Signing over land to your wife - documents required?
Transferred our land into my son's name a year or so ago. I took my passport with me but they never asked for it. I had to sign one document, my wife and son did the rest. As with all official dealings, requirements can change from office to office and even between officials in the same office.

Renewal of 5 Year Car/MC license - What Document Will I Need?
If you are doing car and bike licenses do you need two COR and two medical certs or can you have originals and copies? I was at my local immigration getting a COR yesterday and they were asking if it was for a car or bike licence. They were going to state which licence on the document. In the end they agreed to just put licence renewal without specifying vehicle type. I am hoping that the DLT will accept the original and a copy.

Value of land with rubber trees?
If you want to know the official valuation for a plot of land look it up on the DOL site. Their valuation is for tax purposes, the seller can ask whatever price they want. Rice fields next to each other can vary by a significant amount per square wah depending on such things as main road location. ระบบค้นหารูปแปลงที่ดิน (LandsMaps) https://landsmaps.dol.go.th/#

Masked Gang Raid Brit’s Pattaya Home, Flee With ฿2m
Last house was about 20 years ago. You can't do a bank transfer if the seller has no bank account. The money was kept in a brown paper bag. We have a safe now, a proper safe, not one you can casually tuck under one arm as you walk out of the house.

Masked Gang Raid Brit’s Pattaya Home, Flee With ฿2m
I've bought two houses in Thailand with cash. Bought my first car with cash. Second car was done with a cashiers check. Back then the sellers wanted cash so that is what I provided. These days cashiers checks are more accepted.

LTR Visa is Now available for Long Term Residency
Possibly withholding tax is the wrong term. I transferred some company scheme shares offshore. The trustees had not been informed that I had left the company several years earlier so some of the shares credited to me under the scheme were not legally mine. In sorting that out some shares were taken from my account which incured a small tax deduction. Possibly the tax was for dividend shares awarded on those shares that were not legally mine? I just called it withholding tax as I was not aware of it untill I got a receipt from the tax man and it was some time ago so I can't remember all the details.

LTR Visa is Now available for Long Term Residency
They were company share scheme shares held by trustees so I had no say in the matter regarding any tax paid. I pay no tax on shares I hold offshore.

LTR Visa is Now available for Long Term Residency
I don't get a UK pension so am not sure about tax on that. Even with the NT code I have had withholding tax taken on the sale of some shares. The amount was so small that I didn't bother to investigate if I could reclaim it. My understanding is that even with a NT code any income derived in the UK is still subject to tax.

Best way to self-pay for operation
Not sure if they will accept a deposit. I had surgery at a government hospital. They required paperwork from the department involved detailing the procedure and an estimate of how much it would cost. I paid that amount in cash. Part of the discharge procedure before leaving the hospital was getting any medication required, follow up appointment and a detailed bill. Once I had the bill I could go back to the cashier and get a refund or pay extra depending on the estimate and the actual cost. I ended up getting 26,000 baht back.

File income tax return online
I just go to the tax office, hand over the credit advice paperwork from the bank listing the cash transfers, hand over the withholding tax form and they fill in the paperwork for me. This year the lady filling in the paperwork also registered me for e filing. She gave me a printout of this year's return and said to do it online myself next year. No need to pay a third party for something the tax office will do for free.

Tell me again there is no inflation in Thailand
I am about to pop up the road for one. 40 baht. It has been 40 baht for as long as I can remember. I have not seen 35 baht meals since a bottle of Hong Thong whiskey went past the 100 baht mark.

Bangkok Bank ATM card renewal
Was your previous card a Union Pay and you have now changed to Master Card? I opted for the change and MC cost significantly more than UP.

driving license renewal
Yes, but involves driving with an expired licence which I would rather not do in case it invalidates my insurance.

driving license renewal
The med cert changed over 5 years ago, has it changed again? Just pointing out that on e learning website it lists documentation required for renewal of 2 to a five year licence, 5 to 5 year licence and doesn't mention the requirement for the med cert for 5 to 5. I have always taken a med cert with me.

Replacement licences expire on your birthday. You get 5 years from your next birthday. If you renew a month early you get 5 years and one month from the day of renewal.

driving license renewal
Did all my stuff last Friday. Online videos and multi choice questions for car and bike. Each video is about an hour long, four or five questions at the end of each one. I usually just walk in but as things here constantly change I booked an appointment online, plenty of dates available in my DLT. The documents required are listed on either the test website or the booking one, can't remember which. A medical cert is a gray area. One page doesn't mention it being required and another does. Only 100 baht where I live so I will get one anyway.

Rail Passengers May Soon See Travel Insurance Added to Fares
Do you have insurance on your car? If yes, does that suggest it would not be safe to travel with you? Or do you have it because something beyond your control, like a crane falling on you, could happen?

British Passport photos
Thanks for the information. I got my last photo done at a local Fuji shop. Showed him the the requirements listed above. He didn't have the right colour background so I pointed to a cream coloured copy machine to show the required colour. He photoshopped the correct colour in. When I got home the pictures were a couple of mm too big so I cut them down. If VFS have a place that knows exactly what is required it would just make it simpler to do on the day.

British Passport photos
Haven't been to the new VFS location but there were plenty of places that did passport photos at the old one in Trendy. There were photo booths upstairs in the waiting room as well.

Question regarding getting insured on Thai GF bike
My motorcycle is owned by my wife but I am the named rider for the second class insurance. Can't remember if I needed to provide my Thai motorcycle licence when I applied for the insurance. My wife's name only appears on the registration not on any insurance documents.

Ferrari Speed Fix Saga Explodes Again in 'Boss' Case
If the cop being dragged for 200 metres is factual then it is reckless driving for taking that distance to stop a Ferrari from 79kph.
