I don't know how you guys are claiming it is an easy shot. A police officer popped his head up over the roof edge and the shooter aimed his rifle at him. A few seconds later under high stress and without a scope repositioned and hit the president in the ear. Trumps head was also moving the whole time. A phenomenal shot IMO considering the stress, urgency, and lack of a scope.

Enjoyed the read and I too was in in Bangkok in 1971 for a year but I was 4 years old and don't remember. Bet you have some interesting stories. When did you come to Thailand to live? I have mostly stayed in condos but the last 4 in rural Thailand in a small house we built on the Mekhong river. It was not supposed to be a permanent living arrangement but it seems to be now. About 3 kilometers from a small tourist town but secluded enough. Need to enjoy your own company and a funny partner helps. She is always doing something so rarely see her around the house but love the evening with her. Interesting life but still not sure if it is where I want to be all the time. She has places in Jomtien so that is always an option but usually spend only a month each year at one of her places. All my homes are now my ex wife's assets 🙂 She deserves them and I'm better off with less money to get into trouble with here in Thailand.

Lay in bed doing nothing or in bed doing something. In either case, never for me but I do spend hours in bed each day after waking up. I have a great setup with a big Screen at the front of the bed attached to a nice mini pc, a nice view of our fish pond, and a kindle on the nightstand. Hard not to sink in and let time roll by each day. Schedule: 6am -Wakup and my coffee is timed to be hot at 5:30am 6:15am- try to have a bowel movement 6:30am - earlier if unsuccessful with pooping, bootup pc to journal and do whatever I fancy for 1-3 hours. 9:am ish - waddle over to my exercise pain cave and jump on the treadmill or smart bike. Situps, pushups, etc 11:00 - try to fix something that is broken around the house. I skip this often 12:00 - Back in bed where partner delivers a whopping lunch full of protein and healthy stuff. I tell her she doesn't have to and I'm capable of making my own but she insists 🙂 12:15 - more internet on the PC and eventually the Kindle and a book to the point it slips out of my hand and I fall asleep for an hour. 3:00 - wakeup and try to fix something or clean. Eat some processed junk so I'm fueled for the rest of the day's adventures which depending on my training cycle, is usually another run through the hills around the house or if raining back in my pain cave exercise room. It rains here a lot!!!! 6:00 - a couple drinks and more pc time and reading before bed. I rarely drink or smoke weed to excess anymore. I wonder why I do either because I don't even get buzzed. actually quit smoking weed recently. That is a wrap and as Mr. Rogers would say - Welcome to my world". Not exciting but satisfied I am! Throw in some trips and do some random things each week and my mental state is all good.

Some truth to this^^^. Many people I know are voting for him but despise him. I was not completely honest. I too have had a few that went well but I've been here since 1998 and have seen some unbelievable squabbles and usually about nothing. I get triggered by people that treat condo's Thai staff like idiots and bullies in general. Those conversations never went well. Usually karma was what got them. The two worse have had terrible health issues in their 60s and I actually feel bad for them I think.

I have rarely seen the manly talk go over well here in Thailand at condos. I've gone that route and seen no good come from these talks. It takes a lot to bother me so when I have that talk the person is over the top offensive. In a law abiding country it can work often. Here jerks know they can get away with a very loud motorcycle for example. I bought a condo here from a person that had to move to Cambodia because of a manly talk between neighbors. He will never be allowed back in Thailand. Like you said, the best option would probably to let it go. Or do as i stated and scare him without vandalizing his bike. May slashing his tires with the note 🙂

Be careful and consider the consequences of bad planning. Don't do it at the condo and video cameras are everywhere now. A very descriptive note of what may happen to him if he isn't more considerate after 10pm placed on his motorbike might help. He has to know why whatever you might do happened to him and the note will cause anxiety at least. In the note let him know you are patient and it might take months but it will be done. If you do get caught somehow placing the note on the bike at worse you just get an arse kicking.

You are in Pattaya so you made that choice but get the frustration. I just laugh at the fools and feel sorry for them. Think what miserable life most of them live that a loud noise between their legs gets them excited and the are unaware that others hate it. If it happened regularly after 11pm I would probably do something but not sure what. If they were real arsseholes then I would make it my project for a week to make their life miserable and they wouldn't have clue it was somebody at the condo they lived in that created the misery.

My bet is you will be eating your words in the coming weeks. There are conservatives that are Trump haters though and he might be one of them. It amazes me that "some" conservatives that base there party membership on religious values vote for Trump. Weird world... I'll probably vote for Trump but it has nothing to do with religion.

Ironically I'm reading The Day of The Jackal at the moment. Started about a week ago but I'm a slow reader. The shooter in comparison planned meticulously but this kid just seems to have made a spur of the moment decision. Grabbed his gun and climbed on rough top near the President with almost no planning. Lots of details missing but I'm guessing it was a one in a million type of occurrence. I definitely could be wrong and possibly this assassination attempt was an inside job but doubt it.

Who is this replacement? So your theory is I think; an unknown super candidate is waiting in the shadows and somehow Trump knew this and had someone fire a shot and then he used a razor blade to cut his ear. Sound logical...

Many spend much more than 80k and are miserable and loads of 25k spenders that are grumpy losers. It's the person's character that is the main factor. With the right frame of mind you can be living the dream on 25k while others are trying to buy the next item or whatever that will make everything peachy without realizing they are living a turd of an existence.

I'm 57 and been here since 1998 but really don't partake anymore in the things you detailed above. Loved the post and feel I understand the scene more. I guess I'm on of the borderline oldies now and prefer the late 1990s through 2010. Things move on and happy you are enjoying yourself. I do miss my version of your night out 🙂

Because this thread is full of nutters that can't comprehend. Mike is trying to help but he is actually just throwing more Chum in the water and those with common sense get to watch this debacle with semi glee. In the end, as I stated in October, Mike will be demonized by the nutters that loved him in October because basically he "is" telling them to calm down and try to comprehend what he is saying. Can't expect Mike to remain a sane indefinitely among a crowd of nutters that have strange agendas. It would be better for him if he stopped chumming and repeatedly provide a list of reasons we won't be paying taxes without mentioning once why some might. He could list 10 reasons why we won't be paying but if he lists one why some might pay then nutville will lose their shttt for our entertainment. His capacity to try to communicate with the nutters is admirable and comical at the same time.
