  1. He'll get his comeuppance, for sure, because he's so thick that one day he's really gonna put his foot in it, and so deeply he that deeply upsets the wrong crowd. It's coming.

He has threatened the Monks about having a march of demonstration and my wife says if this is disrupted by the military in any way should the monks go ahead with their march. She said all hell will break loose but she said Mr. Coup man boss leader of the uniform code of military justice dude knows this.

  2. Good move.

This is a tax on the rich very overdue.

There are many rich Thais that own a lot of land and they leave it untouched as they have no need to sell or cultivate.

About time they pay their taxes.

This is unheard in the western world.

We all pay taxes for houses or land owned.

What I don't like is that they shouldn't exempt Buddhist temples.

They make enough money to afford to contribute to the country and not only take.

Wow! Church's are exempt including Scientology in most countries why not temples?? Just because here the Monks system of privately sowing what they individually reap should not be held again the Buddhist temples and the land they sit on. Somehow some way the lights have to be paid for and kept on. Most monks seem to have an entrepreneurial spirit in them. My wife has a uncle who is a well loved monk in their village and he is continually buying plots of land beautifying them and selling them to prospective new home builders. Likes to keep busy 555

  3. Plenty more fish inthe sea...try the Big Bleu next time...

    Plenty more sharks too laugh.png

There we go... a thought... LOS = Land of Sharks !! clap2.gif

Why is it that your conversations with your uninvited tenant DID NOT shed any light on the whereabouts of your Filipino and or her current status and or dispositions toward the Condo lease holder YOU??? Starting to sense a troll post again with a total fantasy dream story.. La la la la!

  4. Just wonder if she ever showed you proof she really was a teacher ? I think you know the answer to your ?

Take steps to protect yourself what ever that is. You left and now she is looking for security, that it what many of these women do.

There is a whole heard of them in Pattaya playing bad mitten during the day and bragging about how many sponsors they have.

What is a sponsor ? A poor sucker that sends a girl money thinking she truly loves just him and has no idea that someone else is also sending her money.

Plenty of proof she is a teacher. Certificates. So many days with photos of her at school that day with the children, her wearing the clothes she left for work in. Her teacher friends. Her going to the school near the condo to do a demo. The work she prepares for school on her laptop.

This is more than likely about money or lack of it.

Totally agree about people sending money when they are 'sponsoring' a Thai 'lady'. Not something I'd be inclined to do.

'While sponsoring a Thai lady for a PR it is a requirement that you show support to Canadian Immigration.

  5. Can't see anything tragic happened here.

You are in the UK, she wanted to make some money, she rented the condo.

She was embarrassed, so didn't want to get in contact with you......I understand her thinking.

    BUT

She is a good woman, she took care of you in your difficult moments and she is respected by your friends.

Just forget and forgive, come back and make up with her......difficult to find good women around.

Once again your Sage advice as no/zero bearing in the real world. Quit hugging your trees and move back to city life and learn of the twists and turns happening in todays real world.

  6. Thanks for the info and pics. I am in Buriram and have both sediment and calcium in my bore water. I believe I need to get a salt based filtering system for the calcium which is quite costly in initial outlay (29,000) and for the salt. Hopefully that will also reduce the sediment. I believe the government water here is poor and similar to your water.

I use filters that take out the following as tested by an independent lab. Costs me about $0.01 per gallon to process. All beneficial minerals are left intact.

Yes and a load of Manufacturers sales crap. Go ahead and install it and then get your independant lab tests done instead of posting this Manufacturer propaganda. In fact if anywhere true in the 99.9 removal rate and as you say>>> All beneficial minerals are left intact.<<<< NOT TRUE.. Zinc and Selenium for 2 needed by the bodies specially in an aged group.

  7. The problem here is that electricity is so cheap compared to most other countries that you can't really justify the price of Solar Panels. It would take so many years for the costs to amortise that a good many of us expats would be ashes before it happened.

