Misleading description and blown up barking for a simple WiFi repeater.
I had such in the past (~1000 Baht) and it worked OK.

Virtually it's like having moved your router to another place.

There is no magic "unthrottling". Stupid chatter.

Reaching 100 MBit/s as shown in the picture is possible depending on WiFi technology used in the router and your device. With 5GHz I reached that on my mobile.

My advice: use 2.4 GHz

Fast enough for almost all home devices and better signal coverage.

Thanks for that but doesn't 5 GHz  give you a better/clearer result when watching videos/live streaming?

  2. I have a 3BB internet package (750 per month) and the router is in the bedroom while the TV is (surprise, surprise) in the living room. What I frequently do is connect my laptop to my TV and via wifi play content on my TV. However, the degradation of the 5 GHz signal is substantial (abt 40% left where the laptop is placed) and I assume I would get a better picture with les buffering if the signal was stronger.

I've been looking at possible options but would like to ask the community about your experiences regarding this issue. Shpuld I get an antenna tha plugs into the router to increase signal strenght output, is there a way to boost the capability of the laptop to receive the signal?

Also, this ad looks too good to be true so it probably is but has anyone heard of/tried this product?

If your wife has no problem, switch to AIS

Turn off ‘Cellular Data’ on your phone - iPhones have that option, other phones should.

Turn off ‘Auto-Updates’ so your phone doesn’t update without you knowing it - iPhones have that option, other phones should.

    - I've been with DTAC for 14 years and don't really want to start again with a new company as there are certain vital (to me) perks that come along with the long relationship.

    - That's been turned off the whole time. The issue is it turns itself back on.

    - Auto update is off but I shouldn't have to remember to switch off and block mobile data again after system updates.

  4. So I have a Dtac prepaid sim card and thought I'd finally found the solution to mobile data switching itself on under certain circumstances by disabling mobile data (*104*72*9#).

But I've now found that despite this it still switches itself on after phone system updates! Don't know what more I can do to prevent this from happening and am seriously <deleted> off at Dtac. My wife's got AIS and this doesn't heppen to her.

    Thoughts, anyone?

  5. I have a friend that doesn't have a clue about anything to do with tablets and computer stuff. He has an Apple Ipad that's 4-5 years old and when I tried to help him install antivirus software he realized he had forgotten the required password as well as the Apple password and the recovery phone number.

Is there anything I can do to help him or is the only option to bring the tablet to an Apple service center?

Which century was your pump visit?

    PTT:

95 Gashol is starting at 21.35.

Far from Bangkok price may go up for a about one Baht max. So 22.35.

Even pure Benzene (no ethanol) should not be over 30 Baht at PTT (where available).

    Again:

"My mistake, I meant 21+ and 29+ Baht respectively."

Just realized this on the last MB fill up. I will not be going back to Shell.

And it seems that's the reaction almost everyone has. The stations I mentioned in the OP (on Thepprasit Rd in Pattaya) are, as I said, side by side and the Shell station is brand new and shining and has all the bells and whistles that today come with a new gas station from a major oil company.

Nonetheless it's almost completely devoid of customers while the PTT station is bustling. You've got to question the Shell company's decision to go with a premium 95 alternative when that almost certainly is what drives all the prize conscious customers (and in these Covid times that's practically everyone) away.

This is because Shell only sells their premium Ultra 95 Gasohol, and no normal 95 Gasohol, consequently i never go to Shell.

That seems to be a very silly policy because at the aforementioned side by side stations PTT is packed and the Shell station is dead as a dodo.

  9. I live in Pattaya and close to where I live are two gas/petrol stations side by side. One is PTT and the other is Shell. Price for 95 Gasohol at the PTT station; 31.1. Price at Shell; 39.1. That's right; a whopping 8 Baht difference for one liter!!

I filled up on petrol in my car at the Shell station last week and noticed right away that something was wrong as I've never paid so much for a full tank and I always check that they zero the pump before they start filling. I chose the brand new Shell station that day because it was empty and the PTT station is always busy and now I understand why. How the heck can this be?? Is PTT gas prizes subsidized since it's (AFAIK) government owned?

I have always found that the "Farangs attitude " has a lot to do with it.

Never once have I been even questioned when I wanted to open another bank account in fact

at KTB was welcomed into their staff fixed term savings share accounts.

Not any better interest but no tax.

"I have always found that the "Farangs attitude " has a lot to do with it."

And just how have you come to that conclusion? Have you observed farangs with an "attitude" being turned away when trying to open an account while you (with your supposedly "non-attitude") were granted this privilege?

  11. Went to Kasikorn today to open a new bank account but was told my Non-O/marriage extension would not suffice. I had to have an investor visa or a work permit or..(not sure about the other types). A straight Non-O will no longer do she said.

I've had an account there (jointly with my wife) for more than 15 years so was surprised to say the least. Question is, is this KTB policy or government regulations. Is it still possible to open bank accounts in other banks?

At CW they always tell you the appointment date (or report back date) when you apply for the extension. At that date they stamp the final extension in ur passport.

What immigration office are you using?

From the sound of it, you have nothing to worry about. You will get your extension on the 15th.

I'm using the Jomtien IO. OK, I should probably have checked this out earlier but I was told by someone that I will be contacted by them when the application has been processed. From what you guys say that's wrong so I'll head down there on Tuesday the 13th just to check all is well.

  13. So I applied for a one year extension of stay based on marriage on 15th last month and go a 1 month under consideration stamp. That's up on the 15th next week and with a weekend in between so not many days left.

My question is is this normal procedure that they don't contact you until pretty close to the deadline or how is this working? They are contacting me when it's ready, is that correct?

5,500 Baht, but I'm not concerned about the money, by that stage I just wanted it done quickly and safely, and that's what I got. I would have gone to Dr. Anna when I first saw that the cyst had become infected as I'm a regular customer of hers, but that was on a Thursday afternoon and her working days at BHP are Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday, so I'd have had to wait until the following Tuesday. That's why I used a clinic that I've never bee to before. I'm not saying don't use clinics, as some of them have excellent doctors. For many years I used Dr. Chanvit for minor problems, located opposite Second Road Soi 18, but she closed down a year or two ago. I've never used Dr. Olivier, but he's got a good reputation and isn't far away, maybe I should have tried him, or has he closed down too?

Don't know but a friend of mine tried him a few years ago and he was not cheap at all.
