"They couldn't charge as much for Thais as they could do for foreigners, they lamented."

What a shame - my heart bleeds for these double pricers.

Suggestion for them -  as you have very few customers now, why not put your prices up AGAIN to make up the shortfall? That'sa bound to work! :cheesy:

sanbum, I share your feelings about doubling pricing. Another poster suggests this has been lost in translation and perhaps they have had to alter things to cater for thai custopmers. Lets not get away from the fact that people are in tragic circumstances without any governmental support. Today its the tourism industry but export industry will suffer because the world has slowed down.

You do know, I hope, many earn a living in the tourist industry, possibly a million people lost their job?

    Are their wishes also selfish?

You think only the business owners have problems?

And the government paying for all that might be difficult, less tax coming in, no income from tourism, less VAT incoming because people buy less (no money), and so on.

    Isn't your answer slightly egoistic?

Like many other countries here in the UK the government put support and incentive schemes in place which have cost £billions. Whereas the Thai government have sat on their huge foreign exchange funds throughout while people suffer Ranked 12th in the world.

There is a reason we are treated to a non-stop flow of nonsense. The whole world-wide covid response is fully overblown and the narratives are being controlled very tightly by centralised organisations. When you try to control and suppress, sooner or later you end up with absurdity.  I have no idea when any of this will cease,  and what's to stop them pulling another corona out of their asses and repeating the whole shebang?   A situation we all thought would last a few months is now clearly going to last more than one year and beyond...   The possibility that this may go on for years without end does not sit well with me.  How long will you, personally, tolerate the nonsense?

Adam1, do I have a choice ? here in the UK I heard they may even push to extend our lockdown measures expiring 2nd Dec, before the vaccination programmes start.

Wonder what bizarre price the Govt will be charged for these devices and who is owning or has interest in that company. Usually an envelope involved when stupid things like this emerge. You can bet someone is rubbing their hands together.

Personally, i'm wondering what bizarre price we will be paying to rent for the duration of stay. Lol

11th November is Armistice Day, when everyone, including Thai people, many of them working on the Thai Burma Railway,  should be remembering those that served and millions that died in WW2. Not some bloody stupid Chinese holiday for desperate singles.

jaiyen, I agree and thankyou, I wonder how many Thais are taught about this time in their country. My partner seemed oblivious when I went there.

    Sigh.

    3. Monorail to meet the high speed train, three tram lines with 34 kilometers of routes. Cost: 50 billion (raised through PPP investment).

The company that wins the bid to build the rain/tram lines would no doubt recoup their costs via a long term lease with the city to maintain/operate those lines and collect all the revenue from them.

The other 30 billion in projects would no doubt be split between the 3 levels of government and spread out over a couple years. It's not like Pattaya is suddenly going to spend 80 billion in a single year's budget.

This is probably all part of the belt and road development and Thailand will fall victim to the debt/trap diplomacy in which the Chinese excel. Expect all those Chinese contractors to arrive in the next few years

Business people. Buying all for cheap cheap I guess. But my gf, who lives with me cannot come in.  They separate desperate couples. Thai or not, it is simply inhuman to separate people. Proving you are together, should be enough to reunite people in any country. It is a slap in our face, these kind of people can come in. It will bring nothing to the economy, only the fact more and more will be Chinese owned.

Agree 100%, it has been a journey for all countries but we are learning a vaccine may only be 50% reliable, someone can be re-infected, there are second waves of this virus as in Europe right now  What exactly is the thai government waiting for or is this the way it is ?

Let's just wait and see how much of the Condo sector those Chinese proxies just allowed in and then the next ones to come will buy up. I just wish that the USA would not allow any  retired Thais back into the USA and not allow them to buy property as well. TFT. Tit For Tat.

I have to agree 100 %. Whereas we face restrictions in Thailand here in UK any foreigner can buy property or a football club.

I see a web of tangle lies will be unfolding soon especially with this little nugget.

"China will continue to suspend outbound group tours and ban travel agencies from allowing inbound tours due to the risk of a resurgence in coronavirus cases this winter, authorities said.  The country's Ministry of Culture and Tourism made the announcement in a notice published on its website on Wednesday"

Can someone help the Thai Government understand that other countries are still not cooperating as they say they are.  Can someone explain to me who these 39 Chinese tourists really are? or, are they just really a new set of possible new diplomatic staff that have come to conduct an annual change at the end of the year in the Chinese embassy.  However, before stepping into place they get a free vacation first, just a few thoughts off the top of my head..

ThailandRyan, agreed, who-ever these chinese people are, they are not your average punter. Factory managers, diplomatic staff ? ? ?
