Expastaff1308 is absolutely right. 65k per month proof of income to British Embassy, they will provide a letter at approx 2500 baht....That's it for income.

    1. In Pattaya you can take your income evidence to other Consulates and they will supply the letter which is fully acceptable.
    2. I hold an Irish passport & my partner holds a British passport she provided her's and I provided my proof of income to the Italian Consul in Soi 12, Treppesit Rd,. He (a lawyer) provided the letter next day at a cost of 500baht. Nice man, very helpful.
    3. Immigration happy.
    4. No trip to Bangkok required.
    5. It is advisable to complete a week in advance to allow for holidays or unforeseen mishaps.

I'm Danish and went to the Consulate:   Denmark/Norway in Pattaya Jumptien with all tte evidence and papers concerning my income. Waited and received document for use at Imigrationoffice Jumptien for my retirementvisa .

  2. I'm pensioner and Thailand is my home 6 month a year (1.Nov.- 1. May) My friends in Denmark often say or write on FB: "Have a nice Holiday" and I tell them it is notlike Holiday. I live in Thailand for 6 month and behave close to my dayly life in Denmark in summertime.

When I stay in Thailand I am not longing for DK and when I'm back in Denmark (Summer) not longing for Thailand.

So what are Russians doing in Thailand? Is it to boost tourism? Or does Thailand really want these kind of people?
Really can't answer this, but something just makes me wonder, WHY?
    Just my thoughts....

One pedophile does not incriminate the entire Russian poulation. There have been Americans and Australians and Europeans arrested for similar crimes. One individual is just that and you cannot stereoype an entire population by one person's actions.

KED You are absolutely right !

They've been on this guy for 3 years and will probably have enough evidence to put him away and yes he's probably as guilty as sin.

However he is at this time a suspect yet they photograph him for all to see. Too bad if he turns out to be innocent

They did the same with Freddy Star in the UK so this isn't having a go at Thais it's having a go at any country who does the same.

I have no problem with no bail if the evidence is overwhelming but I totally disagree with photographing anyone involved in this type of crime until after they get a guilty verdict

Even if a suspect turns out to be innocent it puts massive doubt in others and that person can be ruined for life.

You generally have a point. I have allways wondered how in Thailand they show the accused dirrect on the scene and from police station. The same with accidents.. Much different from Danish law and ethics.

  5. I prefer to shop at "mom and pop" stores, and the local market.

However, there were a few of them, that charged me different prices than Thais. (charged me more)

Same with some of the stands at the market.

I don't like to see (at least I didn't when I first moved here), western chains like Tesco Lotus, Big C, Mc'Donalds, etc. kind of stores moving in.

I feel that they (western franchises) take away from the culture here and also take money out of the local economy.

However, they do charge the same to everyone, so, I started going there. mostly for that reason.

Now, most all the "mom and pop" stores are gone.

More and more convenient chains are everywhere, where the small family run places used to be.

The Thais can blame it on themselves IMO>

Of course they wont' and won't blame the dual pricing system,

But, that's the reason I moved on.

So, IMO things will sort themselves out.

But, it's not a good thing.

The culture will eventually die out and you will all get what you wish for: All the same rules that you have where you came from.

Western chains take over in Denmark too and we don't do double pricing. All this arguing of double pricing is for people

there wants to kill time. Thaipeople get a discount because most Thai not have the sort of Money like outsiders. OK for me. People complaining shuould be happy they can stay in cheapThailand. If doublepricing upset them so much, they couldn't afford to live in there homecountry. Be happy for Amazing Thailand instead of complaining and mouning about this and that. You have a free choise to stay or leave.

And how long have you lived in Thailand, and do you pay any sort of tax here?.

Some Thais are very well off, more so than many Farangs, not all but some.

Yes we have a free choice to remain here or leave, the same as we have a choice to support any establishments that discriminates against us.

My personaly stay and econony has nothing to do with my attitude.

Just keep mouning an see a half emty glass of Water instead of seeing a haf full

    .

If You pay so much more for Your needs in Thailand than Thais do, it must be You whom don't know how to cope out there.

    Final from me

    .

Hope You one day wil find happiness in Your life out there.

  6. I totally disagree with you. It is not a higher fee for farangs. It is a lower fee for Thais. Everything you say is the same in USA. Go to a Virginia historical site and show your USA ID. Discount given. Many places do that. Do you think Americans discriminate against Mexicans, etc. You bet they do. You should be discriminated also but not necessarily in a negative way all of the time.

Really you should stay in the country where you were born but you live in a foreign country. There is a huge difference being in another country - language, cost of living, culture, etc

For example, what does $10 mean to you. That is a whole day's wages for a Thai. They would like to go out also but cannot because you have increased their cost of living by simply being here as a tourist, as a business owner, big corp selling into this market, etc. You caused the inflation along with foreign companies that want to do business here. You have actually ruined many of their lives. Now - get on track - pay more!!!!!! Let the Thais - who own this land and are citizens of this land - have their normal price that should go along with $10/day income. You pay more! I am American and have no problems paying more. I should.

Most Thais I know make 3-5 HUNDRED THOUSAND baht per month; I make a fraction of that so what u say is utter crap

Sent from my GT-I9300T using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

Not crap ! You just proved my point. You can survive in Thailand and obvious not in Your home country.

