Lol, British Airways is an old and somewhat crappy airline, many people gave up flying with them a decade ago.

Whenever I previously flew I preferred KLM or Lufthansa with a transit stop in either Amsterdam or Frankfurt but routing changes at Lufthansa and the KLM Air France merger really messed with the schedules which didn't suit me.

    I haven't been back since.

The problem is (like any company) is that they have lost their reputation.

It used to a privledge, sort of, flying with BA back in the 70's and 80's but they never kept up with the times nor did they attract the younger crowd who ended up on package holidays in Ibiza . Easyjet gave them a broken and bloody nose which they never really recovered from.

But I have to say, flying on BA was much more preferable to flying on KLM - I heard they still use reclining seats on biz. long haul, maybe I'm wrong.

If people actually take the time to look at numbers they will see that whilst the UK posted a record 93,000 positives on Friday - probably due to extreme rising in testing never seen in other countries - it has been conveniently left out by the doom-mongering news outlets the fact that the deaths from related covid was the lowest on a Friday for EIGHTEEN WEEKS.

    UK Friday deaths

    17/12 = 111
    10/12 = 120
    3/13 = 143
    26/11 = 160
    19/11 = 157
    12/11 = 145
    5/11 = 193
    29/10 - 186
    22/10 - 180
    15/10 = 145
    8/10 = 146
    1/10 =127
    24/9 = 180
    17/9 = 178
    10/9 = 147
    3/9 = 121
    27/8 = 133
    20/8 = 114

Exactly. I've said this time and time again...

Well you're 'good to go' - tell me, have you been opening Asean Now every morning recently, hoping you wouldn't see the dreaded words 'Thailand closes its borders to the UK' (or any other country with high Omicron infection rates)?  I've another week of that to go. Hope you've got a big coat, I'm told its mighty cold on the hold.

Hell yes, but its just one of many

"THAILAND CLOSE BORDERS FROM 4AM TOMORROW"

    "YOUR FLIGHT HAS BEEN CANCELLED"

"UK IMPOSES NATIONAL LOCKDOWN FROM 4AM TOMORROW"

"THAILAND IMPOSING 14 DAY QUARANTINE FROM TOMORROW"

"THAILAND DIVERTING ALL INCOMING PASSENGERS TO THE MOON"

"PRAYUT ASKS ARMY TO REMOVE ALL SINGHA FROM THAILAND"

Seriously though, my only concern is that despite being triple jabbed,  I end up in frickin quarantine...

In my opinion, it's better not to mix and match different vaccine technology. We won't know the side effects until after a few years.

Moderna and Pfizer use mrna tech whereas AZ use a different adenovirus tech to produce the spike proteins.

If you have taken AZ without any adverse side effects, then just stick to AZ.

Different people have different reaction to different vaccines.

They shouldnt be giving AZ as a booster, only Pfizer or Moderna

It is sad how so many people actually think like this. The thought of

if I cannot have this person, then no one else can is not just in Thailand.

The saving of face though is some kind of thing that I have seen in many parts

of Asia.  I have caught some people lying to save their face, and let them know

    that they were being pathetic.

Yep and its even sadder that he'll probably do little jailtime

Good that they had to go into quarantine upon returning to Thailand.

If they had a "quick pass" for being nationals that could have back-fired.

I just hope the rest of the aircraft passengers were tested appropriately?

Yeah and I hope they are testing all those illegals sneaking into the country from Laos, Myanmar and Cambodia....????

    Tragic.

My take on this is that governments should stop pussy footing around and make it mandatory for those travelling to their countries to have some kind of travel insurance.

There is nothing negative about it and it lessons the burden on their families and others financially when things go terribly wrong.

Besides, it's cheap and I have to say that I am seriously sick to the core of hearing people getting injured and or unfortunately dying without some kind of travel insurance cover at the least.

They make people get PCR tests + + + for Covid which adds up excluding hotel stays, why not travel insurance with repatriation included as part of the policy, simple really if you ask me.

RIP, taken too early, but goes to show, we never know when our numbers are up and we all should cover ourselves so that our loved ones don't have to suffer financially.

I might sound harsh for a Sunday morning, but it is what it is and now his family can't even afford to pay his bills and get him home without others contributing, that said if he had travel insurance for a little amount of money, financial burden sorted.

Here here. I've been banging on about this, it should be compulsory and part of your airline ticket cost.

I'm triple jabbed but with that toy appear to have only 75% protection against infection. I think the biggest problem will be a sudden clampdown in Thailand after the high season and just as  we I left Thailand you'll get a few hours notice before final flights and end up having to pay for quarantine in a Heathrow hotel. In UK they are forecasting infection rates higher than last winter 50k upwards per day.

I know but haven't seen my little one for over 6 months and time marches on. If that happens then I will have to deal with it

I was really hoping to come to Thailand in April.  Travelling from UK - but omicron looks like putting an end that. In Europe there are major cries for more restrictions to be re-introduced.

If Thailand thinks they are going to avoid Omicron, they are living in a fools paradise - and if they don't raise restrictions soon they will just end up on everyone's red list again.

there is no way I will travel with quarantine rules at either end hanging over me like a sword of Damocles.

I'm hoping to travel next week before potential lockdowns happen but can see the Thai/UK authorties taking further action and despite being triple jabbed I'm worried the pre-departure PCR test is going to come up positive or worse still I test positive on arrival but hey ho, life has to go on.

As for Omicron, it's already in Thailand and there's no stopping it. Worringly, it appears that being double jabbed doesn't have much effect, only by adding the booster do you have up to 75% chance of zero/limited symptoms. Given that Thailand is nowhere near getting most people double jabbed let alone the third booster, this could be bad news.

that's quite a stunt that guy pulled, above all when it's not been proved that he is the real creator.

    Madoff would be proud,

congrats for pulling a 54b USD "legal" scam ????

Maybe I am missing something but why is it a scam ? I assume he (and his partner) had BTC in the early days and thats just what the worth of it is today. He may have defrauded his partner but it's not a scam as such.
