  1. There is often a delay of several (say, 2 to 3) months for the best known brands. BTW, I picked up a Tab 3 10.1 in the States about 5 months ago. It is paired with a combo case/bluetooth keyboard. I really haven't used it all that much, but the intention is to carry it on biz trips rather than a laptop computer. I think it is a nice tablet. It is fast and has an excellent screen. I use it with a 64gb micro SD card and have been more than pleased with it. YouTube have some tutorials on replacing the battery which was a plus for me. I can't see the wisdom in getting something like an Apple iPad because it is next to impossible to change the battery in the bloody thing with serious risk of destroying the tablet.

Better off buying a battery pack if you want to extend the use.

Not much difference between Tab models so far, 1, 2 and 3 almost identical.

  2. Came over from the UK, not so long ago.

Just to let you know CM is between 1/2 and 1/4 the price of living in the UK.

Council tax and housing being the major areas of saving.

Quite a lot of the Thai prices on Numbeo are high.

    I only pay 30bht for a cappuccino, 12bht for a 440ml bottle of Pepsi, 104bht for a KFC combo.

  3. You sound like a lot of men, who are led around by their sensitive little prongs, dying to spurt and empty their blue balls onto the first female thing who is willing.

I am beyond wanting sex with anyone, not all that keen on female company at any time for any reason.

Old men chasing after sex is a little bit sad IMHO.

Cup of tea while sitting in the sun reading a book is about as exciting as it gets for me these days.

Sounds like you would be happier acting your age.

    PS

    Mutual pleasure!

No woman, of any age, wants sex with a 50 yo man for pleasure, she wants your money, that's what she wants.

  4. Poverty is not an excuse and can never justify the act of doing something wrong.

And how about directing your concern for the lives those drugs would ruin if she had not been caught.

Not sure providing drugs ruins anything or anyone.

Those who want them will find a way of getting them.

If they can't get them, those who will be destroyed would merely find another way to destroy themselves.

  5. As for me. I live in the beautiful north of Thailand, I have wonderful Thai friends, business partners, and social relationships. I eat fresh healthy food for a fraction of the cost of most ANY other place on this planet. Housing is stunningly cheap, and the list of daily life positives is literally too long to list here.

    What about the smog?

I'm in CM, and it's a real choker.

  6. Nothing more we can add on this now boring topic which just goes on and on year in year out and will never be cured until the cause of the problem, yes the rip offs, stops.

so what would be a fair, non 'rip off' price for an album in Thailand do you think?

    Free!

Musicians should allow their music to be downloaded free of charge and make money from live performance.

There is not enough income from live performance, how much do you imagine a Thai performer charges for a live concert, then who pays for the stages, lighting, transport, dancers, make up, security, promotion, song writers etc etc. All this dippy hippy <deleted> about 'free music' is just that, why should it be free any more than any other pleasure in life?

Seem to be lots of Thai musicians playing in local bars and clubs around CM.

The dancers and band at the local temple concerts, have stages and seem to be making money.

Shouldn't real bands be writing their own songs?

One of the largest problems in the world, people thinking they need to pay for enjoyment and entertainment.

Lazy western thinking from people with too much money and too little imagination.

The best things in life are free.

  8. It helps when you have a fixed income and no fortune, a lot. I could walk away tomorrow (I won't) with the same income as I have today. I help the hard working family around us when I can, they have helped me out in time of need. I fix up the home and pay the bills. I wonder if problems like this lay with people that have a few millions to spend? I do all construction work myself so I don't go paying crooks and imbeciles to build a house that is over sized for our needs.

Buying a woman a house is Gods way of telling you, you have too much money.

  9. If everybody would follow ur comment.....bye bye thaivisa...

Not at all, the forum is a great place to find information and discuss different topics. However, no one has asked or cares whether the OP is leaving Thailand or the reasons behind his decision.

    totster smile.png

I cared, and I found the OP interesting.

I would like to hear more, I would also like to hear how the OP gets on in China.

  10. And you don't feel you have an obligation to your child.. its only normal to have to pay for support of your child.

Seems you have a problem paying for children you are the father of.

Prenups always seem to help, I know they do in the Netherlands. Of course they won't help you if you father a kid and rightly so.

