  1. Surprised not. Safety first? International standards are not applicable in Thailand, because Thailand is exceptionally unique. However, when Thailand manufactures products, such as motor vehicles, for export to foreign countries which do have stringent safety standards, that is a different story, as the foreign requirements are usually met.
  2. Maybe Malaysia is afraid Thailand will attempt to reclaim "lost territory".
  3. I believe that most of the "office staff" reside in the apartments behind the office.
  4. Why does Thailand need "these people"? So Thailand can become more global and multicultural? These people enrich Thai culture? Or is it because they generally do work that most Thais do not want to do, at a wage which is generally significantly less than the legal minimum wage, thereby making the employers richer?
  5. "I didn't vote for Trump, I do not like Trump, do not blame me."
  6. Maybe Immigration needs to move to a flood-free site.
  7. Looks like fascism won. Time to return the Statue of Liberty to France..
  8. Did not work at Tak Bai, or Thammasat University, or ......
  9. Does Israel have a labour shortage? How could that be? With Israel expanding its current "war" by "attacking" and increasing number of its "neighbours", will Israel soon be "recruiting" foreign "security volunteers"?
  10. There have been numerous similar "reports" over the past decade or so, which have been largely ignored by various Thai governments. The Thai youth of today and their children will be paying the price of this inaction in the decades to come.
  11. Some Thai officials seem to have no concept of morality. I remember in the late 1970s into at least the early 1980s, a certain group of Thai officials doing business with the by then ousted Khmer Rouge.
  12. Probably tens of thousands of pools 🙂
  13. Do not bring banned books, printed materials (journal or magazine articles, etc.) or images in paper or electronic formats into Thailand. For memory, the penalty is prison up to 3 years and/or a fine (I cannot remember the amount). Personally, I have yet to find a reliable comprehensive list of banned books, etc., in Thailand. although I imagine one exists in Thai. A Google search "books banned in Thailand" will give numerous sites with varying lists. If you believe a book may be banned, do a Google search (which I did before I moved myself and my professional library to Thailand).
  14. For memory, this book is also banned in Thailand.
  15. This book, as well as the film, is also banned in Thailand.
  16. 1 week, no replies. Does that mean no reliable swimming pool contractors in Hua Hin?
  17. LOL. And it will snow in Bangkok today. Just ban most China-made products, and most of the low quality imports will disappear. But, in reality, the super powerful Chinese-Thai business families will never allow that, especially those with large factories in China, some of whose produce is imported into Thailand.
  18. I am glad I left the Roman Catholic Church about 50 years ago, after 12 years of indoctrination. The hypocrisy of many Church officials vis-a-vis biblical teachings were apparent to me even as a young teenager, and Arch Bishop Vigano clearly illustrates things have not changed
  19. Great PR photo op - what about enforcing the safety regulations? Remember, prevention is better than treatment.
