If passengers do not follow legitimate instructions from cabin crew they deserve to be thrown off the flight.  Somebody in your seat, you ask them to move or speak with cabin crew to get them to do it.  No way was anybody sprawled over seats before take off cabin crew would not allow that to happen.

Agree, Cabin Crew would want him seated upright and strapped in for take off, doubt he would be able to spread across 3 seats until all passengers are boarded, though some do try it on hoping the cabin crew might sit the passengers ticketed for those seats elsewhere,

Hey, hey, hey! Bottas got his first pole!!

He is a really good guy who does a lot of work to get results for himself and for the team.

Valtteri really beat himself after his mistake at Chinese GP. He also got over that mistake quite fast.

This was Valtteri's 3rd race on competitive car. Pretty well done.

I hope he'll be able to win the race tomorrow. This is to pop his cherry and get rid of the pressure for the future.

Should be a good race, and Toto does not mind who wins as long as the other is second.

And Veltteri is no rookie, Toto dug deep to get him, for now Hamilton is trying to stay friends with everyone.

  3. Not sure how much Dr Dao paid for his ticket but he was at best likely to only receive 4 times this to a maximum of $1350 as compensation for being a day late at his destination if involuntarily denied booking.

Looking on Expedia the cheapest return ticket on a Sunday ORD - SDF is $300, take half of that and times it buy four, that $600, also as I understand this was the second leg of his flight so nowhere near home so would have to find a hotel for the night plus substance...

No I would not be happy to be bumped either, all Airlines need to look at their policy on bumping passengers now as there are going to be a lot more stories in the next few days, weeks, months which is going to cripple many airlines.

Even with the sixty minute rule this is likely to mean bumping passengers who have already checked in, I can now see airlines looking for reasons to bump passenger, like accusing them of being drunk or abusive.

It's a hard task to make the traffic police do their jobs.

But there's one thing that is easy to implement:

Increase fines and penalties, 200 for no license??? Should be more like 5000 and not allowed to continue driving.

200 fine for no license tells it all. They are just not taking safety seriously.

Other stuff like tracking repeat offenders and taking their license or setting up cameras or making the police clean or having harder driving license tests. Thats all hard to implement. I mean, it takes some effort and work... But to increase the fine from 200 for not driving a license, that's as easy as sending a tweet using the power of the dictator.

Some people say "they are unable or unwilling" i think the 200 fine for no license on motorbike proves that they are simply unwilling. And thats way worse than being unable, i would go as far as saying that the people in power have blood on their hands. Unable and unwilling is the difference between manslaughter and murder. Looks like murderers running this country. What a suprise.

    Are there dedicated traffic units?

Could do with setting up dedicated traffic police units, with the equipment to do the job.

And Yes, tougher penalties, in the UK it is one offence not to have a licence or have an expired licence, driving while disqualified is a lot more serious offence and offenders may end up in prison, and one does not even have had to have a licence to be a disqualified driver, a national data base with instant access for traffic enforcement officers with toting up of offences leading to an automatic ban.

Also not having a driving licence should negate any insurance so that could be another offence.

I doubt the Chinese president would be part of a Japanese state visit.

The inspections took place on Jan. 26 and 27, just days before the state visit of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

Trump also entertained the Chinese leader at Mar A Logo...

Why Trump should want to entertain state dignitaries at his private estates instead of say Camp David? one can only think he is promoting his  personal business interests.

The man was asked to deplane under command authority inherent to the crew, the moment he failed to comply he was in breech of Uniteds own policy as outlined in their contract of carriage, and Federal Law. This police were called to ask him to deplane again. Again he refused and what happened after that is horrible but no reponsibility of United Airlines.

    • I have not seen any evidence of police in attendance.
    • The Goons who dragged him off the plane were security employees of the Airport, not police.
    • The assault up Dr Dao went far beyond reasonable force required to remove him from the plane.
    • The crew could have intervened and instructed the goons to stop when they started to use excessive force, by not doing so they are just as responsible as the goons for the unjust assault.

The reason given to him to get off the plane was a lie and United were in the wrong.

Yes they were in the wrong but that does not negate the fact that by refusing Dr Dao made himself a "disruptive passenger" allowing them to have him removed from the plane, forcefully if need be.

I do not know about American Law but in the UK basically there is Criminal and Civil, civil law deals with matters contractual, claims for damages etc, the Airline failing to fly DR Dao from Chicago to Louisville is a contractual matter, but DR Dao refuse to get off the plane as instructed, and thereby disobeying the instructions of the crew, made him a disruptive passenger and as such could have been arrested and charged and prosecuted under Criminal law.

Quite clearly the way the Airline approached this was well out of order and fortunately Dr Dao will probably be getting a lot more compensation than had he just walked off the plane as first instructed.

  8. Quote

The airline has confirmed it is "reaching out" to customers on United Flight 3411 and "offering compensation for their flights".

Bet there will be strings attached, United ownership of all video taken on board, confidentiality clause prohibiting passengers giving statements to the media or provide assistance to Dr Dao legal team.
