Have you previously filed a tax return? If not, why not, and why now?

Is the IRS aware of your family?

Have you had any tax withheld, or paid any quarterly tax?

The bulk (probably 100%) of your SSDI will end up being tax exempt. Line 5a and 5b, there's a worksheet.

    https://apps.irs.gov/app/vita/content/globalmedia/social_security_benefits_worksheet_1040i.pdf

You can claim any missing EIP (#1 and #2) payments.

Not sure what your ultimate goal(s) is here?

Feel free to be very specific, assuming you seek help.

MY income is strictly SSDI.... Is not enough to pay or needing to file taxes.... I never thought i could get EIP or child tax credits because didnt know my income can be counted as earned income... So i never bothered to do taxes for many years...

If i qualified for any EIP or tax credits that got me a refund.... then i would file back taxes for last 3 years hahah... But with my income I being so low... and an expat.. i knew i qualified for not needing to file because income was less than their required amount..

My initial goal was only to get the stimulus 2 checks for my kids.... because they got the 1st one and didnt get this 2nd one... but as i read more into tax preparation i begin suspecting i may be entitled to more of a refund through EIP and child credits and disability credits and EITC.

So now i am just seeking help to understand them in filing them to see if i can get more of a refund that would greatly help my family and debts.

Otherwise i will just do the simple one to claim that stimulus for my kids.

He is healthy. I am not talking about going bald it's just excessive amounts on the floor. He has lots of hair.

MY gf of 23 years old is the same.... looks like she has haircuts everyday at home... Hair everywhere in clumps... But really it's only normal.... once on the floor they collect together into bunches... makes it look like even more.

I wouldn't worry about it if i were you.

I just printed out the 2020 forms I need from the IRS website as I have always mailed back the forms. This year I think I may look at the Free Electronic Filing. I had looked at  Turbo Tax years ago when working. Take a look at using the IRS Free sites as a possibility.

I was offered the free online ones due to low income based on SSDI only... But noone is there to answer any questions or give one on one help without asking exorbitant fees...

I have had some people offer unsolicited advice about tax returns that is 100% correct - - but correct for them, not for me.

    Get professional advice.

Thanks... im not asking someone to do it for me... and wont divulge personal info other than my name and some amounts of income... just seeking some solid advice on which boxes to tick and which forms am eligible to get the most benefit to increase a refund..

All i am seeing is the stimulus my kids didnt get.... but know there are more credits available if fill the forms correctly... and dont know if they would increase a refund due to me or be a waste of time filling out... Normally i am not required to file taxes... so any solid advice based on my circumstances are helpful.

If you have, or did at any time during the year, more than the equivalent of US$ 10,000. In a Thai bank you will also need to compete an FBAR report.  This is done electronically so it’s quite easy.  Google “FBAR reporting” for more info.

Does each member of your family have a SSN or TIN?

Only myself and my kids... not interested to include thai wife and start paying tax on her income... normally i do not ever file taxes because income is from ssdi and non taxable... but i want to get the stimulus unpaid to my children....

I have used Turbo Tax for years now. If your income is below $30k (if I remember correctly), it is free to use. It properly handles the US tax exemption for my Thai income, my dividends, my capital gains, as well as my rental property income in the US. It is super simple to use. I print my returns and mail them via EMS, and I have never had a problem. I would give it a try to see if it can handle all of your deductions.

Tried them.. Biggest problems I'm facing are... Wife is Thai so filing status is uncertain.

Income is SSDI and its website says qualify for EITC and child credits but online app doesn't permit it.

Only income is 12864 yearly from SSDI. No other filing claims except that one and dependents care. About 18000 in credits for children and EITC if applied. Also uncertain about disability credits. Could be more.

Either way. I need some help with someone in Thailand in same situation that has filed before.

  7. Are there any Americans offering free or cheap help to other Americans for help in filing their 2020 tax returns?

I live on SSDI payments and have 2 children I support and also who qualified for the money given to Americans but they didn't receive it.

I have no additional income to report. But want to claim any credits possible. Need help if possible.

