The airline said it had asked for volunteers to leave because additional flight crew needed to get to Louisville.

They were not even United Air Crew who they were bumping 4 Pax for...

They should have just upped the price until they had 4 volunteers, everybody has their price.

    Start with:

    • Free upgrade on next available flight
    • + lounge passes
    • + refund cost of tickets
    • + 5 star Hotel and meals
    • Then start with real money and just keep upping it until they get the takers.
  2. The only way to achieve this is to put senior police officers on performance related pay, determine achievable goals and set targets, with bonuses that would out way commissions from junior ranks and if they fail to meet targets then pay cuts, demotion and even sackings.

Democratic government had years to do this but were afraid of voter back lash.
Only problem is it will take years and thousands of lives. With social media now the news travels fast and thailand has taken a beating regarding its shocking road toll hence the quick fix with vans and pick ups

We have democratic government in the UK and our laws are a lot stricter than what Thailand is trying to enforce.

With few exceptions, all children under 12 years and under 135cm tall must use an appropriate child restraint when travelling in any car or goods vehicle.

    • All children under 3 years old must use an appropriate child restraint when travelling in any car or goods vehicle (except in the rear of a taxi if a child seat is not available).
    • Children aged 3 or more years old, and up to 135cm (approx 4ft 5in) tall, must use an appropriate child restraint when travelling in cars or goods vehicles fitted with seat belts. A few exceptions are permitted.
    • Rear-facing baby seats mustn't be used in seats with an active front air-bag
    • If seat belts are provided, you can't carry more people in the rear than there are seats fitted with belts or restraints.
    • Your child seats must be approved to the '03' or later version of Regulation 44, so an approval label with 44.03 or 44.04 is ok but you can't use a seat with 44.02
    • Since April 2015, child seats may also be approved to Regulation 129 (i-Size)
  4. It is a way of life... many families need transport and have invested in a pickup primary to move families and workers around and are now being told it is not suitable for purpose.

Maybe they should buy them mini vans which can not be used by the bus companies.

The only way to enforce this law is to introduce it in stages.

    Say:

    1. reduced speed limit and banning from motorways
    2. then ban from fast highways
    3. then only allow in rural areas
    4. then total ban.

P.S. I did not vote as I see none of the options appropriate to my opinion.

  5. Reminds me of when the guy (Westerner) sitting next to my XGF left his phone on the seat of a Baht Bus when getting off, it was a short while before it was noticed by another passenger, I suggested giving it to the driver but my XGF and the other passenger said not to as the driver would keep it, so we held onto it and not long after getting back to our condo it rang, I answered as I was expecting the guy to be talking English, instead  had a hotel receptionist phoning on his behalf so passed the phone to the XGF, he was telling the hotel receptionist to tell my XGF to bring the phone to his hotel, so I said to my XGF tell him to come to our condo well will meet him outside, our condo was not that far away, turned up on the back of a motor bike taxi, very annoyed that we would not bring the phone to his hotel, certainly no reward asked or offered, not even a thank you.

  6. Nobody (RTN,etc) is tacking any action against boats illegally dynamiting fish...

and it is happening, I have seen fields of staghorn coral flattened due to  illegally dynamiting.

Once I recall diving and hearing a very loud explosion (and feeling the shock wave), on surfacing the nearest boat was over 500m away, what surprised me was that we were very close to Sattihip naval base and I would have expected a naval gun boat to out very quickly as it must have deafened the guys monitoring the sub detection hydrophones, but nothing happened.

A team of divers from Mu Koh Surin National Park inspected the Richelieu Rock coral reef, a world-famous location for scuba diving, on Friday and found it to be intact.

Wont believe it until it has been independently verified...

one paragraph says it all, "everyone knows it is illegal to travel in the cargo bay of a pick up,  whats the cost of a pick up now a days ,1-5 million ?? for a "poor" family"  same old story flaunting the law for years, same as "poor" families buying  30,/ 40,000 baht scooters and cant affford helmets.

Middle class families have pick ups, poor families have scooters...

Technically the bike had right of way etc but what I dont understand is why the rider appears to make no attempt to brake whatsoever?

He would have seen that pick-up aways off, was he not paying attention or just no brakes ? Looked like he didnt even slow down.

No excuse for the driver of the pick-up though.

Possibly he (the bike rider) thought the truck driver was going to half pull across and stop to let him past, when the truck driver failed to stop the bike had to take avoiding action, if he braked he probably would have been run over by the truck.

Wounder if that was his daughter on the back, lesson on how to drive in Thailand.

    La Tomatina, Spain.

    Cheese Rolling, U.K.

    Pamplona Bull Run, Spain.

Just a couple of the top of my head...

Songkran is another, not stupidity but tradition (all traditions get warped with time)..

The world would be a boring place without traditional "mayhem & stupidity" or if it was run by a bunch of TVF members :)

Well Cheese Rolling happens in one place in the UK on one day of the year, and no one is going to lob a cheese at you when you walk out doors.

The Americans would seem to have some information on where the planes took off from, that launched the chemical strike.

50 Missiles is a lot, so I guess the idea was to render the place completely unusable again.

My guess is America has been gathering intelligence on this air base for a long time now, a blue print for this attack was pulled out of a filling cabinet and dusted down on Wednesday.

I further predict the rhetoric of Russia and America is somewhat different from what is said in private and Russia may have agreed to this attack being able to conveniently move hardware and personnel out of harms way, Russia was certainly forewarned, when I do not know but I wonder when the Russians told Assad?

I thought that this year's Songkran celebrations were to be somewhat restrained out of respect for the late King Bhumibol.

Samui seems to be an exception. With admission charges at 2,800 baht it is no surprise that money overrides respect.

No Samui will not be an exception... no the mayhem and stupidity will proceed throughout the kingdom as usual...

So, a bomb in a laptop is somehow safer in the hold than on the passenger deck!!!

The risk of a Lithium-ion fire is greater than that of a bomb, so stuffing all that Lithium-ion in the hold isn't the smartest of ideas.

Also a suicide bomber could just as easily put a bomb in his hold baggage with a timer or remote control activated with a key fob.
