Fyi most Americans are horribly  skilled drivers most cant even properly park a car after obtaining their driver license in the USA.So to demand higher speed in Thailand with hardly any skills to back this up seems insane!!

I am not a supporter of higher speed limits (that is for the state to decide) but I do support better education of riders (this includes lessons of accountability and responsibility), tougher licence testing and TOUGH enforcement that has a future deterrent effect (hopefully) for those guilty of breaking the road rules.

In the meantime, ride safely, defensively, expect the unexpected and ride to live to enjoy the experience.

On highway max 100-120 km than all other roads 50-70 km.just like all other vehicles.speed kills!

Speed does not kill - it merely increases the severity of the accident - driving/riding too fast for the conditions (plus not wearing safety gear) is what kills.

Think(!) about motorcyclist doing 20km/h in a 50km/h or 100km/h zone, wet road, comes off bike hits head against concrete curb and dies (now or later), it wasn't speeding that killed him. "Speed kills" is just a catchy slogan used by people to explain why they hate those who break the law.

North Korea has learnt that having nuclear weapons is indeed a deterrent against attack. They saw what happened to Libya after they gave up their nuclear program.

So, this is an almost intractable issue. Presumably, their warheads are already distributed so a surgical strike would not work and would certainly result in retaliation.

I can't see any option but having China apply pressure and using severe sanctions.

I hope that Japan does not obtain nuclear weapons as a result

"I can't see any option but having China and using severe sanctions".

Agreed  and I would also add in that a missile strike or invasion of either South Korea or Japan will bring an immediate missile (possibly nuclear) response from their ally, the U.S. (and maybe others), as a further deterrent to the loud mouthed little fat guy.

Asia (or the world) does not need the U.S. making a pre-emptive strike. A draconian response will be sufficient.

At the moment, I hope fat boy is choking on his loss of face.

Lack of attention is inevitable   you don't seem to understand, it is something every driver including yourself is guilty of....it is irrelevant which party....if you think you have 100% attention 100% of the time you are a danger to yourself and others.

On of the major problems of road safety is that motorists are incapable of self assessment...studies have shown that the kind of thinking or assuming that you gave just made is prevalent  everywhere not just Thailand.

Wow, you have some knowledge about my "attention" that I did not know? And why would my attention be a danger to others!

Having been a motorcyclist for 45+ years (incl. a period of racing them) I can clearly claim my attention has kept me alive and without any serious injury.

Is their anything else you know about me that I do not? Rhetorical question.

  5. Kim Jong Un is a fat public posturing fool. A huge windbag - "bring an annihilating strike". Little fatman wanting to be big fish in small pond (his own backyard). I do not think the U.S. will initiate a war with the regime but if the regime was to start a war with the U.S. then the regime will cease to exist! That is a fact whether we like it or not.

BTW, I am not a U.S. citizen or resident.

It is also worth bearing in mind that whilst human error is the root cause of up to around 90% of all RTAs, most incidents are not the result of rank stupidity or rash driving....they are usually the result of a millisecond's lack of attention and the blame  - If you insist on it is usually attributable in varying proportions to all parties involved  This is not the same as the law either.

I would think that lack of attention is stupidity. Riding motorcycles requires 100% attention! At the end of the day, whether the motorcyclist is in the right or wrong, the motorcyclist will pay the price for any accident.

Therefore 100% attention IS required. Ride (or drive) to live.

As for the boy racers my message is get out on the track and see how good you think you really are. The bulls_hit stops when the flag drops!

Wow I have metal scraps nails screws even some gas and oil around somewhere, does that make me a bomber ??? No where in the article are they accused of doing any harm to anyone but themselves. Its songkran, ever hear of making your own fireworks in thailand ??? lots of people do it and some of them dont know what they are doing and this is what happens. Grow up and see the real world as it is not your sick imagination.

Making bombs or making fireworks are two different things!

The streets may even be patrolled by Tourist Police,  bot, sex dolls just to frustrate the herd of the mentally challenged even more! :sorry:

I think you are too kind, sir.

The police do not make up the law (usually) and it is unfair to criticize them for having to enforcing a law that they did not create. That being said, if the purpose of this law is to reduce road deaths it will be ineffective because the vast majority of road deaths in Thailand involve motorcycles or passengers on motorcycles.

How often to you read or hear about pickup bed passengers being killed in an accident?

Really? Their (Police) job IS to enforce the law whether they like it or not!

My opinion is if you're asked to leave a plane for whatever reason, you do it. As soon as you resist that request, you're asking for trouble. Sorry, I can't go into any more detail. I'm exhausted from discussing the topic here and with my friends. Dipterocarp nailed my thoughts on the issue. If you need any more clarification, check out his post at #305.

OMG. If there is no "threat to security" reason ,then the law is an ass and your defending it, right? Do you work, consult/an agent or an employee for an airline?

"Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely."  I can only guess that that the United CEO has blinkers (used on horses) on, cannot think outside of the square or is in capable of critical thinking!
