  1. Interested to see examples. Not surprised though. Neither was the former Minister of Agriculture convicted heroine dealer. Something about his time in an Australian prison...
  2. Exactly. Anutin is a slippery c@nt and he's a servant of the Establishment, and has no respect for democracy. The People's Party leaders can't trust this guy as far as they could throw him. His promises are as hollow as they come. He won't call an election - and even if he did, the courts or military would find some way to anul it. Doing a deal with Peau Thai isn't very pallatable either of course. But it's better than Anutin!
  3. Yes, many western countries use them. I don't really like them to be honest. They are harder to fold in my wallet or pocket and they are slippery. But, anyway, they are still MONEY and I'm happy in that regard!
  4. Apparently PT has now agreed to the same demands by People's Party (same as what Anutin's party agreed to), if the former vote for PT's choice for new PM. IMO - this would be the lesser of two evils. But I bet the Establishment would sh!t themselves though if this is the scenario that comes out! They are more scared of PP and an election than anything else.
  5. Reuters just reported that Bunjumthai Party is in talks with other parties to try to form a government and has talked to opposition People's Party to get their support, and the former vowed to amend the Constitution and hold elections in 4 months. I won't post a link as it is just breaking and not very clear yet. (IMO - if this is true - the People's Party should understand this is probably a trap - and promises won't be kept)
  6. That didn't seem to stop them from going to Vegas in droves before Trump's threats of annexation.. If they had/have less disposible income (I guess you mean compared with Americans) maybe they just gambled less. Now they aren't going at all, as far as news reports claim.
  7. I don't doubt that. But you gotta admit the number of 'international' tourists going there - or anywhere in the US - is down considerably. Much of that is not economics, it's out of an abundance of caution that one of their family members could be arrested for no reason by border 'officers'. That would be a nightmare for any tourist family. Also, Canadians were a good chunk of the previous annual visitors to Vegas, given how easily accessible it was (short flights). Now most of them are not traveling to the US. Add them to the other countries and this is the result.
  8. It's not 'either' of them. It's the Establishment that they both work for - and only for. It's a clown car sh@t show and has always been that. Yes, it does. What I've never understood is why the whole Cabinet needs to be dissolved. But I 'guess' it's because the former PM chose those people and so their tenure is no longer valid? Anyway, the Establishment always wins here, don't they? Always. The people of this country really need to wake up to reality and take back their nation from those who have no problem in excluding the majority, who are seen as just bothersome little people. I have no love for Thaksin or his stab-the-electorate-in-the-back party. But with the banning of Pita and then his whole party made it clear the people of this country cannot have a government that represents the majority if it - in any way - threatens the 500-or so Establishment families in even the slightest.
  9. Agree. There was a good explanatory story about how Thais go nuclear over what, to Westerners, are small affronts. In one of the newspapers years ago, a retired senior cop, who was among those sent abroad to represent the Thai police at seminars, explained how Thais don't go from fight to win, they go from fight to kill (or seriously injure) someone who has made them lose face. He said in the West a fight goes from A: fight, to B: a win or a scuffle and an end to the fighting without much physical damage; or more rarely to C : severe injury/death. In Thailand, he said, a fight escalates much faster, and skips 'B' - going from A, all the way to C and very quickly: kill/serious injuries. Also, as we know, they gang up routinely if they can. So yes, given the high gun ownership here, it's best to be 'courteous' on the road - even if many others are not.

  22. Why wouldn't they accept a Thai driving license as a 2nd form of ID?
  23. Kind of a one-way street with him though, isn't it. By stopping the tax-free import of American's online overseas purchases - the vast majority of which fall within the USD 800 range - isn't that discriminating against other countries' digital retail technologies? So if Europe taxes Amazon imports (or profits) they're disciminating against US tech companies, but if a German or French online company sells some low cost item to a customer in the US, it's taxable.
  24. That program usually has the interview subjects wearing masks and caps to hide their identities. It's a daily show.
