I have a general question for anyone who cares to respond.
Is there anyone out there with an O-A visa who, prior to 2019, used a letter from your bank and your bank book to satisfy the monthly income (pension) requirement for a stay extension based on RETIREMENT?
Is there anyone out there with an O-A visa who, prior to 2019, used a letter from your bank and your bank book to satisfy the monthly income requirement for a stay extension based on MARRIAGE or GUARDIAN?
Thanks...Bill!
Nope!

Thanks for your information and tips.
Before now, I have been using Transferwise, and it shows up in my bank book as a domestic transfer from an account at Thai Military Bank. At the end of this week, I will get my SS deposit in my BofA account in California. I am then going to try to transfer it directly to my Krungsri/Ahudyha account using online banking and BofA's international wire transfer based on my bank's SWIFT code. When it arrives, I will then see if it shows up as an international transfer or not.
If that works, great. I'm not yet home free on it, but I won't go into detail of what other hurdles I'd have to jump to perform this type of transaction on BofA's online banking here every month. I think I've got that figured out - if this works.
If it doesn't, I have some other alternatives lined up, including making sure I have the right amount of money deposited in the bank before my stay extension is due next December.
Bill I did the same with Chase just yesterday. It shows up as BAHTNET which is through bank of Thailand. I did a domestic wire transfer from Chase to BKKNY and am still waiting for it to post.
I understand that with transferwise you can go to the activities menus and print each of your transfers. Maybe they show as international and you can print that to support the bank book. I don’t have an account yet but will be setting one up shortly.

I contacted chase just now and was advised the ACH office does not take phone calls unless there is a fraud investigation. I was directed to call the branch that my account is at. I wii do so in an hour or so. But last word from Chase is that they do not nor do they plan to use the appropriate coding for international transfers as required by BKK Bank NY. The only way to have this done is by opening an international account at your branch, in person.

I think all you have to do is take your marriage certificate to the local head office and they register it for you and give you Thai marriage certificate. Wife did it she thinks it was about 100 baht. Since you have translated copy already you are half way there. Wife also says she needed a state department stamp on it but that was because we sent it from America. I don’t remember it being that way but she insists. I would just have your wife go to the Amphur and ask what they need. Hope this helps.

You're right, but I know of no US financial institutions that have adopted IAT for their customer initiated ACH transactions. Some institutions may use IAT for their own purposes but I don't know of any that do so for customer initiated ACH transactions. My bank and credit union do not and I don't see that changing.
What you say is true, but for all practical purposes for me and others it means that the service is effectively ending.
I have been transferring from Chase to BBNY for years. So now come April I will not be able to do this?
I ask the next question because this is the first I’ve heard of this. What is the most economical way to send money from Chase to my Bangkok bank account after April?

Are you kidding me? In Buriram Thais just stop in the middle of the main road if they want to go into a shop. If you honk your horn when they are doing so you get a look of disbelief! Idiots!

And what about those over 60 who can’t get insurance? Is there going to be a plan available for them?

Do you need a work permit to apply for permanent residency. I moved here and hold retirement visa only.

Are you looking for a Thai house to be built or do you want the builder to be Thai? Beware of Farang builders just as you would do at home. Get a contract and build spec sheet with your plans. Beware of getting billed for more than you agreed on and having the crew leave before the job is done. Nano blocks are a good solid option!

I have the Troy built and it works great. Mine came with electric start but battery died after about a year and I have not been able to find a replacement. No problem though it starts on first pull of the rope nearly every time.

Are you looking for a full size block or the thin ones sold everywhere? I built with the larger “super block” at 10 baht each free delivery to Buriram from Korat if you order a truckload.

Cigna global may be an option. They have direct billing and cover anywhere in the world except USA but you can get that added as a rider.

0.36% (5 out of 1400).... statistically insignificant..... but the bahts involved are very significant....
Statistically they are 100% correct. The remaining 1395 have not been looked at yet. Just goes to show how people incorrectly quote statistics to manipulate their agenda!

How about loosing the 'Typical Thai Male blah blah blah' attitude, or go back to your own country if you have an attitude like this.
Plenty of Farang drivers that do stuff like this.
It’s not race it’s culture. If the crime is committed 95% of the time by a particular group, then there ya go!

<deleted>? You have got to be kidding!!?? If some school administrators told my 16 year old he or she couldn’t give an embrace to the person they loved, the administrator would be taking lunch through one of those illegal California straws!
