Weird post. I stated that Harvard has few lower income students. You tell me I'm wrong and then go on to list the reasons Harvard doesn't have more lower income students. We seem to agree! Harvard has few lower income students for many reasons including what you detailed in your reply. I'm OK that you agree with me that Harvard has few lower income students and I have not disputed Harvard's nor your justifications for the low number of poorer students. There are many obstacles for poorer students and you detailed many of them. I agree! Am I missing something???

99% of the people posting about either party on these types of threads. The threads are bickering fests. The OP enjoys trying to make people angry arguably more than any other poster on AseanNow. Also loves to virtue signal at every opportunity.

Not for me. I worked very few years but figured out quickly I could separate myself easily by working harder from my piers. Within months usually the separation was obvious to others and money came next. Also, very lucky along the way and it could have gone pear shaped a couple times. I was hot headed back then. I never liked working easy nor hard. Figured make just enough to retire and get out.

Cool story! I would never make those type of sacrifices knowing the end result is far from guaranteed. Probably why I don't have children. Also, the wife and I are smart enough and exceptionally gifted at enjoying ourselves but lets just say the kid would have to hit well above his/her level.

I probably agree with much of what you wrote above but don't engage in this silly game. Harvard is embarrassed I assume because of its VERY VERY low income student enrollment. Harvard supports work force quotas and diversity but being an elite institution they don't feel the rules apply to them. Only other lesser institutions... They are the Nancy Pelosi of the elite institutions.

I agree that many of the MAGA crowd are blinded by Trumps charismatic personality BUT this type of herd mentality from liberals is why I switched parties and voted for Trump this go around. Liberals have to look in the mirror and stop marching blindly behind the party elites. Liberals should start voting in non elites and politicians like Berny Sanders that really care about their welfare. I don't believe Berny's policies are realistic in many situations but he does sincerely care about his constituents. Now compare that to Nancy Pelosi... She probably spends as much time thinking about the normal Americans in a years span as she does putting on her makeup each morning.

I got the info from a liberal media publication CNBC 🙂 Harvard doesn't supply much info because ---- well it is embarrassing 🙂 More importantly, you should read my post before replying. You supplied numbers that have nothing to with what I posted. Read my post again and slowly 🙂 Harvard is for the wealthy and yes a few normal people get in but they should be ashamed on how few lower income students attend and hence their PR department releases the data you posted with little context.

My younger self did it for many reasons and at times it was to improve my status. Now I do it because it makes me feel good and I try to do it semi anonymously. My wife always knows but doesn't announce it. Nothing too large because I'm not loaded but 7k for a new roof recently and paying for poor kids to have pizza or whatever at our place. I probably should give more and I live near some very poor villages that are mostly Lao. Maybe this year 🙂 Wife has her own money so I think people think she is paying. Not sure about this - maybe they think it is me. Don't have to deal with the uncomfortable meeting with the families. That is probably the best part. I heard on the morning village loudspeakers yesterday that my wife donated money for something and that is what I no longer need or want. I probably in some sense want the family to know I contributed but prefer avoiding the uncomfortable meeting to thank me.

I'm trying to relate why people participate in these types of threads. They go nowhere and everybody gets a rush trashing others. Interesting and I wonder why the OP enjoys starting them. She/he seems like an intelligent yet nasty individual.

Well I'm one of the posters above and I'm not old. I simply don't make a habit of insulting older people. I've spent the majority of my years since my late twenties in Thailand. I never got pleasure as you seem to condone by insulting older people. You state above you don't attract the women you are interested in. Below is what you wrote. That is too bad and I feel bad for you. Not a good place to be in life and hopefully things change for the better. I could never imagine being in your predicament. Wouldn't want to be you. As for me, unlike yourself, I still do attract the women I'm interested in and am currently in an incredible relationship with most beautiful women I've ever been with. You are living in the past it seems and looking for love in the wrong places maybe. I adapt and enjoy the realities of life today and don't waste the energy as you seem to on the past. No, I would have never been accepted. I'm just going off of intuition and the little data that Harvard puts out about the wealth the students families. You seemed to have done well for yourself and congrats! I like reading stories like yours.

I know and it is entertaining watching some of the younger crowd trashing older men dating younger Thais. Do they really think we can't see the irony in their attitude. There has to be 10x the number of younger socially inept youngsters here vs the back west that are now gods in their minds. Clubbing and generally living a life of a real player that was impossible back home. Not all but MANY. Good for them but hating on others is silly.

Scandinavia is amazing IMO except it is frickin cold. Definitely a success story but when you have small populations and a huge amount of natural resources, you can be extremely wasteful with no consequences. Now, put 50 million people into the country and see how easy it is to share the natural resources. 100% sure the outcome would be terrible.

Easy to understand. It isn't the place but it is the person. This forum brings out the worst in many people that isn't exposed in their real life interactions. I wonder if the person they are here on this forum is more a reflection of who they truly are at the core. I would like to think it isn't. Agreed if you are in the bottom 90% of income earners it offers very little value and might even be a net negative. It is really not about the education but about the networking. The expense is nothing to the rich and the "very few'' poor students that actually attend Harvard are rarely in the same social groups at the university. Harvard lets so few poor people in that there is almost no opportunity for them to network vs other less affluent schools or other options. What I find entertaining is people defending Harvard where they should be upset with their policies that keep the poor out and limit their ability to network. All they need to do is put on a liberal facade and pretend to care and many liberals fall for it.

Hmm, but about 70% of enrollees families are in the top 20% of earners and 4.5% in the bottom 20%. Assume some far lefties are organizing protests to rectify this 🙂 The wealthy and powerful part of the left knows exactly how to fool the masses and has been doing it for a long time.

No, they just hate their pathetic life and need a cause to add value. Most grow out of it and become normal lefties. The issue with the party is the petty tyrants on the extreme left became the face of the party, resulting in people like myself supporting a President that is ethically challenged. We need someone like Trump that is strong enough to hopefully obliterate the insane extreme left and hopefully get the liberals addressing issues that the majority of Americans see value in supporting. Think there is value in having a strong left that is legitimately concerned about normal Americans.

I have that same list. I have never supplied 12 months of statements and just supply the proof the money has been seasoned for 2 months and standard letter from the bank. At least that has been the case my last two extensions and what I remember was required on previous extensions. It seems I'm a rarity and everyone else is supplying bank statements for 12 months. I keep asking other to verify they have done this but nobody has confirmed. Anyhow, thanks everybody for trying to help! I was only concerned about my 90 day report and got the answers I needed. I'm not concerned about my extension. Bedtime...

No agents in Ubon that I'm aware of and that is exactly what I did. I provided proof of 2 months seasoning and the normal letter from the bank. Actually had them print out 2 months of statements because my bank book had gaps because I hadn't updated it in around 8 months and it didn't show 2 months seasoning. I really don't think this a rare occurrence but hey I definitely could be wrong. Still weird you called me a liar but whatever floats your boat. I could just be explaining the situation ineptly but doing my best 🙂
