Why not tell it how it is ?
It seems humans are a factor but not 100%. You can look at scary graphs that include urban areas or look at non-populated regions to get a better picture. Why do that when you can scream the world is doomed like Greta. Below is a data from the arctic. Worrisome - yes but not even close to what "many" environmentalists are selling. I just picked a part of the globe that isn't impacted by urbanization. If my logic is wrong, then tell me why without making this into a competition. https://arctic.noaa.gov/report-card/report-card-2022/surface-air-temperature/

True but he stated previously he hasn't been near a hospital in 50 years. Probably just a mistake. His story is missing so many details.

Solar uppgrade
Thanks for taking the time to help out. I'm going to give this a try. I want to put together a dummy proof system that is expandable and have some great ideas how to go about it. Have a metal shop across the street and a great welder with lots of time late afternoons to put together a moveable and expandable mount for the panels. He charges so little it is basically free. I will be able to slide in panels as needed with no need to mount individual panels. Extremely windy here but even the 200 watt panels used for security and night lights I glued to the roof are still doing fine after 4 years. Thanks again! Forgot - can you charge your EV? I assume I'll have one sometime in the next 5 years.

Solar uppgrade
It rains where I live hard and often. I read a post you made somewhere else and it seems like you have close to the same power needs I have. I currently only have one 20k BTU ac( another in the exercise room but don't run at the same time), a fridge and a dedicated freezer. The rest of my needs probably total around 300 watts. I would probably use my other AC more often and run my pond pump( 400 watts) 6 hours if I was using solar so my needs would match your needs if I remember correctly. What is the max capacity of your solar panels? How many kWh is your battery pack? Do you get at least 10% of the panels capacity on rainy days? Sorry for all the questions 🙂 last one for this post I promise. I setup panels with an inverter on my DIY camper so I have a basic knowledge of a solar setup but have no idea how difficult it is to tie into PEA. Is this something I could do myself with the help of locals to mount the panels?

Why open a beer bar?
It's a challenge and they enjoy the social aspect of being an owner. Not for me but I know a couple successful bar owners. They aren't making a lot but seem happy. Problem is that most t never get to enjoy themself because they lack the skills and luck to make it here.

Thailand to tax residents’ foreign income irrespective of remittance
Hard to fault your logic. Your situation is obviously different than mine and you have more possible tax issues I assume. I'm trying to empathize with others fear but apparently have not succeeded. As for my situation, preparing would be of little advantage. If the tax laws are changed, there is not much I can do now that I think would make it any easier. I no longer own property here and don' intend to in the near term. Possibly the reason for my lack of concern. My relationship with my GF of 4 years is my biggest concern. I'm sure she would follow me if I moved but how would that impact our future is undetermined. She has investment properties here and other obligations. We are both under 60 and very healthy so I think we could adjust but I hope we never have to move. I love it here in Thailand and have been here for the most part since 1998. That is why I occasionally read these tax threads for information. From my perspective, people on AN are more confused than they were in October last year when the first tax thread appeared. I myself have gained possibly no further knowledge that wasn't acquired that first week in October. Some posters rant about the impacts of the new laws and their intentions to leave without providing a valid source of their concern other than a what if and that does frustrate me. I would rather have posts about what has been implemented or will be implemented and not these IMO crazy scenarios presented as facts. With that said, this thread isn't about what I need 🙂

I too want to be prepared but this thread hasn't helped as of yet in the least. Maybe more info will come out in the future on this thread or others of the same type. Cheers!

Thailand to tax residents’ foreign income irrespective of remittance
Good point . Many 2nd and 3rd world countries do the same for some reason but do wish I could own land. Countries have different laws to the benefit of their citizens in most cases. I think Thailand has treated me wonderfully and easy visas and reporting are the best part. I will try to follow these tax threads and glean what i can but at this point there is not much to be gained. Not saying the threads are not needed!

Thailand to tax residents’ foreign income irrespective of remittance
Good points. I believe that if you filed a tax return in your country on income earned there then no taxes should be paid here. Should poor individuals be taxed here that fall under the tax threshold in their home country? I don't think so and it is chasing peanuts. The new tax laws are IMO chasing the offenders that aren't filing tax returns in any country (Thais and expats). It is a guessing game at this point but in the end whatever might be implemented will be manageable. Not saying there won't be issues but in the end(hopefully before my end) it won't impact expats that file returns in their home country. My "opinion" is based on the system that has been in place for decades and decades throughout the world that is now looking at the means to taxing freeloaders.

Thailand to tax residents’ foreign income irrespective of remittance
Is there a document that states that Thailand is planning on additionally taxing the Individuals that pay less income taxes in there home country than they would here?

