The post had damaged the fine upstanding name of the army and the government, it was felt.
Felt by whom?

I know its coincidence but when vaccines are donated they arrive to great fanfare the next day on a jet, from America for instance.
When they are paying there own money the vaccines are "on order" and will arrive "later" or next year ????
You missed "plan to"!

"BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand will order an additional 10 million doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine,"
The question is:- "WHEN"?

"promising that the country will join the COVAX program to receive donated vaccines next year."
Here we go again, waiting for freebies rather than getting their fingers out and spending a few baht, and possibly get thevaccine this year.
And the article is a bit ambiguous - does it mean that Thailand will receive free vaccines next year, or that Thaland will join the COVAX programme next year? The latter woud not surprise me the way that things have been handled up to now!

Exactly, we're talking tourists not elderly retired expats (although chances are most of the alleged tourists arriving are likely to be just that). If you think you need to be "Richard Branson type jetsetters" for that sort of spend then I refer you to a post I made earlier.
TAT's figures are pie in the sky IMO but not due that figure.
You could obviously be one of the "quality tourists" that we hear so much about (but I suspect you are now a resident?), and move in different circles to the "average" tourist, but I would think that the "well heeled" tourist would be more inclined to choose a holiday destination where you don't have so many hoops to jump through in order to get to your destination, and the others that you have to jump through once you are here!
In short, the well off would rather be able to choose what they do, and where they go during their holiday rather than be treated like a criminal on parole, and subject to all kinds of restrictions and conditions. For instance, being "tracked" every step that they take outside their hotel is probably something they are not accustomed to - or would welcome!

I think that the strict entry requirements into Thailand made sense when we had very low infection rates. However, the Government’s mishandling of the situation allowed the Delta variant to get established. If Thailand wants foreign visitors then why not let people who are fully vaccinated entre without restriction. They are not going to have much of an impact on the overall rate of infection particularly as only small numbers are likely to come with a full blown pandemic going on and the health system under extreme stress. Just a thought.
"only small numbers are likely to come with a full blown pandemic going on and the health system under extreme stress."
Try telling that to this lot! (The staff of TAT at the boss's inauguration ceremony in 2015 - wonder who the unsuitably dressed couple/bookends are at each end - Mum and Dad?)

I want his brains.. They are new and not used.. How much more stupidity can TAT ventilate??
Life at the TAT must be like one long fairytale!
1000 tourists to Samui spending 180,000 baht each?
I think he's got his head buried and stuck in the sandbox/litter tray, but there again, whenever I see "TAT" mentioned in any announcement, I know a good laugh is coming!

I can’t see it applying to delivery drivers, and some may need to take a taxi to buy necessary items, or travel to a vaccination site.
Walking a dog isn’t necessary, so I guess that’s forbidden, unless you take your dog to the supermarket.
Walking a dog is necessary for it to perform certain bodily functions! ???? I believe it's called "house trained" where it is trained not to perform these functions in the house!

The vaccines are leaving the makers as fast as they roll off the production line. The next few months production is ordered and paid for already.
Yes, a big mistake was made in not ordering sooner, but that doesn't currently matter. The problem for now is how to get them fast, and I don't see an answer in the short term.
The only ones that seem to be readily available are the Chinese versions, but they're pretty much useless against the newer strains.
Does anyone have an answer - not a moan or a recrimination, but an actual answer?
I heard a couple of weeks ago that many private hospitals were wanting to acquire substantial stocks of vaccine(s), but the Government were putting as many hurdles in the way as they could - the reason being that as per usual, they wanted a share of the profits. And this may be a moan, or recrimination, but possibly if the Government made it easier for the private hospitals to acquire the vaccines in sufficient quantities? We all know that "Money talks", but maybe if the Government had thought/thinks more about the health of the people than the money to be made, the acquisition of vaccine stocks may be a trifle easier - get rid of some of the bureaucratic hurdles. I don't know anything about the paperwork required to import vaccines, but I do know the amount of paperwork required in order to obtain a visa extension based on Marriage, and the number of A4 photocopies required goes into 3 figures (every year) Ridiculous, and no doubt the paperwork required to import vaccines will be WAY higher!
Just a thought/suggestion as you requested!!

Here is a radical thought. Try vaccinating the people with a quality vaccine. Sinovac doesn't count as a quality vaccine.
Here's a more radical thought - let's get enough vaccines to inoculate the people!

Extrapolated at the same rate it would mean around 36,600 visits before the end of September, notes ASEAN Now.
Yet the spokesman insisted that TAT targets for 100,000 tourists would be met and they would be spending 8.9 billion baht.
So does that mean 36,600 visits before the end of September, or TAT's traditionally conservative forecast of 100,000?

There was a similar issue at saphan hin today when I went for my jab. Inside the gymnasium was a model of social distancing. Chairs set 1 meter apart, called up in batches of about 25 to start the medical process of BP checks, documents etc.
BUT, outside, while waiting to be called into the gym, awnings had been set up to give shade from the sun or shelter from the rain and under them were plastic chairs literally touching each other. Must have been a hundred people gathered together under one roof, side by side.
I raised the issue with one official and got a shrug. No one seemed to see the contradiction of having strict social distancing inside and quite the opposite outside.
other than that, the only thing that sprang to my mind was that the ppe worn by all the medical workers was totally naff. Basically the gowns were nothing more than the plastic rain coats you buy at 7-11 for 35 baht. Maybe that’s good enough protection, I’m not a medical expert, but it looked…..naff.
So maybe you should put in a tender for "Designer Label PPE"? Maybe with a cute logo of a guy on a horse with a funny looking stick?

"● 9,077 new infections
● 615 prison / prison infections"
Why single out "prison/prison infections"?
What about University/Halls of residence, Army Police Training schools/colleges etc etc?

How have IOs tried to extort money from you?
A few years ago I wanted to change my visa/extension, which still had several months to run, but was forced into acquiring a new one at a cost of 5000 baht, instead of the usual annual renewal cost of 1900 baht,

This is a sign of guilt, like someone who did not do his job properly.
You mean "Sorry, but only an eensy weensy bit"?
I wonder what the reaction would have been if the "Democratic Government" ????had said "We are withholding your salary for the next 3 months to see if your results improve"

Action which quickly gets very large numbers of people vaccinated plus more appropriate distribution of vaccines, stop the games to get commissions etc., plus much more help for families who are on the edge of survival would be impressive.
So we get a big announcement 'I won't give up my salary for 3 months';
to the enormous and frightening numbers of people who are testing positive to the Covid 19 virus every day and the folks who are really struggling to feed their kids this announcement is totally meaningless and insulting.
So we get a big announcement 'I won't give up my salary for 3 months';

Very noble gesture there by the P M .. no really ..
He's been looking at the trading records of the John Lewis Partnership in the UK! Their boss did the same thing with his annual bonus a few years ago.
3 months salary to this man is nothing more than a drop in the ocean - he declared a net worth of 128 million baht in 2014, and you can be assured that he is worth an awful lot more now - and that is a "declared" net worth!
