Try looking at the polls that can't be so easily manipulated. You'll see a different story.

I carry a laminated copy with the info page on one side, and the page with my current permission to stay date on the other. Most people I know do the same. 

Edit: I've never had to use it, though, in several years of living around Asok/Thonglor. I once got asked when I happened to have my passport on me, and they only gave it a cursory glance anyway.

I think laughing at other's misfortune is often unpleasant. But 'misfortune' implies bad luck, rather than the combination of drunkenness and stupidity that induces the kind of poor decision making that has lead to the woes of many here.
