Why sad?

Move south if you can and avoid east, west, central and northern Thailand. Maybe skip Thailand completely, because the southern beaches are covered in plastic. Thailand has finally become a failed state, with very little hope on improvement. Sad to say, but we are prepping our kids to move to greener pastures in the future.

Who cares about Laos or Myanmar?nDo uou think Chiang Rai is the only province with smog problems? There are hundreds of fires in Thailand, so lets focus on that first.

I have also lived here for more than 20 years and yes the pollution from traffic is indeed less, be it visually or in measurable. The heavy smog we see the last couple of years, however, are new. Thaksin economics promoted the multiple rice crops, which heavily pollutes the Central Plains, but the sugar cane burning is the icing on the xake. The entire East, West snd central parts of Thailand are suffering because of it. Just look at the pollution maps, large natural and forested areas in the west are polluted. Beach towns and resorts like Hua Hin and Pattaya are also suffering, so this problem goes beyond Bangkok or the North.

Arrest people who burn garbage, farm land, leaves, forest for mushrooms? Not rocket science, is it?

Bangkok's air quality has detoriated since Prauth came to power and started subsidising sugar farmers, and Hua Hin also suffers from the burning of sugar from December until March ( source Airvisual) The only part of Thailand that is not heavily polluted, except for 2 to 3 weeks a year is the south. South of Phuket that is.

Phuket is booming as it is one of the only places in Thailand without toxic smog. Chiang Mai, traditionally very popular during Songkran is gonna be a ghost town this year according to some CM locals.

This smog is nothing less than a crime against humanity. Thailand has 'evolved' into a country where a 15 year old risks a 7 year prison sentencecfor some grafity, but arsonists responsible for thpusands of deaths are ignored. Thailand has turned into a smog and plastic garbage wasteland, only worth visiting from June to November.

First step is to eradicate (police) corruption. A corrupted society will never share its wealth. Revolution is needed, because the present lot of oxygen thieves will want to keep the present status quo

Waste management is expensive and a waste (lol) of public funds, from the corrupt officials' perspectives.

The authorities had more than 70,000÷25= 2,800 days to dispose of this trash. How is it possible for a country to import plastic waste ftom all over the world, while drowning under a homemade garbage mountain?

Poor people cannot afford air purifiers , nor can they escape the smog by going down south for 3vmonths. Big difference.

It continues because nobody is stopping them.

The poor farmers taking their own lives vs the health of innocent children, is not a very hard choice.

If the agricultural sector conducts its business in a non sustainable way, resulting in tens of thousands cases of lung cancer, pulmonary diseases, children in hospital, then yes it should be stopped in its tracks. Burn your field, get arrested. Welcome to the age of information!

So money above 30,000 casualties a year? Same logic apples to an armed but oso poor robber, its all forgiven cause hes poor.

With these numbers and knowing that at least 30,000 people die of this pollution per year, one would expect a state of emergency with army shooting arsonists on sight.

Nasa firemaps also show a lot of fires within CR province, so unjust to blame Laos and Myanmar.
