100% on the tractor. The tractor is reversing and has the highest duty of care to ensure that the movement of the vehicle can be made safely. As the tractor was encroaching on a lane of traffic, it was also being operated in the improper lane, even if its reversing action was in same direction as the flow of traffic.
Contrary to some of the opinions above, I see absolutely no evidence the tractor operator was engaged in any kind of road maintenance. There are no governmental work signs, no warning signs, no road work uniforms, and he wasn't doing any roadside work. He's a farmer operating his vehicle on the wrong side of the road, trying to use the shoulder as it is a slow moving vehicle, and for some unknown reason, reversed his tractor.
I wish when I litigated auto collision cases, they had video of the accidents so that we didn't have to rely upon witness statements, vehicular damage photographs, and accident reconstruction analysis.
Wrong. Regardless if the tractor driver decided to stand naked and do a dance on it clearly and without question the idiot in the white truck is at fault. If the silver truck was speeding and it could be proven then excessive speed would be a contributing factor not the cause. Don’t go into traffic law.

Did my yearly retirement extension today armed with embassy letter and proof of income including letter from retirement provider 1099r and bank deposits at home. Surprisingly they took the embassy letter without question.
I also had a printout from bangkokbank for a full year of transactions. You can pay the 200 baht fee and get it in about 5 business days.
They also told told me they have a new directive to visit every foreigner at home. I said just for marriage extension right. IO said no they are to visit everyone!

??? Care to back those claims up with some statistics?
Unless you mean Sweden, the country famous for its open borders and left wing politics, which the right wing racist snowflakes of the world hate to see successful, so they make up all kind of BS about the country.
I’m I beg to differ but the libtards are the snowflakes!

That is IMG and specifically this plan
https://www.patriotamericainsurance.net/patriot-america-insurance/
Although the website says it is for non-US citizens it is also for US expats on short term visits to the US, I have verified that directly with the insurer and had this policy myself for several consecutive years.
Thanks for the info. I did end up getting this policy.

I heard there was a military vehicle sales shop offering WW2 vintage vehicles in the pattaya or Phuket area. I have found nothing recent online about this. Anyone aware of such a place? I would like to find an old bike to restore.

Update - the victim's father in law has since died.
So was he her dad, his dad, or was she married to someone else and the male victim was the husbands dad????
But then I just don’t understand how he could be kept in the dark about the pregnancy unless he hadn’t seen her in a while????
And if he is so concerned about the pregnancy then why kill 3 people????
Amazing Thailand!!!!

As far as I know 90 day reports on retirement visa or extension is all that is needed. In 3 years never a visit. Although the local police came by a few months ago looking for a German expat. I was not home. I think they use the German expat as a ruse.

Hmmm. I’m not an expert on this but here goes:
Busses and larger trucks have air brakes
Air pressure is what releases the brake
No air pressure and the brakes fully engage
Unless these brake fail crashes are due to such significant over heating that there is no resistance (which actually takes some serious overheating), then clearly it’s NOT brake failure it’s driver failure.
Ok mechanics out out there let’s hear your thoughts.

I’m just guessing but they probably won’t notice any photo on here because they don’t read!

I have never had more than one or two people in front of me when checking in for my appointment at the window
The long line is for people applying for visas and they enter through a different door.
They will not let you through the doors if you are earlier than 15 minutes according to recent reports.
Outstanding information, thank you sir!

I have checked several times and not found one in the afternoon before.
Just checked for this month and next month and found the appointments on Thursdays are all afternoon appointments.
Getting ready to do one for next month on a Thursday afternoon so I can fly down and back easily on the same day from here in Ubon.
A bit off topic but after reading this thread I think the answer to this question may help a few of us:
I have an appointment at the US Embassy next week 1045.
If there is a long line it sounds like going to the window ahead of the line to let them know you are there for a scheduled appointment is not going to make any difference.
I understand getting there too early doesn’t help because they still have you wait outside.
If anyone has experience going for appointments there can you shed some light as to what is the most appropriate time to arrive? I’m not staying close so I’ll come early and have a coffee no big deal.

New rules at Bangkokbank. After multiple calls to branches as well as head office today, Bangkokbank will no longer accept pink ID card to do banking. No surprise that about half the staff at the bank didn’t know that. I thought it was my branch making things up as I have used it extensively over the last year while building our home.

Ahhh. Thank you both. I tried BUBA but whichever country I entered on the quote it said insurance not available. I’ll try Aetna and ING.

Yes, they have shipped parts to me in Thailand.
Try and get them to use Royal Mail, far better than the couriers (DHL, Fed Ex, UPS et al) this end regarding customs and import tax.
RM under 2 kgs is also very reasonable in price.
Thank you sir!

US citizen residing in Thailand planning trip back to US for a couple months. Google search has become frustrating. Anyone with similar circumstances obtained good travel medical insurance? My Cigna plan only covers two weeks of travel.

I've said it before, and I will not repeat it again.
Hitchcocks Motorcycles free paper (which I have) or on line parts and service catalogue.
It is all you will ever need for all things RE in parts and/or knowledge.
Just looking into getting a new RE 500 and saw this. Do you know if Hitchcock’s can ship parts to Thailand?

Yes UJ I understand. I am wondering though if there are others that have encountered issues with immigration wanting more than bank book and affidavit?
-
Yes showed proof of income but the comment (as I was asking about when I come back for the extension) was that income does not matter, but the fact that the money is transferred here from elsewhere, and the money is being spent here. (Paraphrasing but this is the main point of what he had to say) He also said that Foreigners that stay here need to prove that they are spending the money.

I went to immigration yesterday for a simple 90 day report and new re-entry visa.
Backstory: I got a non-o A based on retirement two years ago. My last entry on that visa was May last year. Last December I traveled and the immigration officer gave me another year. I questioned it. He got a bit testy and said yes one year. Go.
So in March I went to do my 90 day at Buriram and again questioned the one year permission to stay and again how dare I question them. I gave you one year. Go!
Back to today. 90 day report and entry visa.
WAIT! Your visa expired 2 days ago. I reminded him of our last conversation.
Big boss comes over. Everyone laughs. Not sure at what. Boss asked if I was married. I said yes. Why didn?t you bring wife? No need to.
That didn?t sit well. He said go get wife proof of funds in bank or income letter. I don?t have affidavit just letter from retirement. Ok bring it. See you Monday. I said no see you in an hour!
Back to immigration with wife and documents in 45 minutes. They were shocked.
Without all of the details here is how it turned out:
Even though date in passport is wrong it is my responsibility. I was asked which visa number I put on my arrival card. I pointed to the number on the original visa. WRONG! You must use the VISA number on the reentry VISA so it is definitely your fault!
So..... overstay fine and stamp in passport. 1000 baht
60 day extension 1900 baht
Service fee 1000 baht no receipt for this one!
So I?ll do an extension in about 55 days.
Just beware and check the dates and be more persistent than I was if there is an error.
I was informed that a letter from the embassy is no longer sufficient proof of transfer of funds into Thailand. They want documents from the bank showing transfers of money into Thailand! I said I would bring my bank book. They said no they want to see something from the bank other than bank book that shows the money was sent here from overseas.I think the bank book shows that. Ill go to the bank Monday and see what they can offer if anything.
Has anyone else had a similar experience?
Others here have reportedly had to pay a special service fee because the money wasn't transferred monthly but quarterly. Is this a new trend with immigration?
Also, it wasn't just one IO, but all 3 in the office were gathered together telling me the same thing!
Any info that you can share regarding this is greatly appreciated!