Live in bkk.. Ladproa area. Please reply PM

  8. Given they try making this into law to have it on your phone. It makes sense to install it. But I don't think the law says anything about whether or not the permissions it requires get revoked by you so the app doesn't transmit all your personal info. So if you like your privacy.. Or don't want your phone battery drained or your location being transmitted using all your data package.  You can revoke those permissions and silence the notifications and still keep the app to show anyone that demands to see it for prosecutionsor persecution.

OP, are you serious? you are thinking of taking a job sitting in a classroom, correcting teachers when they make mistakes.????

Never in a million years will a teacher here ever admit to making a mistake.

If you were to get involved in that, you would not last long, as no Thai teacher would put up with you correcting them.

You missed the point of the topic. Language facilitator is only job title and description is fictitious.

  10. So here's the deal. Have retire visa.. Offered a position at a school as language facilitator. The deal is job requirements are no teaching. Sit in classroom and make corrections if and when teachers make mistakes.

This way there is no need for teaching license.

Is it possible to get work permit with this type of job if I change my visa to marriage visa?

The real 'conspiracy' is that covid19 is not actually dangerous and that the cure (lockdowns, shutdowns etc) are worse than the disease.

Average age of people dying from covid-19 in sweden is 82. Average life expectancy in sweden is 82.

Only 6% of people dying from covid in sweden didn't have underlying medical issues as cause of death.

Sweden had no lockdown and no masks etc.

The entire world is seriously overreacting to this thing. It was understandable in the early days when we didn't know, but now we know.

Also, imagine if we put as much effort into preventing the regular flu every year. Or road deaths..

And why do you think all of tis contact tracing is done and emergency decrees and all the other stuff that's happened because of covid.. Surely it must be a real threat.. Or perhaps a good excuse to enforce control measures to the people.

No mention of where this young man could have contracted the virus.  Airport?  ASQ Hotel?  Hospital?  Magic?

Given that just last night I took a baht bus to walking street. On the songtow a man was bragging he just arrived to Thailand. Yet he didn't even have a mask in sight. I would say that it won't be difficult for covid to spread with people like the man I saw last night walking around.

The problem is they don't know what's going on and it's out of their control.

Until Malaysia, Cambodia, Loa and Myanmar decide to open their borders to Thailand their hands are somewhat tied and options are limited.

They have two options in my opinion.

    1. Extend the amnesty.

    2. Make a temporary amendment to the regulations, allowing those on the current amnesty to apply for legitimate 30 day extensions, which will produce revenue, but overcrowded Immigration offices once again.

so interesting that Thais don't have to go through all the hoops except get a fit to fly paper...this must be one smart virus that can obviously pick and choose who it will infect and who not....obviously Thais returning home won't be affected..only farangs...Thais are bullet proof...

Isn't that the catch? If you can afford booking a flight within 2 days of departure.. Get covid results immediately prior to being permitted to book the flight.. Then pay the exhorbant price of a quarantine hotel and food plus 2 more covid tests once you arrive. Then you are rich and smart enough to come.. Otherwise, sit your butts back down in your chairs and stay home. You will never be that rich..  And don't forget to make sure your flight doesn't have any thais returning on it. Otherwise you may catch covid in the plane because none of the other requirements are needed if you are Thai

Thai defamation laws would make such a report impossible inland, even if it points out the truth and nothing but the truth.

Such laws are here only to protect the guilty and should be scrapped.

Can't say yes or nay to the accusations.  But I can say I have always seen many many trucks with coconuts on the highway and monkeys clinging to the sides. It's a daily ritual to tease my kids with them being related.

It's 20-22 hours of teaching time.  This is no part time job.  I have to be there promptly at 7:30 a.m. every morning and stay till 4.  There is lesson preparation, extracurricular activities and answering the questions of the Thai teachers and so forth.  I was just wondering if anyone else has found themselves in a similar situation do to the covid crisis.  I appreciate the advice about sticking up for myself.  I will keep that in mind.

I believe you answered your own question when you said the scholl was trying to make you do this because of the teacher shortage due to the virus. This puts you in a good negotiating position if you want to stay at the school. It also tells you that it will be easy to find another and better job if you decide to leave.
