So who is to blame? Is it not a good idea to move all government departments completely to a new area outside bkk? Do not grant companies permission to build more office blocks/towers in the city....encourage biz to relocate by offering them decent incentives. ?

Far too logical. You must have just arrived in Thailand (joking)

When somtum was 5 baht a bag. These back-in-the-day comparisons are silly.

No they are not silly. The exchange rate is not fixed as you obviously think to a bag of Som Tam. I would suggest you do a little reading of economics before engaging mouth

Strength? You mean back when it was 28.5 to the dollar? Good grief! That was before the coup, wasn't it? I could look it up of XE dot com, but am still working on my first coffee. Just to try to normalize our language here, 35.5 is weaker than 34.5. It means the same number of baht buys fewer dollars. I recall the baht fluctuated around 32 for over a year back six or seven years ago, then it strengthened to nearly 28. 28 is stronger than 32, because a given number of baht can buy more dollars.

Back in the 80's it was a little over 25 to the dollar

"Pol Sub Lt. Woraphan Kaewmorakot said that he was on duty at Pattaya South and Second Road when he was confronted by three middle eastern men on motorcycles.

He was ‘challenged to a duel’ and so attempted to arrest the men."

" Maj Somsri, who was on duty at Dolphin Roundabout, saw the three men and so jumped into the road to apprehend them"

" Pol Sen Sgt Maj Somsri Sima, Chief of the Traffic Department, was treated for a broken left collar bone,

Two different people. The policeman who was injured was not the one that was "challenged to a duel".

I'm still trying to work out what challenged to a duel actually means, pistols at dawn, rapiers or sabres?

As they are Arabs probably tea towels at 20 paces

The reform process should start with the appointment of a Royal Commission on Police Reform chaired by the PM and consist of judiciary, NGOs, private enterprises representatives besides the police. They will be responsible to set up a Task Force to implement key reforms. An Implementation Committee will handle the key reforms implementation. It seem that the Police Chief is really not serious in the reform and only gave a half hearted attempt.

    You forgot steering committees