  8. if you mean that double pricing is ok, than it is also ok, that you not allowed to sit in a bar because you are black, or chinese, or latin. or when you get fined in court for an offence you get 10 years for something a thai get 1 year, so your thai bank can charge you for your bank card 3000 baht a year instead of 300 baht,

too many racist here on TV, double pricing is one of the hardest form of discrimination, what is in all the countrys where you are come from illegal and a crime!

if you dont care in Thailand than be a big guy and pay all the time 10 times more for the product you purchase. An dont offend people who dont want to pay more for a product than what is the real price, because they also not get a 10 times higher pension because living in a double pricing state, or get 10 times more for their work than market value.

You are complete out of line with Your examples. The topic is about "doing Things", not buying things or anythings else.

Troll, thats what You are and You succeded to make mewaste my time to comment on Your writing which made no sence at all.....

  9. I would say that it's just about time for you return to you born country and pay 3-4 x the price for what you pay down here.

You have stayed here too long now and you need to go back home, to get your priority in place.

Out here you have more buing power that at your home country.

Maybe if you move to Combodia, Laos, or Vietnam, far out in the countrysite you get the lokal prices. But what can you buy. Lokal stuf, that you don't like anyway.

Anywhere in the world in turist areas you pay more for you things and Thailand is a very big turist area and you pay more than the lokals do. If you had in income the same as a lokal Thai,Ii really could understand your complains. You probably got 3-4 times as much as a hard working Thai and maybe even much more. So what's the problem?

I really don't understand your complain and think you have very small shoes to walk in. You are grumpy and think of yourself as somthing special that should have special prices and treatment. But gues what you already have that, you just forget how good you have it here.

So go home and pay 3-4 times more for your things and try complsin about it there and se how far you get with your complains.

I see it as you just make it more problematik for you to stay here in thelandof smile and you really don't derserw to be hare with your attitude and your opinion towards Thailand and leve to those who are happy here.

Don't walk around being this grumpy, it brings you down. Stay happy and enjoy that you are able to stay here at all.

Life is better when you are happy and you live longer. Grumpy have no joy and live a Shorter life.

(Sorry about my bad english, but it's my second language, but hope you understand what I'm trying to tell.)

You need to up the meds mate. People like you don't add any wisdom to topics other than give your own views that cannot possibly help any tv members or the OP. All this crap about adopting things to suit others through or own expense is HOGWASH !!!!!

Well spoken Hrkurtjensen. Not carap !!!

  10. I agree with OP however its ingrained into Thai policies and ain't gonna change anytime soon. In fact, I think your better off. Why? Because my missus always say's give me the money and I'll get things cheaper.

In the long run would have been better paying the prices cause she always - KEEPS MY CHANGE !!!cheesy.gif

    LOL ;-) :-)

Incredibly poorly written article with hardly any real information or actual reporting to back it up. After reading the entire piece, I know next to nothing about the subject at hand. Do we really need articles to tell us that slavery is bad? Don't we all know that? Then why not give actual information?

    Answer Your questions: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/733327-trafficked-into-slavery-on-thai-trawlers-to-catch-food-for-prawns/?utm_source=newsletter-20140611-0752&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=news

  12. You could live like a king on that money here....but I don't drink or smoke and own my house.

No You cannot live like a King don't say that. Not fun living in Thailand and have to turn every penny around before spending.

As written by others above, make sure to take everything in concideration before a permanent move to Thailand..

    Tha´ts just my opinion.

  13. I often see mentioned 800.000 bath is a requirement. I'm not so sure:

Look carefully and se for Your self.

    http://www.thai-consulate.net/thai-retirement-visa.htmlation

I'm from Denmark 72 Year old. Got my retirement visa january this year at Imigratin office soi 5 Jumptien.

Brought copy of my pensionpapers to the Danish consulate to proof my monthly income and they produced

a paper in thai for the imigration office. I filled in the proper fromular and paid and picked up my retirement visa the day after..

As I come back Again November a polite Thaiman handing over my papers advisede me to at the same time get a reentering visa,

I did so filling in the formular and paid the fee. Great for me.

Hope You will have same positive experience.

  14. To follow up this issue: Have a Non-Imigrant-O Visa. Went to img. office soi 5, January this year and got my Retirement visa without problems.

Gave them the required formular + paper issued by the Danish/Norweigen consulate in Jumptien verifying my staus: monthly income and what else needed.

March 31 I go and had my 90 days extension and the cleark at the desk asked me when I will leave and return. Telling him I woud leave april 28 and return nov. 1. He adviced me to fill in a formular for RE-NTRY PERMIT telling me I would avoid starting all over in Denmark going to Thai-embasy replyng for new visa and pay a higher Price. Very thougtfull. Thank You to that particular Thai man.

  15. Makes me wonder how you manage to pay the costs for visas, visa runs, hospital charges, 800,000 baht for a retirement visa, or whatever.

Visa extensions are really quite cheap in Thailand. I pay under 5000B/year, including my re-entry permit. There aren't many countries where it would be this cheap and easy to prolong a visa for a year.

If you have a retirement extension then you dont need to do visa runs.

If you have a (suitable) pension then you dont need to make the 800K deposit.

And if you arent ill then you probably wont be spending money in hospitals.

Of all of those the only problem might be the hospital charges, if you are unfortunate to have to go there.

You are absolutely right KittenKong in Your statements. Further, I supose there is no chance of cheap Health Insurance in Thaiand ?!?