I don't feel any obligation to my children unless,

    1. I get an equal choice in the decision to birth or abort.

    2. I get 50% custody.

While the entire decision to breed is 'up to her', the entire responsibility for the child must also be 'up to her'.

Having a baby doesn't give a woman the right to a free ride off me for the rest of her life.

But actually, in the UK, apparently it does.

Her body, her decision, the guys responsibility.

And not to mention, in the USA, as I already pointed out, you don't even need to be the father, you can be made to pay.

  11. robblok, you trusted your betrothed so much you needed a pre-nup? How did it go? My understanding out here is divorce is generally 50/50 but I may be wrong. Try divorce in the West with a couple of kids after 2 years and let me know how much it cost you.

Sent from my GT-I9500 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

Ah yes because in Thailand you dont have to pay for the kids you can just ditch them and dont care about them. Many guys just escape to Thailand and dont pay for their kids. In my eyes they are trash (those guys)

But again your comparing apples with oranges. At least in the west you can protect your assets if you want too. But most guys aren't smart enough to do so. I am all for paying up for the time spend together and compensating her but I am against her owning half of what i previously owned (West situation not Thailand)

As for the pre nup.. im just sensible, why would i want my previous owned house go to a girl who did not pay a dime for it. So that is why I had a pre nup and it saved me. I still had to pay alimony but that was it and because the marriage was not long I did not have to pay that long either.

In the UK there is no way, as a man in a relationship with a woman, to protect your assets (Vasectomy and prenup before marriage might swing it).

One baby, and a judge can take it all, not only existing assets, but a large chunk of everything you earn for the next 19 years.

Prenups in the UK are invalidated by child birth.

America, even worse, as a husband you can be forced to pay child support for any child you allow to live in your household, even if from a previous relationship. Even if you believed the child to be yours, but subsequently find out it isn't.

In Europe, the Nordic countries are usually even harder on men.

  12. I have four dogs and my immediate neighbours 8 more in total. When they see me getting ready for the afternoon stroll and feed the fish in the pond, I usually get what I call (in my head) a patrol in strength maybe 7 or 8 come with me running ahead tails a wagging, I love it, chasing anything in sight. Putting around on my motorbike seeing all the locals doing their thing, continually amazed at how many pretty girls there are even in the ville

BTW I never really got the whole ocean/sea thing where does one start and where does it finish seems like a grey area to me

I hope you clear up all the dog poop that you trail around!

    But betting you don't.

  13. I've not been in Thailand all that long.

Wouldn't describe it as beautiful, dirty, polluted and covered in litter might be a better description.

I'm in ChiangMai and even the air is dirty, so dirty I can hardly breathe.

Same as many other third world countries.

But it is cheap, very, very cheap compared to the UK.

And warm, very, very warm compared to the UK.

But OP is right in that we can't change anything, cheap, warm and dirty is OK for me.

Can't talk about the Thai people, not impressed by the ones I find in the tourist areas, haven't met any from anywhere else.

Not to mention I can't speak Thai, and the Thais (outside tourist areas) probably can't speak English, French or Spanish.

  14. Any street in any major city in the West (with a few exceptions) will depict a wealth gap that is far less prominent that the one here. Walk anywhere in BKK and the signs of widespread poverty are everywhere. Not even talking beggars here - I'm talking about hotel staff, 7-11 staff, massage women, bus drivers, security guards and cleaners etc.

The middle class in the UK and Europe is massive. If you're not on benefits and you're not rich in the UK and Europe, then you're in the middle albeit between some very widely-spaced goalposts.

You can still - at a stretch - get a mortgage, finance on a car, a new LED TV and still have enough left over to feed yourself reasonably well. That is NOT the case here. Here, those jobs I mentioned earlier don't pay anywhere near enough for the people doing them to call themselves middle class. They are poor. They can't buy houses, cars and LED TVs ............even on credit.

The wealth gap is the same in the UK as it is in Thailand (large).

The difference is, many of the poor in Thailand own their own land and home.

Much easier for the poor in Thailand to get a loan, loan sharks everywhere.

In Thailand the poor don't freeze to death in the winter, and they have plenty of food.

I would say the poor in Thailand are much better off than the poor in the UK.

Middle class in the UK is defined by education and occupation, not income or wealth.

On benefits with a degree is still middle class in the UK.

In Thailand if you can show income of 15k a month, you can get a mortgage.

How much would you need to earn in the UK?