As for cold showers; i take them twice a day for 10 months of the year and don't need hot water for that purpose personally. My main requirement for boiling water is to make my tea.

Dont' know where you have been buying electricity outside of Thailand but if you think this is cheap here then many would love to disagree with you here.

  8. I see that some of the usual TV "Thai beating crew" are having difficulty understanding the article, or don't give a damn about the facts as long as they can criticize the Thais (security).

The 3 foreigners (perhaps slightly intoxicated) were in a "heated argument" with other patrons.

The manager tried to calm the situation.

The manager was punched in the face.

    THEN

The security staff did their job protecting the manager and quite possibly other patrons from the 3 foreigners.

What the hell were they supposed to do? Let the three get away with it simply because they are tourists?

It seems to me that its a case of stirring up some trouble, losing and then crying about the outcome.

If you want to play hard, live with the consequences.

No argument from me mate, but you and I both know there are only two kinds of people on TV - bashers and apologists, at least in the eyes of some here. They're out to fix the world, one keystroke at a time, and I'm afraid that's not going to change. My personal favorite is a perennial here - 'What would these cowards do if we all got together and fought back ?' : ironic that in this case it would appear that the Thais did precisely that, admittedly with the numbers on their side. Have a look at the three individuals in the back of that truck and ask yourself how many TV warriors would be prepared to wade in when our biker friends were in full aggro-ant mode at 3:30am ? They had no problems punching a 71-year old in the mouth - I doubt they would have had any qualms with the rest of us. This is one instance where I'm glad the Thais got serious with a group of punters - I expect the bikers may have their own side of the story but at this stage it would appear they are up a very smelly creek without a paddle. Yet another example where losing it with the Thais gets you nowhere - the last thing I want to experience here is regaining consciousness in a cell knowing my life is in the hands of the RTP and the Thai justice system.

And now the Club and its contents must be on guard against forth coming retaliation and explosions I dare say

  9. Rather than open surgery, the more modern procedure that is commonly used for bladder and kidney stones is lithotripsy. This requires no incisions or surgery and uses a focused beam of ultrasound to break up the stones into sand like particles, which are then passed. That of course requires an expensive instrument and may not have been available in Udonthani.

As for your prostate issue, you should really see a good urologist about that, rather than a surgeon. Not to sound too depressing, but you will need to rule out prostate cancer as a remote possibility. Having had some experience with this and done quite a bit of research, I know of no medication that will shrink an enlarged prostate in 24 hours. The medications used to treat urinary difficulties for benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH) take weeks or even months to have a significant effect.

  10. I agree with Docno - generally, Thai people are very polite. Impolite people do happen everywhere, unfortunately.

Having spent much time in Thailand I think it is some other Asian race/s that are not so polite (putting it nicely)! coffee1.gif

I used to be polite now I am just pure down right gracious.wai.gif

  11. There are fools in every county, there are misguided individuals in every country, there are those who can be tricked in any society, I have found Thailand to be short on all those specified earlier, but then that could be just down to those I frequent, just like my home country.

You can't fool someone who isn't an idiot, an idiot in Thailand is still an idiot in his home country, don't blame the tool, blame the idiot.

Well...following your immoral logic....a woman raped....she must have asked for it then ?

WAY OFF TOPIC and totally not called for at all.

  12. As far as I am aware it doesn't signify anything - except that someone, somewhere has decided to put a collar on at some point in the dog's life.

You will often find soi dogs with collars on - as once upon a time they had an owner before they were dumped - or they maybe ran away and couldn't find their way back.

Also, many dog owners who allow their dogs to run free outside their home often put collars on them, to signify that they have an owner - somewhere.

Although it is supposed to be against Buddhist ethics, the soi dogs around Lake Mabprachan are periodically rounded up and 'disappear'. Whether a collar would exempt such a dog from being rounded up is doubtful, IMHO.

There was a big hue and cry a few years ago about dogs owners being required to microchip their dogs, but as with everything here - it was good idea at the time, but has long since been ignored by both the dog owning public and by the authorities.

