Neither would I but I accept the risk I am taking, but for me its natural to wear the necklace because i have for so long already. I am attached to wearing it, by locking it up it has no use nor value to me.
I understand Your point, as long You have a strong fastener !!

I also have a nice gold chain i got 26 years ago for a birthday have always worn it too. Not as fat as this one and made from 18K gold (so a bit more sturdy). Nothing wrong with wearing something like this never had any problems. Though I don't spend that much time in Pattaya but no problems in BKK.
No rules without exceptions ....... A man felt out his balcony from floor 10 and survived. Still I would take no chances...

Sorry to be negative, but I am afraid that it will simply lead to more deaths and injuries when an accident happens.
In total, 3,919 accidents occurred between Dec 29 and Jan 4, killing 478 and injuring 4,128 people. Most of the accidents (36.6%) were caused by drink driving, followed by speeding (31.31%). Most, or 81.82%,...

Whereabouts in Hua Hin does it leave from?
This will mean a Chinese invasion of Hua Hin, I bet the ferry won't do 30 knots in rough weather and trip will take much longer times.
Your guess may be as good as others ;-)

Interesting - maybe that's why the ferry idea was revived and now (against practical opposition) quickly implemented. It's aimed at "tour groups", and we know who that means....
No I do not know. Means what ?

As a single, an offer that gives me a chance to get to Hua Hin from Pattaya quickly and cheaply. I would never dream of taking the trip by bus or minivan. I would if I went one day take a taxi and pay a very high price. Too long and too dangerous a journey..

Well already moved the problem of boats launching to Jomtien, apparently because of pollution in Pattaya, so now Jomtien will have the same issue.
What is actually illegal about tractors towing boats? I assume the tractors are registered for road use, or am I dreaming? and if not registered, surely registering would fix this up.
Everything seems knee jerk reaction, the underlying problem not being fixed and all sorts of excuses made for the knee jerk.
Traffic jam I suppose..

I agree.
4 hours from getting on to getting off will be closer to the mark than 2 hours.
You must be joking, double the time ?!?

This is ridiculous, even if they can do, which they can't I will never be on a boat that travels anywhere near that speed.
And You never fly. Just as ridiculous if you ask me....

I think the guy storming out of the restaurant was being rude. This is just another case of “Why don’t they do it my way?”. People move to a foreign country and then expect the locals to follow the rules of etiquette derived in and coming from a place they have never even been to. We are the uninvited guests, so why do they have to adapt to our cultural norms?
So right You are

IT IS RACISM ...pure and simple ...Cracker or dare i even type Nigg**. Pak*, chin* whats the difference (as these are actually shortened country names)
thailand is a very racist country ask them what they think of Cambodians or Burmese to start with
I disagree with You. Farang used by Thaipeople is absolutely harmless. Maybe some Thais don't like Cambodians and Burmese very much, but not because of racism. They are in matter of facts overall the same race, but not the same standard of living.

Not sure if I missed the suggestions?
I think somewhere you stated you were only 59?, you not plan to work etc.. in Thailand therefore I assume you are retired and getting a pension?
If your pension receive is over 800,000 baht per year, you do not need a bank account. You can provide a notorized document from the U.K. Embassy (at cost) each year when you apply. You can also do a combination to meet the requirement, for example, 400,000 in Bank and 400,000 in income.
I do not know about C.M. but here in Pattaya when I first applied 10 years ago at the Immigration and last year help a friend through the process, if you apply in Pattaya, you do not need a physical nor a police report. It is much easier doing it here than home, but you will need the extended tourist Visa from the Thai Embassy before applying.
You might also think about attending a Expat Club meeting, I believe there are a number of one's in C.M.
Good luck.
Alternative to 800.000 bath: Generally, the requirements for "retirement" from the Thai authorities:
Have income of at least 65,000 baht / month.
Monthly income must be confirmed by the British embassy or consulate to whom you are filing your documents.

The good times in Pattaya ended for me when the 1980's were over.
Kinda makes impulse's point.
Yes, absolutely true. But people who are not aware of what the place was like prior to the end of the 1980s have no clue as to what you are saying. It is all about having a "reference point." The good news is that we experienced some great times in the past. I would extend the "good times" to about 2002. After that, it has been downhill in many ways (still, I like the new mall and Starbucks and some Western places to eat that we did not have in the past). It is sad that present and future generations will never know what the "good times" were really like. Those times are gone--forever.
Who care about "The good old days" ? Take it as it is to day or leave it !
We all have a free choise...

So a guy just walked off the street and started climbing up a tower crane and nobody on site grabbed him. Where was everybody sleeping.
Who wants to catch him on his way up risking your own life. A job for professionals in my opinion..

You cant trust a thai woman.
Who can You basically rely on, but Yourself ?!?
Thai- or farang woman/man make no difference in my opinion.
Have a nice day
-
Ok. I will put myself in the firing line and say that whilst this is an enormous tragedy and that the man is entirely to blame for what he did, we should also consider the other side of the coin.
This type of thing is happening in many countries and I believe that there is more to it than meets the eye.
Any man that has ever been involved with a woman will know what can be done by them without remorse whatsoever.
That the guy is an animal goes without saying but the psychology behind the event remains to be seen.
Whatever remains to be seen,.never any excuses for killing Your children.......

Cheap or not cheap 30000 bth a month for a single person ?
It all depends on price of renting condo and if You have own transport etc.
I would rather hear what will be a realistic amount to have to spend, when overheads is paid ??
Overheads varies from person to person. it is more or less an academic discussion.
Some write about living as couples and own their home. A different subject !

As allways, many stupid remarks from some nutcases

Up 23% was announced recently for the first quarter....Maybe a better quality tourist.....
Pattaya businesses are reaching out harder to attract people so maybe the cheap charlie sexpests are slithering away.....
Yeah, up 23 %. Chinese Tour Buses that is, packed with high quality tourists from China.
- European "sexpests" may have realized, that it is no longer necessary to fly halfway around the globe for some "erotic entertainment", since eastern Europe is so close and the entertainment-fees are about the same.
Let's make no mistake: Pattaya stands and falls with " erotic entertainment". True quality tourists do NOT vacation in Pattaya, It's like as if the east coast elite of the US would select the South Bronx as their favorite holiday destination.
Cheers.
"True quality tourists do NOT vacation in Pattaya" What do You know about quality tourists ?? I am not sure You are the right person to judge on that subject..

Sigh!!! Again?
Please tell me. I sometimes see the Word "Sigh" what does it mean ?
