  1. The so called step up in BTS security has been in force since August last year.

If you think it is bad then try some malls. In Terminal 21 the walk through metal detector or whatever that thing is

beeps every time someone walks through it, the security think nothing of it.

The guy dressed in white just salutes everyone.

  2. ^^ have you ever heard of that happening ever ,?

If you are referring to the post above you

    Then yes it happens.

The cop will take your keys and park your bike up and give you a ticket.

You then have to go to soi 9 pay the fine return with your receipt before you get your keys back.

There is cop that when on duty at the junction of second road and pattaya klang

Has his ticket book hanging out of his back pocket.

I have seen him with 6 bikes parked up on the footpath waiting for their riders to come back.

Outside the police station on soi 9 beach road is also a hot spot for ticketing

There is times when they have to stop ticketing because the place is blocked up

With parked up bikes and people are queuing up to get in to pay fines.

  3. ...and call me crazy, but it seems counterintuitive to grant six month tourist visas only to require people to leave and come back every 60 days. Now I'm going to go spend money in China instead of keeping it in Thailand. But I guess that's just the way it is. Fair enough.

Did you not read the conditions of the visa you received before you applied for it.

Not much point moaning about it when it's your own fault

  4. Yes, expensive. How many servings you think a Chef can make out of that 115 Baht pack and considering a kilo of potatoes in Thailand cost only 30 Baht.

With standard gross margin calculations your cheap pack will do about 100 Baht per person on the menu, depending on class of restaurant. That is way to expensive.

Imagine two people eat 115 baht potatoes, that's almost the price of one kilo of pork. Bit out of balance wouldn't you say so?

Besides, quality is not even close to home made mashed potatoes.

That 115 Baht pack will make me about 4 - 5kg of firm mashed potato.

A serving in a restaurant is about 200 gram, that means 20 -25 servings, or about 5 Baht per serving, instead of 100 Baht.

That Casino stuff must be great. Sold out of course.

Left with the McGarreth and Pfanni brands. They both come around 100 Baht per kilo yield. Now that was what I meant the expensive stuff.

If Casino yields as you say 4 to 5 kg, then that is quite attractive, average 25 Baht per kilo.

Nice as binder for gulyash soup and the likes.

Casino brand will not be available anymore in big C

  5. Not racism.....just them versus us lot..................

We took the train from Pattaya to Bangkok last week

Cost me 31 baht as an alien and the Thai wife got for free.

We both had sore aerses after the 4 hour journey.

Your wife got free as you choose to travel 3rd class.

3rd class is free for Thais , it is there for the poor and those in need.

Your wife would have had to pay if you would of upgraded to first or second with normal seats.

31 baht for a 4 hour train journey and you are moaning.

    You deserve your sore arse

  6. Thais cop double pricing in Australia, and don't whinge about it.

That is if they can even get a visa to go there.

And like in Thailand, it is not a racist thing as some are claiming, all foreigners have to pay more than the Aussies.

If a Thai wants to go to a government school, primary, secondary or uni, they must pay thousands more, not just a couple of dollars. And I reckon fair enough as I reckon fair enough that the Thais do it.

Another point is I believe that to get a work permit a farang minimum wage is 40,000 per month. So while there are many Thais who do earn more than this, most don't. Tourists, if they can afford an air ticket they can afford an extra couple of dollars.

Sri Lanka also does it. But ten times more. Went to the zoo, and two of us had to pay the same price as twenty Sri Lankans. I tried telling the ticket seller I was a born and bred local Sri Lankan. She asked to see my passport. I told her I didn't have a passport as I had never travelled abroad. She was having none of it, so we had to pay.

The post above also says it is the same in Chicago.

Another point is Thailand is so cheap anyway, I save thousands by living here. It honestly doesn't bother me to not receive the Thai discount. Going to the cinema here is about a tenth of what it costs in Oz for example. To see the same movie.

Maybe they just do it here to annoy the cheap Charlie's.

Your wrong on more than one of your points
