  1. Not all professional footballers get paid vast some of money like Messi or Ronaldo - in the same way as not all professional musicians get paid as much as Taylor Swift or Kanye West (Had to Google them!) And Coventry City and Shrewsbury Town are unlikely to pay the same wages as Man United or Liverpool!
  2. I thought you might know as you seem to be defending him regardless of what he may have done/not done.
  3. Did it also say why he had been suspended/inactive posted in the first place?
  4. I was merely making an observation about your usual reactions to certain observations! Regarding your question, one poster put it rather succinctly - "Inaction". In other words not what he did, but rather what he didn't do!
  5. I think it would depend on the quality of the mask! If it was one of those cheap cotton ones, I fear that you are DOOMED! And yes, people who spit in public are despicable germ spreaders - not just Covid. Personally, I always carry a couple of tissues anyway - you never know when you might need one in some of the toilets here!
  6. I am not disputing your facts and figures, but who are you to tell me so bluntly that "I read wrong"? Your attitude is very argumentative, and I can assure you that I did not "read wrong". It may be that where I read it was not the same place as you got your information from - in fact I did not get the information from the agency that you quote. It may be that wearing a LOW QUALITY mask does not give the wearer much protection, but can prevent the wearer from spreading germs from coughs and sneezes. Yes, many "maybes", but I can assure you of one thing - I did read it somewhere, and I am not in the habit of "reading things wrong".
  7. I remember reading that wearing a mask does not really protect the wearer at all - it prevents the wearer from passing on germs if he/she is infected, and is coughing and sneezing into the mask rather than infect people close by.
  8. ".....................abide by health and safety standards." What a great way to finish a statement by TAT! Maybe they should mention that to certain Thai business owners as well!!!
  9. Thought you'd be along sooner than later! Fighting for the "underdog" as per usual!
  10. ".................because they voted for it!" In "free and fair elections" - I wonder how many Senators the PM will put into the Upper House before the next one? 300? 350?
  11. "Furthermore tourist and expats are already being overcharged at Thailands hospitals." Recently I had a minor procedure performed at a Government Hospital which took app an hour from start to finish. The cost was 17,000 baht, and 2 private hospitals that I checked with wanted 22,000 baht and 85,000 baht respectively - even Bumrungrad was cheaper at just under 20,000 baht! I didn't even check the price at the "best" hospital on the island!
  12. "This must be one of the most indecisive Governments in the world,............" Agree 100%, especially when you have a "A nut in" charge of the Health Service - "to mask or not to mask - that is the question" (for example)
  13. I don't think that prospective visitors are going to be all that concerned about 300 baht - I think they'll be more bothered about the rapidly escalating cost of flights, and the increased cost of living in many parts of the (Western) World, making holidays a lot less affordable.
  14. "...its very rare that deportation is actually carried out". In the same way as serious offences here by the BIB are punished by transfers to "inactive posts" rather than actually getting sacked, which is what they deserve in most cases? And how long are they transferred for? We never seem to hear that either! And what you say about illegal immigrants in the UK/"Nanny State" does not surprise me one little bit - just one of the reasons why I am here and not there!
  15. Maybe I should have phrased my post differently! Of course I don't expect somebody to be deported for being drunk! I was implying that if the RTP and the powers that be want to, they can find a way to deport someone for the most trivial of offences. And I was also just pointing out that he was not only drunk, but he was also being violent - in the UK it is called "drunk and disorderly", and if apprehended would probably mean a night in the cells, and a slap on the wrist and a fine in the Magistrate's Court the following morning!
  16. Where there's a will there's a way! And apparently you forgot to read that he was also being violent!
  17. An "unidentified foreign tourist" hits a farang in the face giving him a "non life threatening injury" and then walks away - big deal! Next stories - "Anutin makes a statement" followed by "rain is expected today in Bangkok"! ????
  18. Maybe we will see political meetings/protests again in advance of a "fair and democratic" election?
  19. I've never had any sour grapes in Thailand yet! But there again?
  20. ba·zaar "a market in a Middle Eastern country." bizarre "very strange or unusual, especially so as to cause interest or amusement." Warning - Grammar Police at work! ????
  21. The thought of a 20,000 baht fine for no mask as opposed to a 300/500 baht fine for no helmet may have something to do with it! ????
  22. ".......he will NOT be ditching his face mask" So where is it, then?
  23. "Globally people are suffering from huge increases in the cost of living." Your post is 100% correct, but TAT as per usual seem to be blissfully unaware of the final point made in your post, and if anything trying to attract tourists from Russia (although the invasion of Ukraine is not their fault) is not likely to sit well with the rest of the Western world, and if anything will drive people to other destinations. (Note; Even prior to Covid and the invasion of the Ukraine, there were numerous posts on here about the "rude" attitude of many Russian tourists.)
