Arrest Warrants issued for Five Russian Suspects in Kidnapping Case

"..........while people on retirement visas have to jump through hoops ." Quite agree - you want try getting a visa extension based on marriage in my Imm Office! Before the problems start with the "interview", you have to get photocopies of everything required - TWICE. In my case, almost 150 photocopies were required! -

"US$900,000 or around 30,000 baht." See it was immediately rectified but really, it shouldn't have been there in the first place! Should've gone to Specsavers. or get a new calculator! -
British Tourist Dies After Fall from Pattaya Hotel
sambum replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
"Thai balcony railings are notoriously low" - very true, and in some places so are the door "headers"! I've lost count of the number of times I've "banged my bonce"! You would think by now that builders/designers (of hotels especially) in tourist areas would have realised that the height of the average tourist is a lot more than that of the average Thai, and make adjustments accordingly? Oh, I forgot - "TIT", and bigger door frames and higher balcony railings would cost a few more baht - can't have that! 🙂 -
British Tourist Dies After Fall from Pattaya Hotel

"Ms. Waew, who witnessed the incident, said she was lying in her room but then heard someone fall......" "She heard someone fall"? What does that sound like? ".........she was lying in her room...." So how did she witness the incident? Sorry - a bit bored today - sympathies to the family of yet another "high rise statistic" in Pattaya. -
A friend of mine took a girl home from a bar a few years ago, and she started crying. When he asked her what was wrong, she said she was missing her baby, who was only a few months old and her parents were "taking care". He said she should be at home looking after her baby, not her parents, gave her some extra money, and told her to go back home. The next week he saw her back in the bar againand he asked why she had come back. Apparently, her parents had told her to come back because they needed the money she was making to look after her baby! As you say - TIT!

Thai emission laws transform: What drivers need to know

When your local council takes away ALL the "Public" refuse disposal bins because some people won't pay a monthly charge for "Private" rubbish/garbage collection it shows the mentality! -

Angry Russian Tourist Forcefully Shaves Part of Pattaya Barber’s Hair
sambum replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
I didn't say that "I never met any Russian" - I said, and I quote:- "P.S. Why do I need to know Russian, and as I don't why is that pathetic?" I don't know any German, Arabic or Chinese either - is that pathetic? I do have a sprinkling of Thai, however - enough to be polite by saying "Please" or "Thank you" - something that any Russians I have come across seem incapable of doing either by words or gestures! (I did say in a previous post that some Russians that I had "held a door open for" had been ungrateful and rude, implying that they were arrogant by their actions (or lack of) You don't need to "meet" someone to know whether they are arrogant or not - their whole demeanour and attitude to others in everyday situations says it all! -

The only part of the "post" that is mine is "arrogant" and I stand by that. P.S. Why do I need to know Russian, and as I don't why is that pathetic? -

When did I do that? I said no such thing! What I did say was that I/myself/me " tend to take people as I find them and I have yet to find a Russian that is friendly - you were lucky to find the friendly ones!" -

No - realist! What country are you from? You seem very reluctant to answer, but quite prepared to antagonise! -

Good post - my ex mother in law was from Estonia - she travelled from there to the UK on her own with 4 young chidren in tow in the early 40's. I didn't need to ask her what she thought of Russians! My own experience of them is similar to yours. I once held a door open for a Russian family and not one of them smiled or acknowledged the gesture - the one I assumed to be the father actually scowled at me when I sarcastically said to their backs "Thank you"! -

I am from the UK not as if that is relevant! You? Newbee asked the question - I gave him an answer. And the reactions are not to the haircut - it's people's reactions to how the majority of Russians behave. -

It's already been explained in a previous post i.e. "They are pompous, rude, obnoxious, lie, cheat and steal." (P.S. You can add arrogant to that list!) -

Reminds me of a tale I heard a few years ago (In the 60's!) A young teenage lad went into the barbers shop and said he wanted his hair cut like Elvis Presley. The barber proceeded to give him a "short back and sides". Horrified, the young lad said "Elvis doesn't have his hair cut like that!" The barber replied "He does if he comes in here!" -

Diddums! An apology not good enough? Thai Airways reputation, which is already at an all time low will certainly not get any better with this spiteful attempt at "retribution".
