  1. Hey Dupont - I am a guy you loser. lol.

I am sticking up for the likes of my expat GF and her friends who are great chicks. My mum is also a farang women so I'm sticking up for her in a way, though she isn't an expat in BKK. And all the other great farang chicks I've known in my time. Unfortunately, many on this forum don't seem so lucky with the Thai ladies judging by some of the whinging and insecuity that goes on.

You sound like a textbook case of a guy who can't get a farang chick, here or back home, and is jaded. Poor guy. Good luck.

Go back to teaching English and cracking on to chicks at McDonalds or RCA.

  2. Yeah I'm dying to know why too. I know a few pretty good looking young expat chicks who have been sent here by their companies. They certainly aren't complaining and weren't shy about coming. Mainly because they have a great lifestyle here, earn great money, are secure with their looks and their attraction to men, and will move on in a few years to another posting.

I think alot of guys on here and others who dismiss farang girls are intimidated by their intellects, salary, confidence.

  3. Netball at NIST on a Monday night.

Cheap Charlies, Thurs - Sat nights early on.

Balls. Every ball I go to, there are always heaps of single farang women. Many teachers but many other professionals as well. Some are pretty good looking. Southerners Sports Club has a ball coming up, The Aussie one is on Feb, Kiwi one around the same time. Both are great nights.

Pubs for RWC games also attracts a few.

  4. I am Aussie:

Its nice to score tries but clearly they aren't necessary for a win!!! Who honestly cares at the end of the game - its the result that counts? At least England played with some sort of attacking flair and enterprise for a change. Well done England.

BUT one win (albeit a WC one) does not a good-team make. I wouldn't start praising Josh Ashton and the players too much just yet. They have been little better than dismal the last 4 years. If they win the tournament I will praise them as a good team, but right now, they are an ordinary team (overall) who played just well enough the other night to get over a fairly good team (overall). We will see what they are made of the next two weeks but well done to them for rising to the occasion.

Fiji the poor b**tards! They were inches from scoring to hit the lead with 15 to go. Inches. Amazing tackle by whats his name the winger! But they exposed SA badly in attack. Holes everywhere. Just the experience and nous of the SA pack made the difference. Great dislpay from the Fiji boys!

C'mon the Argies! Jeez....imagine an England v Argies final?! Could spark another war!!!

  5. QUOTE(Doza @ 2007-08-29 11:25:09)

Sorry mate, you are just going to have to do the (not so) hard yards yourself to get all the details.

I would do if I was in BKK but bit difficult sitting here in UK

Well that would certainly make it quite hard to hirea video as well so if you can't even go there to hire one, why all the fuss to find out how much they costs etc etc then complain you can't find out for yourself because you aren't even in Thailand????!

  6. You have a culture too, which is just as important

    ###### right!

Just because you are living in Thailand, no reason to give up all your and half your babies culture. How many Thai people would be worried about farang cultural insensitivity living in farangland when it comes to their baby?!

  7. happens all over the world

I love this. Just because something bad that happens in Thailand, also happens in other countries, as soon as someone complains / mentions / tries to inform etc, people jump on the old "it happens in other countries too stop picking on Thailand" etc etc.

    Classic.

Maybe if there was a RestoftheworldVisa.com then that's where people could post gripes about tourist scams in other countries, but since this is Thailand (with an undeniable and unenviable record on the subject) why wouldn't they post here?!!!!!!

  8. This guys has wheels!- I remember him playing for the Auckland Blues a few years back, boy he is so quick, and has brilliant sidestepping ability. If he cuts loose against Wales in the RWC-look out

Fiji star Caucaunibuca out of Cup

Fiji have omitted wing Rupeni Caucaunibuca and captain and back-rower Alifereti Doviverata from their World Cup squad.

France-based star Caucaunibuca is currently serving a doping ban after testing positive for marijuana.

Won't be much cutting loose in the RWC by the looks of it!

I think Aus is due to meet the ABs in the semi again. Obviously we'll run over them and meet France who will smoke a useless England team and a shaky Ireland one, in the final. Australia will then go on to win the final after a dominating display from World's Best Prop Matt 'is that my pie down there?' Dunning!

  9. I just wanted to say that I have been following this thread and am just amazed at so helpful everyone has been. The honest advice and lack of disparaging comments is really very helpful and refreshing. I will definitely be coming to this forum more often.

I wanted to respond to this post in particular. I am also a Canadian woman planning on moving to Thailand within the next 6 months. I am not a recent grad and have been professionally employed for about 10 years now. My question is in regards to your friends in the non-teaching occupations above. I am trying to find professional employment, but find that the visa issue is... an issue and it's hard to find professional employment as I would be replacing a Thai. Your friends in the marketing, PR, food science etc. did they move to Thailand with these jobs in place, or did they manage to find professional work in Bangkok once they arrived here?

All moved here with their company (at the time), some have changed companies and even fields since they have been here though.

It is possible to secure a job after you are here, but it is NOT easy, and its all about connections. Depends on your profession. The replacing a Thai thing is kind of vague. Its easy for a company to justify a foreigner over a Thai if they need one (even though theoretically a Thai can do marketing / PR etc etc) Dont worry about it. The biggest issue is to find companies willing to hire locally. Most of the biggies will bring expats in. You need to network well. Simply depends on profession, and level of skill/experience.

  10. Well they are hardly drunks, just young guys enjoying their party time. Tuquiri will be lucky to make the starting side on current form but he is class so we'll see. Dunning is the World's Best Prop by far and a top notch pie eater who is an athlete through and through so a few beers will only make him stronger.

  11. I have a Brit friend who got a similar scam from "The National Lottery". I told him it was a scam but he wasn't so sure. He has no Internet connection so I played their game for a while

How did he get the notification???
