  1. Koh Samui Hospital (government run) have the blood stores on the island, the other hospitals order it from there. You can leave your contact details with the blood unit in case they need you, and also give blood there when needed.

quick question, how do you find out what your blood group is? As i have no idea what mine is and i might have the right type

Good news ! Enough blood has been found and is on its way to BKK. Thanks for everyones help.

  2. Oh! I forgot one more catagory of people I don't like. Your sort.

Vivaldi eh? Well as long as it's not forced through crappy sound systems.

Yes I live on earth. If you can take your head out of your arse long enough to look around you might like it.

So its Israelis, Indians (like you mentioned in the Phuket Forum), my sort.....and who else ?

May its time you put your head up yours and leave it there......

  3. Are they any good? The thought of being surrounded by pissed Isralies and tie-dye global citizens makes me cringe.

What nationality you rather prefer: Germans, Brits, Dutch, French....?

Is the music any good? From my experience Thais see louder as better.

No of course the music is not good, they play Vivaldi, Haydn, Mozart etc at low volume so that you can still hear the ocean

    Any photos?

Do you live on planet earth ?

  4. Is there going to be a Full Moon Party this end of June on 29th. Seeing the postings over here seems like everything has quiet down over there! Thinking of going but having second thoughts now! Please advise if it is a good idea to go this Jun 29th

I would think there is, but better check again closer to the date.

  5. Let us know what Hospital your friend is in, makes it easier to spread the word

    Hope all goes well

Bangkok International in Koh Samui .. contact number given already ... Max, phonenumber 08 50694979.

Wrong, he is in Bangkok at Lerdsin (not sure about correct spelling) Hospital. But you can still donate here.

sorry, my mistake, I just assumed it was here as I am going in to donate at Bangkok samui hospital at 9am tomorrow and I had heard that the person is a Samui expat... and the posting is in the Samui forum ...

No worries, and thanks for helping out.

  7. Hello,

One of our friends is in hospital, waiting to have an operation. But they need about 10 units blood type A negative. This is a very rare type.

If anyone can help please contact Max, phonenumber 08 50694979.

    Thanks

Sorry, got A+, but I am sure Bangkok Samui Hospital will be able to get the blood type from BKK if you can't find any donors on the island. Good luck !

  8. As of the 1st June the Beatles Bar will be closing down. The owner wants to sell or sub let (for ridiculous money) and doesn't want to run it anymore.

As a result of this, bearing in mind I was told late Friday pm, we shall be having a Closing Party to benefit our staff who have only been given a weeks notice that they haven't got a job any more.

This benefit will be on Thursday evening 31st May, so for those who want to help out, say goodbye, or just have a good night please come along and join us.

    Spread the word too please.

    Best Rgds

    Steve

Any idea about rent and key money ? "Ridiculous" sounds scary, however, I thought I might ask anyway.

  9. for about a month and a half now there have been virtually no tourists in thong nai pan yai... is it like this everywhere in samui/phangan right now? i heard koh tao was hopping! i know this is a relatively low season but this has been ridiculous compared to previous years... people in this village are freaking out because they can't make money to eat! what's going on!

I have only been once at TNPY, usually go to Noi and it looked okay about 2 weeks ago. Are there many resorts and restaurants on TNPY and which are the best ? Seems like you live there and I would be interested to know.

Samui is slow indeed, I guess we are still spoilt from the last 2 years which have been good, but now back to pre-tsunami levels and worse since there are more hotels/restaurants/businesses with equal amount of tourists. I guess it will be survival of the fittest for the next few month.

  10. Well, having solved the booking problem I turned up at the airport in Penang yesterday at 9:30 am, nobody at the desk. I loitered until someone came along and sat behidn the desk, he checked my confirmed and paid ticket, spoke to someone on the phone, then told me the flight was not going today and directed me to the ticketing counter. Went there, the guy told me no flight today, no flight tomorrow, maybe on Thursday and I should come back then. MAYBE! I'm not sitting in Penang waiting to see if firefly decide to go or not. So I asked for a refund (takes up to 3 months, apparently) and had to fly to bkk with airasia then back to Samui.

If you are lucky enough to get there on a day that they fly I'm sure it's an easy solution, but if you are on a fixed timescale (e.g. you need to leave Samui that day for visa reasons) then getting to the airport and being told to come back a few days later might be an issue.

Can confirm this statement as screen in USM yesterday read :"Cancelled".

Very unreliable service and I doubt that they stay in business for long.

  11. one more thing..

All the "old Time farrangs" that have been on the island for a long time (you know.. I have been here since before the airport, and those were the days...) have good contacts to sort out problems..(you know... I know the village pooyai or i am very close with this or that and they are a well conected family)

unfortunatly those coming for a holiday dont have those "contacts" and when something goes wrong and they get into trouble the police volenteers are there to help and assist.

I realy can not understand the negetivity in some of the replies. alot of the threads are about hoe everything is wrong and how things need to improve. when some one is actually doing something and dedeicating time to do it they become a ridicule.

They open themselves to ridicule driving around on large BMW motorbikes Looking like a pair of ****heads and whether they actually improve anything is a matter of opinion. Are they fluent in Thai if not what is the point?

Chaweng has a dreadful parking problem maybe you could volunteer to be the first volunteer farang traffic warden :o

They are not doing any harm, thus let them be what they wanna be. If they can help a tourist here and there, why not, it's only good for the island. I believe they have them in Pattaya as well.....

  14. Here we are:-

Not trying to be rude, but is it normal to ask customers for donations to re-build your place ?

What's wrong with a donation? It's a free BBQ!. If your that tight don't go.

I think Gaew and her staff deserve better than half-assed comments such as yours.

I was asking a normal question, if you can't give a normal answer, better keep your full-assed comments for yourself.......better donate to buy a proper insurance cover.....that would make sense....

Guess you won't be going then........!

    Good guess ! :o

  16. Although I don't like the salesfolks myself, timeshares sell better than anybody on this board probably realises, unless they work themselves in that industry.

Any figures to back this statement up ?

    No hard figures,

But I've been talking to someone who has been involved in this business for a long time, also on Samui, and that gave me this opinion.

Feel free to question my statement.

I see, so it's your opinion. I won't question your statement no further.
