  1. Haven't you learn anything from past violent protests that gave the excuse for the police and military to use execessive and lethal force against protesters. Shutting down Bangkok only caused economic hardship for many and shift public support away from the protesters. MFP should continue with peaceful protests but should be a regular feature. They will gain more support and admiration for them as a discipline party and will serve them well in the next election. The current situation is a lost cause for them to have Pita as PM. The next election will be different with the amendments to the constitution.
  2. The appointment of Pol Gen Patcharawat Wongsuwan as party adviser is interesting. He was appointed Police Chief by Thaksin and was sacked by Ahbisit for his robust handling of PAD protestors. He then appealed and his sacking was overturned by the court. I think it’s building up to the party working with PTP coalition.
  3. His resignation will see many PPRP MPs join PTP. That may tilt the votes for PTP’s nomination for PM. Thaksin is engineering all the moves towards a successful PTP’s coalition government with Sretha as the Prime Minister.
  4. Democrat Party is likely to be split with some MPs joining K Korn Chart Pattanakia Party and will join the Pheu Thai coalition.
  5. I think the coalition will give Pita another chance if the court rules in his favor and all 8 coalition parties agree. It will still be an uphill battle to reach positive consensus from both houses. This will show unity among the coalition parties and support for Pita and will help pacify the supporters who feel betrayed.
  6. That was the land case you referring. As for the Shin Corp sale, it was adjudicated by the court and ruled in favor of Thaksin . Court further ruled that officials involved were not guilty of any crime.
  7. The ultra conservative 2017 charter drafters ensure this will happened. The never-in-history of Thailand’s constitutions that allowed joint bicameral voting for Prime Minister will guarantee the outcome when junta appointed senators playing the expected spoiler. Any form of coalition will need the PPRP or UTN to influence the senators on voting. It will also be possible that Thailand may be coup free for next 4 years. I hope the new government will made amendment to the highly controversial 2017 constitution. Going back to the 1997 constitution to have both elected houses will be a giant step to give the power back to the people.
  8. The best GDP growth for Thailand are in the years that TRT, PPP and Pheu Thai were the government. That is a good track record.
  9. Your point may mean something if he is your regular Somchai and he is not making any reference to the monarchy.
  10. He is the deputy prime minister Justice Minister and a legal scholar which made him credible when he made that comment to the news media. Try catching up.
  11. He may walk free after a day in prison with a royal pardon - Wissanu.
  12. Ground sentiments have shifted to hear the student activists sang happy birthday for Thaksin and the General who stage the coup against him called out for his return to help in national unity. The Pita’s factor has help his cause for his return.
  13. Yes. Both should be given re-trials. The treachery of the junta has been exposed by the egregious treatment of Thanathorn and Pita and there will be sympathy for the them to come home.
  14. The elected MPs have been certified by EC and given their certifications on June 24. House speaker appointment has been published in Royal Gazette. Parliament was officially opened by the King. First session has convened to elect the PM. The Parliament session has began with the newly elected MPs. The caretaker PM will seat in as the interim PM until a new PM is elected.
  15. If the speech repeats the previous HM’s benevolence on criticism, it will change the dynamics on the senates recalcitrance.
  16. IMO if the legal challenges are adjudicated that it was unconstitution, the Presiding Officer can expell the offenders (Parliamentary Rule) and perhaps even from voting. From my standpoint, that will narrow down the senates votes and give the advantage to Pita. In the sphere of public opinion, it will discredit the senates more than they already have. Hope and prayers all we got.
  17. A member of the Constitution Drafting Assembly, Sawet Thinnakul has handed a letter to the NACC yesterday seeking legal action against MPs and senators who didn’t allow Pita to stand for denomination on the 19 July. He want legal action taken against those who opposed Pita’s renominating quoting Parliamentary Rule No. 41. Payback hopefully. https://www.nationthailand.com/thailand/politics/40029653
  18. If the Court ruled that the rejection of Pita;s renomination is constitutional, then it follows that those who voted against Pita have committed an unlawful act and should be suspended or even banned from politics. I hope the MFP's legal team will push forward this case after court's verdict. Payback time.
  19. Well give him credit for hoping for a peaceful transition and not saying that the election was stolen.
  20. Not related events. Nomination was unconstitutional as Parliamentary motion can't be repeated. Court ordered him to suspend from duty as an elected member of the House of Representative.
  21. That will depend on the amendment. 2 necessary amendments. First the amendment on Senator Selection Committee and to change the Election Commission role in selecting the 200 senators. Since the National Council for Peace and Order has been dissolved, a new Selection Committee has to be appointed and royally endorsed. I think the EC's role can be an executive decision by the new PM. It is also paramount that MFP continue to support this amendments even if they are not part of the government.
  22. A difficult decision and PTP will exhaust all negotiations with MPs and senators before making a conclusion with the coalition parties tomorrow. The coalition will issue a joint announcement. All done in a amicable and transparent process. Pita understand the legal perils for him, executives and the party which likely yo be banned and dissolved. If PTP was to turn their back on MFP, there will be some discontent with their supporters but their base are still loyal. Red Shirts are not the base and they are a subdued force. Stay as an opposition block in Parliament is not a political solution when you have the chance of forming the government. A non functioning legislature body is not a political solution. The economy will be disastrous and no sensible politicians will want that. PTP have quite similar policies as MFP and will try implement them. They have 4 years to prove to the voters that they are on the same page as MFP in terms of reforms.
  23. Are you blaming the possibility of the failed MFP coalition on PTP and not the junta for the controversial senate appointees? You seem diverting the blame away from the junta.
  24. Got to hate that man but got to also say what he did was a masterstoke with the appointed senators. The 5 years senates appointment fall nicely within the legal framework of the election and the leverage it has on the formation of the new government. Dismantling this evil legacy will be harder if PTP was to form a new coalition with the junta and ally parties. The only upside is that the next senators will be appointed by a new body and not by Prayut and his croonies.