Thailand to tax residents’ foreign income irrespective of remittance
OK, that is circular but makes sense somewhat. It doesn't change my perspective though. I just want to know if anyone has any facts. I doesn't have to be an argument and I might have been an instigator- sorry. Is this thread based on fear or are there facts that I'm missing? I feel as this is more of a competition and an opportunity to label individuals. I probably should just move on and touch base on these tax threads every now and then to see if more facts are available. Peace🙂

Thailand to tax residents’ foreign income irrespective of remittance
Fare enough but it seems many are assuming the worst case scenario as a fact. For example the USA could raise income taxes by 50% to cover shortfalls but the probability is slim to none. I don't get the fear for something that has just been mentioned or thought about. I have more insane ideas than the next person but they are just passing thoughts and thankfully rarely implemented.

Where is your global income? Does your country have a tax agreement? Have you paid taxes on the income?
-
Thailand to tax residents’ foreign income irrespective of remittance
This is why leaders in the past were wise enough to form tax agreements. They aren't perfect put the intention is to eliminate double taxation. I'm not saying double taxation isn't a possibility but the odds IMO are miniscule. Just my opinion and looking for facts. My stance is not popular on this thread but I can't change my frame of mind just because other dislike it. I get it, some are really fearful and I'm not insulting them and name calling.

Thailand to tax residents’ foreign income irrespective of remittance
I'm not trying to be a dkhead. I just want some answers. I don't want to pay additional taxes on top of what I have already paid in the USA but as of yet don't sense I will and hence the lack of concern. The USA and many other countries require "retired" tax residents that aren't citizens to file. Most these individuals get little in return other than being able to use the infrastructure in such country. There are many globe trotters not paying taxes and being funded by those that do. Interesting times and a global tax is interesting but IMO not going to be a reality for many years. Do you think individuals living in Thailand that have income and don't include this income on tax returns submitted in their home country should be taxed here?
-
Thailand to tax residents’ foreign income irrespective of remittance
You think Thailand shouldn't have the "right" to require that you file a tax return as a tax resident. Seems like a hassle but very reasonable IMO. I'm also confident I will not pay any taxes here for money that was taxed prior in my country nor taxes from income in the future that are taxed outside of Thailand. Just looking for facts...

Thailand to tax residents’ foreign income irrespective of remittance
I think the world is grappling with a means of taxing individuals that aren't paying taxes and residing in countries where it is easier not to pay taxes. I seriously doubt countries are will impose a tax on money that has already been taxed "wherever". There will be exceptions but basing fears on big what ifs seems pointless and stressful. I'm just looking for some facts behind this fear and don't want to be blindsided.

a threat? OK, that is what i thought. Facts? I'm really not trying to be confrontational. I'm just trying to make my own deductions.

Thailand to tax residents’ foreign income irrespective of remittance
You seem extremely hostile and frustrated. Can you share how this new tax is going to impact you. I'm from the USA with ample saving to live here until I die. I have interest income as well as investment income ( not much and many years I have a loss 😞 ). I'll get social security in the near future as well as private pension funds and some of that money will be sent to Thailand to fund my retirement. My anxiety level is very low in regards to owing Thai taxes. I might have to file but that isn't even a definite. People are screaming but without having any real basis to be screaming. It seems they are basing their fears on "what ifs" which is pointless and will lead to nothing productive. As for categorizing people as broken down sheep - maybe a look in the mirror. You seem to losing your shttt over a nothing burger. You are obviously red hot mad but why? Maybe I'm missing some facts???? Hopefully that wasn't insulting...

Electric Vehicles in Thailand
That is a hell of a paper weight. EV manufacturers need to develop an efficient means to repair/replace batteries. This will most definitely happen but at the moment it is the reason I'll stick with ICE. The situation in its current state is almost comical. I get it - very little demand for such services but without a MUCH better battery repair/replacement solution, I will stay on the sidelines because I'm 99.9% confident that solution will be here in the next 10 years.

Fixed premiums can't work for 30 years? Are they adjusted for inflation? What you mentioned about the premium being fixed until the first claim is interesting. It rewards healthy individuals and would possibly explain their low premiums but still have my doubts. If all companies did this, it would get expensive real quick for unhealthy individuals which is not a good thing IMO. What would stop them from increasing your premium after a few claims to a point where it's unaffordable. On second thought, most countries I'm aware don't allow health Insurers to increase your premium because of a claim. Who is providing this information? I think you are having a laugh at our expense? 🙂

We are lucky to the cheap blood tests here and don't understand why more don't get one each year and self educate themselves on what the numbers represent.

What do you do with all your free time?
Believe you are wrong. He is an average dude, living an average life. He is just having fun BSing and has a good enough sense of humor IMO. "Some" of his posts are far from lacking wit and on occasion are worth further thought. I like BOb. Any others out there?
