  1. Many years ago I recall a dive trip to Koh Rin,  it was so long ago we were using the old pier, captains son was at the helm and made a pigs ear of casting off and turning the boat, and was stopped by a police boat before reaching the end of the pier, police came on board to have words.

When we reached Koh Rin the was a Navel Patrol boat out there,  there was another dive centres boat out there too, the patrol boat always positioned so they could watch both boats, every time a dive boat moved the patrol boat would move too,  after the last dive we set out to return to Pattaya, within 15 minutes the RTN were shelling the hell out of the island.

Thing is the better dive sites are out at the far islands, the biggest problem with the Near Islands, Koh Larn and it's two little sister Islands is the muppets on jet-skis who are a danger to divers, seems the military want to kill off Pattaya, full stop.

Pattaya is worse than Singapore, can not do this, do not do that, can not even play cards with a few friends without starting a international incident...

    Pattaya... R.I.P.

In 2 years time no more EU flags next to the Union Jack.

I did vote Remain but I am no Remoaner, my reason for voting to remain was getting out of Europe was we will be heading for uncharted waters through some very stormy waters, we could have stayed we knew where we stood, getting a poor deal because the in ability of successive Labour and Tory Governments over the last 40 years to negotiate a better deal by participating in in Europe, instead of trying get a place at the top table we shouted demands from the back of the room.

So lets get on with it and yes, can not wait for them blue flags to come down.

So appears to be a case of wasting police time

Agree, and I do not think it is Nitaya at fault.

Possessive husband who knew his marriage was in trouble twists the facts???

And could she just walk in to a Thai police station and say she is OK? would the police even know who she was even though this is a front page news story? if they did would they try to forcefully repatriate her with husband?

  4. Fact was the Pound gained on both the Euro and the Dollar by the end of business, and the FTSE100 was also up...

Basically everybody knew what was going to happen today and the money people had already bought and sold Sterling and shares days, weeks even months ago to reflect the UK leaving the EU.

Even Tusk's sour grapes speech was so predictable, yet if he wants to know who to blame he need only look in a mirror, if he had not been so intransigent and made some concessions when Cameron asked for help the result of the referendum would have been different, and Sturgeon would now be asking for another Scottish Referendum because Scotland wanted out of Europe...

though official notice has still not been given 9 months later. Carney jumped in with huge stabilisation measures. However, the pound has collapsed and inflation is hitting now.

We know that is happening tomorrow... further more I predicted it was likely to happen end of March/beginning of April straight after the referendum result was announced, makes sense, the government needed time to appoint negotiators and prioritise the aims of the negotiators but we can not delay it past this time as our MEP's term of office expires in 2 years, and we do not want to be electing MEP's for a short teenier or be a member without representation in the European Parliament.

Technically it is... for now :)

Well if Scotland ever does get referendum should not the Shetlands and Orkney islands have a separate referendum to stay in the UK???

Those islands voted very strongly NO in the Scottish Referendum and would have a claim to a significant proportion of the oil fields.

Hard on the heels of the positive news from the EU yesterday, today we get encouraging news about potentially the largest oil discovery in the UK in years, with experts talking about a multi-billion barrel reservoir:

Hurricane Energy’s Halifax well makes UK's largest undeveloped oil discovery

“We believe that the GLA is ... the largest undeveloped discovery on the UK Continental Shelf,” said Robert Trice, Hurricane chief executive.

An oil exploration firm has made what it has described as the "largest undeveloped discovery" of oil in UK waters.

Hurricane Energy said one billion barrels of recoverable oil could be contained within the Greater Lancaster Area, 60 miles (97km) west of Shetland.

The company hopes to begin production in 2019.

Dr Robert Trice, Hurricane's chief executive officer, described the find as "exciting times".

No doubt others will be honoured for their part in helping victims, they are surely known by the authorities. However they probably won't get the media attention of the MP.

Not so sure on that, although the police will if the can get names of potential witnesses, if I was giving first aid to anyone once the professionals arrived, I would tell them what they need to know and get out their way sharpish.

As I understand it, Ellwood was outside in the courtyard at the time and all MP,s were being told to go inside, he choose  to disobey orders and went to the aid of PC Keith Palmer, good on him.

The privy Council has more members than their are MP's, and the only time there is a full meeting is on the demise or abdication of the Monarch, normally only a select few attend meetings and the Queen always stays standing up to keep the meetings short.

I’ve saved quite a few lives;..... I wonder when Lizzie is going to honour me,

Oh! That’s right, for me it was all in the line of duty, and, I wasn’t a former British

    Army Captain or an MP

Any way,  well done Mr Ellwood for having a go.

    Have a Nice Day

    It was your job.

Apart from The Queens Silver, Golden and Diamond Jubilee medals, members of the Fire service may get:

    • The Long Service and Good Conduct medal is awarded for 20 years meritorious service.
    • The Queen's Fire Service Medal is awarded for distinguished service.
    • The Queen's Gallantry Medal is awarded for exemplary acts of bravery.

And some Fire Fighters have even been awarded the George Medal or George Cross for outstanding acts of bravery.

Well earned and a brave man indeed.

Was the Irish woman, equally heroic, also honoured? I truly hope so.

Joanne Saunsbury, aged 34 from Wexford town......

She rushed off the coach to help the injured - and initially thought she had ended up on the set of a horror movie.

She said: “One person there wasn’t moving. He was non-responsive and I was trying to get him to breathe and to get his heart beating, so I was doing CPR.

“The person I was helping was severely wounded... It was just horrific, there was blood and there were people lying in pools of blood.

“I was doing CPR until the paramedics came. I learned CPR from my training with the Order of Malta in Wexford, I kept it up.

A lot of people assisted... I hope they all will be honoured but in such a situation it will be hard to trace them all.

Potentially good news for the vast majority of Scots who want to remain in the EU:

Scotland could remain in EU after Brexit says report, as May prepares to trigger Article 50

"The European Parliament committee-commissioned report pointed out that Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man had separate arrangements with the EU. The territories, which are British dependencies, are not in the EU, but have access to the Customs Union.

However, the research commissioned by the committee suggested this meant there was scope for Scotland and Northern Ireland to remain in the EU ahead of an independence referendum in the two countries."

    You are quoting who???

Sounds like a snip from the Cranky's Gazette...

I remain amazed at the liberal argument that the Keystone pipeline is an environmental disaster.

How? Consider the trucks and rail tankers that will no longer be needed. A similar, “Oh, but the caribou will die” argument was attempted by the treehuggers to stop the Alaska pipeline. Not only are the pipeline and the caribou coexisting well, the caribou actually love the pipeline because it is warm and green grass grows around it even in cold weather.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_pipeline_accidents_in_the_United_States_in_the_21st_century

And that's just in the US, Nigeria and Russia come to mind re some dammed awful environmental disasters.

I don't know about yesterday, but I do remember that the last time I was passing by, about a year ago, there were armed officers on the Carriage Gate.

But as I said, we don't know exactly what happened, so there is no point in speculating.

What I am trying to say is they should have been armed, particularly when on heightened alert (Threat Level Server, an attack is highly likely).