That is only because micro chipping doesn't work here because of a very limited amount of scanners to detect chips

  13. Round here we have so ,they use to say 3 million chickens,on big company farms ,and some independent farms over the past few years the industry has grown,I would say the figure is near 4 million, and they supply 3 chichen factories.

Out side one factory what do they sell, Gie-Yang, barbecued chicken, use to be rows of them now a few less ,I would suspect supply and demand, has cut in ,too many sellers, not enough buyers, where does the chicken come from, so I have been told out the back door, not making the grade, what should happen to it,legally and since bird flu, it should be destroyed.

A dairy farmer friend of mine ,you go there early in the morning you will see them cutting up chicen carcases, maranating them put them on skewers grill the and sell them at the front of the house ,and the local market that evening, the carcass ,come another chicken factory, more than likely illegal.

We rear a few cattle ,and make Nappier grass silage,I was driving past a farm near me and I could see there Nappier grass it did look well, it put mine to shame,so I called in they had some Blar Dok ponds, and they were pumping water from the ponds on to the gass, no wonder it was growing well, but in the corner was a <deleted> off mincer, powered by a 3 cylinder diesel engine I said what is that for ,he said mincing up dead chickens to feed the cat fish ,now that has got to be illegal.+ hormone build up?

Back to the OP if the above is happening round here,it is more than likely happening elsewhere + more, the street sellers are out to make money, and if someone is selling some cheap chicken, ie, out the back of a pickup, they will buy it and sell it,they are not bothered where it has come from, or about hormones .

Most home grown chicken will be the black very free range chickens you see on farms running around not a lot of money in selling them. you would know if you are eating one a bit on the tough side, but no hormones a TV member wrote a very good piece about the Thai farm chickens, last year,

Is there any free range chicken in LOS,?in our sense of the word, no homones ,other TV members would know.

Why are some people against hormones in animals and altered field foods.? Join the 21 century for heavens sake. We need to mutate a little to be able to keep up with the changing planet and universe.

  14. Some dirtwad kept trying to get me to buy weed in Sapa, Viet Nam. I told him that it was illegal and that I do not commit crimes in a country in which I am a "guest." He was moving in on me again and again which was, I guess, to "plant" the weed on me! I kept this sleazy bastard at bay and, fortunately, my bus back to Ha Noi arrived! I was frightened and did everything I could to keep this <deleted> away from me! In my heart, I knew that he was working for the police in Sapa! I have also read where people were entrapped and had to pay huge bribes ("tea money") to get out of a jam or to go to prison! I never had this happen to me in Thailand; however, I am sure that this goes on quite often! Sad! Sad! Sad!

I feel for this Russian fellow who probably could not tell what was coming! Ouch!

If I could, I would give that man a hug and tell him: "Все хорошо!" (Everything is OK!)

People you and him will always be victims so always be careful where and how you tread.

  15. The big difference besides the financial requirements is that with an extension of stay based upon marriage (it is not a visa) is that you can get a work permit and work with one. With one based upon retirement you cannot work.

The extension of stay based marriage requires a few more documents than retirement and you will have to return to immigration after a 30 day under consideration period to get the extension stamp.

If you are using the money in the bank option marriage only requires 400k baht in the bank verses 800k baht. Or an income of 40k baht verses 65k baht.

At your age the ability to work if you want to could be a big consideration.

Freeing up 400k baht is also a consideration because you can invest it in anything rather than being restricted to a savings or a standard fixed term account.

You are going to have some people tell you that getting the extension based upon marriage is a lot more difficult but I disagree after getting 7 of them by choice. I have not found it all that difficult.

If on marriage, How does the financial reguirement break down if you have to match savings with income. Lets say you have half the 400k in the bank and you need to show income as well to match with it. How much income would you have to show? Half of the 40K ?????

Disregard as I see it was answered in a previous quote reply from ubonjoe
