  1. No need for the bold print - against Forum rules, actually, but the POST is about:- "Angry Russian Tourist Forcefully Shaves Part of Pattaya Barber’s Hair" P.S. I agree with your sentiments!
  2. I tend to take people as I find them and I have yet to find a Russian that is friendly - you were lucky to find the friendly ones!
  3. I think people understood what was meant!
  4. Good post - my ex mother in law was from Estonia - she travelled from there to the UK on her own with 4 young chidren in tow in the early 40's. I didn't need to ask her what she thought of Russians! My own experience of them is similar to yours. I once held a door open for a Russian family and not one of them smiled or acknowledged the gesture - the one I assumed to be the father actually scowled at me when I sarcastically said to their backs "Thank you"!
  5. I am from the UK not as if that is relevant! You? Newbee asked the question - I gave him an answer. And the reactions are not to the haircut - it's people's reactions to how the majority of Russians behave.
  6. I think they're probably aware of that! What do you expect them to do about it - invade Thailand?
  7. It's already been explained in a previous post i.e. "They are pompous, rude, obnoxious, lie, cheat and steal." (P.S. You can add arrogant to that list!)
  8. Reminds me of a tale I heard a few years ago (In the 60's!) A young teenage lad went into the barbers shop and said he wanted his hair cut like Elvis Presley. The barber proceeded to give him a "short back and sides". Horrified, the young lad said "Elvis doesn't have his hair cut like that!" The barber replied "He does if he comes in here!"
  9. Hear, hear! The only problem is TIT!
  10. Diddums! An apology not good enough? Thai Airways reputation, which is already at an all time low will certainly not get any better with this spiteful attempt at "retribution".
  11. But he's BRITISH! There has been a distinct dearth of articles re the "Bad Boys of Europe" recently - catch up time!!!
  12. Not just foreigners that are scam artists! There are a couple of Thais (man & wife team?) in the tourist town where I live that regularly walk round with the begging bowl. Apparently he is blind and semi crippled, and "sings" along karaoke style to distorted sounds coming from a recording machine that he carries, while she holds out the begging bowl hopefully to passers by, but they even come into the doorways of bars and restaurants where quite a few people will pay just to get rid of them. You think I am showing a lack of compassion? One night a pal of mine was making his way home down one of the side sois at the end of the main street, and he came across this pair sitting in a corner gleefully counting the night's takings - he was obviously no more blind or crippled than she was, as they walked briskly off together into the night.
  13. Yay - the Brits are back with na vengeance! 😀
  14. "Aseannow" should be renamed "Pattayanow"! The headline posts nearly every day are about bad behaviour in Pattaya. These are for the most part usually concerning tourists/foreigners - at least these are the majority of incidents reported. I know it's a very difficult problem to resolve, but it makes nonsense of the Police and TAT's assurances that Pattaya is a wonderful place for anyone to visit, and their assertions that everything is being done to counteract anything "damaging to the image of Pattaya"!
  15. Maybe the fact that unlike anywhere else, a confession will automatically get a 50% (?) reduction in their sentence? But yes, I recall seeing a post from a while ago where a very prominent policemen was involved in a case including plastic bags over a suspect's head?
  16. "A SWISS man who is the second husband of a Thai woman who inherited 13 million baht from her first Swiss husband upon his death in 2021 and has been missing since Jan. 8 has now confessed to having killed her, Amarin TV said this afternoon (Jan. 29)." "The suspect had not come to witness the search as he has been mostly staying home only coming out to drink coffee or have a meal and meet the police." "Police brought the 53-year-old suspect to the cornfield on Monday, where the decomposed body of his 46-year-old Thai wife Orathai Posee-ngarm, was found lying on its back." So why has he not been arrested? Oh, sorry - from a paragraph later in the same post:- "There was devastating news from Nakhon Ratchasima on Monday as police arrested the 53-year-old Swiss husband for the murder of 46-year-old Orathai Posee-ngarm." I think maybe I'll start reading these reports from finish to start in order to get a clearer picture!
  17. ".........was found by police and rescuers near the exit of Building B of the condominium complex at Na Kluea subdistrict, Bang Lamung district, Chonburi" "at an unspecified condominium complex in the Naklua sub-district of the Banglamung district, Chonburi province" And both articles by the same poster - 13 hours ago!!!
  18. Maybe the family have given enough in the past and said "no more - get a job"!
  19. Yes, as I pointed out - why were they not sacked on the spot? Instead of which, "suspension"! (P.S. From Google - "Sus·pen·sion" Oxford Languages definition:- "the temporary prevention of something from continuing or being in force or effect.")
  20. "Reacting promptly, the school director suspended both teachers from their duties after their admission of guilt." Does suspending them mean that after a period of time they can be reinstated? What's wrong with actually SACKING them on the spot, and handing them over to the police to be charged with assault? Brutal behaviour that deserves the harshest punishment!
  21. Cutting your own "appendages" off to save yourself is still a pretty gutsy thing to do - arm, hand fingers - never mind the pedantics. But there should have been someone close by to help sooner.
  22. Any need for the "Bold , large text"? It is against Forum Rules you know!
  23. Because TIT, and law enforcement and common sense are a couple of things that seem to be in short supply here!
  24. ".........so it has nothing to do with murder." Thank you Sherlock! By the way , "The number one suicide place in London is Parks" ? According to the City of London Corporation:- "Bridges remain the most common location type for suicide attempts within the City, with 87% attempted suicides occurring on bridges." I would imagine that anybody comtemplating suicide by jumping off a bridge wouldn't think of, or be bothered with tying their hands up - what do you think ?
