  1. Chonburi DLT is in Mueang not Pattaya. They used to accept the YB/ID card but last time I went about 6 years ago they had changed to COR. Suspect someone from Pattaya had taken over. Due again in a couple of months but not going back, reactions now not as quick as they need to be to stay alive.
  2. Indeed, probably come about from the significant abundance of hearsay that gets posted. I got my yellow book in 2010 but Stage 2 of the Pink card scheme which brought in the expat type foreigner didn't start until 2016. Only since then could it be seen as a combination. The topic discussion should be focused on the yellow book as the pink card is just an addon.
  3. People should be thankful it is a fixed fee, many countries put it on hotel bookings per person/per night for those with a foreign passport. Coming to a country near you soon. Scotland is introducing a nationwide "visitor levy" (tourist tax), starting with Edinburgh on July 24, 2026. It is a 5% added charge on paid overnight accommodation (hotels, Airbnbs, B&Bs), capped at the first five nights. Other cities like Glasgow (5%) and Aberdeen (7%) plan to introduce similar levies in 2027 to fund local services. "Wales is introducing a mandatory "visitor levy" (tourist tax) expected to take effect in April 2027. It will add approximately £1.30 per person per night to most accommodation types, or 75p for campsites and hostels. Local councils can opt-in to apply the fee, intended to fund local tourism, infrastructure, and community amenities."
  4. That is only an adjustment to the base fares. They increased the fares very significantly as soon as the conflict started. A friend of mine went back to UK yesterday and that cost 53K baht one way, I booked it for him a fortnight ago, first available flight at the time.
  5. We are close to the Chonburi bypass and many are closing in the evening or have a 500 baht limit. Many people are filling jerry cans due to the expected rise in price and demand may drop slightly once that happens.
  6. I also said this "PS Just had a look on the Expats website and gobsmacked they actually sell Greggs, but I have never seen them in Siamburi's. The ones I have are warm on the counter."
  7. Nothing like a bit of context distortion. This is what I said "The sausage rolls in Siamburi's are quite good. It is all about personal taste and these are very similar to Greggs, if your a Brit you know."
  8. Over the years seen most of Thailand, quite a few good trips during covid. Also been around neighbouring countries, certainly a lot to see in the area. Will be 80 next year so slowing down a bit now.
  9. And how did that come about. Who exactly elected the US as a global leader. How many nations agreed to cast the first stone. People go to prison for taking the law into their own hands. Pandora's box has been opened and the whole world will suffer from US arrogance.
  10. You are entitled to your opinion, doesn't make it valid. If you fail one way, why not try another.
  11. I have never had Greggs frozen, only ever fresh, so not sure if they the same. Ones I had from Siamburi were also fresh and if remember right 50 baht each.
  12. The US seem to have forgotten it came about through a regime change from "within". The history books have shown it is the only way, but "might is right" prevails.
  13. Not very helpful, I am well aware of the data availability on the voice SIM. I just want to know who sells 12 month data e-sims to compare against a 12 month data addon.
  14. I would suggest that you try and gat an english speaking Thai national to go to the bank with you. The culture is such that they are less likely to try and fob off a Thai than a foreigner. Should there be any issues you will get a better indication of what is required. The fall back is of course an agency.
  15. I see no mention of long term data plan for E-sim. I have PAYG voice sim and wondered about getting a data e-sim but couldn't find one suitable, can't fit another physical sim. Data addon looks like best option.
  16. "informal long-stayers" What status would that equate to in other expat destinations.
  17. The sausage rolls in Siamburi's are quite good. It is all about personal taste and these are very similar to Greggs, if your a Brit you know. Siamburi products are available through Expatfoods but not sure about the sausage rolls as they may be local. I also quite like their Gala Pie. PS Just had a look on the Expats website and gobsmacked they actually sell Greggs, but I have never seen them in Siamburi's. The ones I have are warm on the counter. https://expatfoodsthailand.com/shop/bread-pastry/greggs-sausage-rolls-4pack/
  18. There are "people from other countries" and then there is the "islamic fundamentalists". The whole problem stems from a failure to differentiate, obviously the US learned nothing from the Taliban.
  19. Both are in the past and both are in the present, if you want to look in that direction. Most of us have learned to live with both.
  20. Only the delusional would think there would ever be anything normal in a country where martyerdom is embedded in the beliefs.
  21. There is hundreds of pages on covid, is it something to worry about.
  22. Good to hear. I am due to go next month and was hoping the flights may be a bit less crowded.
  23. Spoken like a true brexiteer, and obviously you think the horse lies through it's teeth as well. The reluctance to post the real figures is noted. "Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) [footnote 2], including the self-employed, are the backbone of the UK economy. With 5.5 million firms making up 99.8% of the business population, they provide 60% of private sector jobs and generate over £2.8 trillion in turnover [footnote 3]. Our entrepreneurs and businesses are a source of incredible passion, ideas and agility. They drive growth through innovation, competition and job creation" https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/backing-your-business-our-plan-for-small-and-medium-sized-businesses/backing-your-business-our-plan-for-small-and-medium-sized-businesses-web-version
