  1. You don't do irony or humour, do you? And from memory, I think I said that due to the daily postings on AN, it would"seem that" 95% of the crime in Thailand is committed in Pattaya - I didn't say that it was!
  2. Ahem! It's not "eluding" it's "alluding" ( e·lude evade or escape from (a danger, enemy, or pursuer), typically in a skillful or cunning way. "he managed to elude his pursuers by escaping into an alley" And how do you know what someone else is "alluding to" anyway? Bit of a mind reader?
  3. ***WARNING*** This product can make you drunk!!!
  4. No it didn't... if you care to scroll back to the post itself, "at 4.26 a.m" was part of the OP by Webfact, and Flying Tiger was merely commenting that" Nothing ever good happens in the wee hours of morning...." He didn't mention any specific time!
  5. Well they would be wouldn't they? Doh! She was walking at 0.45 a.m. when she got on the motor bike taxi. It wasn't stated what time the incident happened, only that by the time she got to the police station to report it it was 4.26 a.m.
  6. Makes a change for something of this nature to not happen in Pattaya? Maybe the motor bike taxi driver just moved to Phuket?
  7. Also the label says "Imported" which may be a bit of a giveaway, but imported from where? If it is from France it does seem cheap! I* seem to remember paying about 1700 baht for a full bottle of Kahlua a while ago!
  8. Depends on how much it comes down surely? But I would hazard a bet, as you say, that the price will be more than it was "a few weeks ago" in spite of the tax cuts.
  9. "Seems like I always want to buy wine during those hours and a bloody nuisance cannot." WELL SAID!!!
  10. Since when are importers affected by " the adjustment of excise taxes and duties structures on local liquor ?
  11. Always! (During the daytime!)
  12. Must be quite hefty as they were talking about Import Duties and Taxes being reduced by 50% a couple of months ago, (and a couple of years ago, and......):- "Sep 21, 2564 BE — A news report by the Bangkok Post said the Customs Department is looking to cut tariffs on imported alcoholic beverages by 50% over a five year ..." However, further down the article:-" though nothing is yet official with the move, the news report mentioned."
  13. Spelling mistakes? - "alledged"? ("alleged" surely! 😀)
  14. On February 23rd, 2024, Mr. Ekniti Nitithanprapas, the Director General of the Excise Department, publicly announced the adjustment of excise taxes and duties structures on local liquor ................." Nothing mentioned about imported wines and spirits - see my post above the previous one for those! And as if to clarify the point that imports were not included:- "However, Mr. Thanakorn Kuptajitti, the adviser to the Thai Alcohol Beverage Business Association, stated that the new tax reduction would only benefit a certain group of people."
  15. ".....stated that the new tax reduction would only benefit a certain group of people." In other words - "The Big Boys". And what about the much vaunted proposed 50% cut in Import duties and Taxes on foreign wine and spirits - still under the rug I suppose? Where it will probably stay for a couple of years and they can bring it back out, wave it around for a while and then put it back again. Yeah, yeah, yeah!!!
  16. Same as "Power Bank Explosion causes Panic on AirAsia Flight" When in fact it should have read:- Cell phone power bank fire on Thai Air Asia flight extinguished quickly Reminds me of a Norwich Union ad from a few years ago "We won't make a drama out of a crisis"
  17. "In related news, a Thai man in Chachoengsao admitted to the brutal murder of his wife after her remains were found in a rubber plantation." Related news? How? AN News Team - Please explain!
  18. AN Headline:- "Power Bank Explosion Causes Panic on AirAsia Flight" I didn't know what a power bank was, and thought it was something to do with the in plane electrics. Never mind, Air Asia's explanation was a bit more informative:- "Cell phone power bank fire on Thai Air Asia flight extinguished quickly" Funny how the addition of 2 words takes the "shock/horror" out of the story!
  19. My ex wife was a Scottish schoolteacher and at one time had a "Shona Legg" in her class!
  20. "Due to the injury, she was unable to leave the waterfall and make her way to the hospital since it was situated on the mountain." So the hospital was situated on the mountain? 😀
  21. Totally agree! Regarding proactive measures - not - a few years ago a railway employee with a history of drink and drugs problems working as a steward on a train raped a young girl and killed her by throwing her off the train. So what did the railway authorities do? Ban the sale of alcohol to all passengers on trains! They should have had a vetting procedure so that the despicable low life was never employed in the first place, instead of which they punish the passengers! ???
  22. "for companionship and to hang out......." Wonderful choice of words!
  23. Absolutely ridiculous situation when you can't make a criticism of a hotel for fear of ending up on a defamation charge. What's the point of having a website such as Trip Advisor if they can only publish favourable reviews, and an unfavourable review could end up with you in jail? Pathetic!
  24. If you are referring to the above post, the Insurance Company was in the UK!
