First off the bat, if what you have told us about yourself is correct, I agree with UbonJoe that a 99 year blacklist seems pretty unlikely.
Regardless, you are able to appeal to the Ministry of the Interior a blacklisting when you are married to a Thai, or are the parent of a Thai child.
I would recommend your wife/gf find a good lawyer to firstly check your actual immigration status, and to initiate an appeal if found to be necessary. Many in your situation have been sent home, but have been free to return on the next plane, and I have seen some do just that.

This subject comes round and round and never gets anywhere because they are not prepared to pay the money required to get decent staff. They always cheap out and employ those for whom English is often a second or third language. The other issue of course is one of face and paying a farang more than Thai teachers who in their minds are superior causes a problem. Those looking for teaching work need not get excited. This will go no further than the countless identical promises made over the years and the kids in ten years still won't be able to speak English to anything close to an acceptable standard.

I have moved this from general topics where it did not belong to one covering jobs, business etc, as it is the closest I could offer without closing you down.
It is not for no reason that the global transparency index rates Thailand poorly on corruption and graft, and this seems the sort of thing that has become endemic in society. Sadly, all the time people pay it, it renews the cycle.
I strongly suspect a job, if indeed she really needs the money, could be found once back in Roi Et, at a decent salary, without the outgoings and 20 year commitment, for a similar sort of money. Good Luck regardless.

I notice the story doesn't mention any casualties, so I am hoping for the best here. It seems the cops know who he is, so hopefully they will have him in custody soon before anyone gets hurt.

Yes, brilliant idea. Given we have one of the worst droughts for ages, lets throw even more water down the drain shall we?

And from another Thai Visa story: In a statement on Wednesday (February 12), the association noted that permission to dock at Laem Chabang Port had been requested on Monday. Westerdam: Cruise trade association asks for mercy
The ship also states they have no cases and have been at sea for a lengthy enough period of time for any infected to show up.
I see Anutin held a proviso, "the Thai government would need to inspect the ship and confirm it’s clean before allowing it to dock at the port.”
And I suspect at the end of the day, something like that will happen. Poor folks on the cruise must feel like lepers right now though.

Having got it wrong once already, you can't help but think the latest prediction is based to some degree at least on a wing and a prayer.

If it picked up the last passengers on Feb 1st, we are 80% through the incubation period, so if no one on board has fallen ill thus far, you would think it is looking pretty good. As they were to be taken straight to the airport and home the decision seems a little heavy, especially since it appears Thailand had agreed initially.

Sorry, but this one is not taking off. The very article you quote sums things up with: " Thailand Medical News is only able to confirm the report about the additional screening for all travellers from Thailand but regards to future travel restrictions, we are unable to confirm whether this true or just speculations or mere rumors. "
We can discuss confirmed news once it is precisely that. This is highly dubious in reliability or substantiation and could attract all manner of trolls, so its closed.

A single foreigner refused, which he took as justification to slag off every single farang here? And he won't apologise? There are many things I could say about his suitability for office and overall intelligence, but as a moderator, I shall refrain from the worst of it and simply say, unacceptable.

After yesterdays performance, I don't think there can be many foreigners who will respect anything that comes out of the health ministers mouth. I note that when being interviewed he wasn't wearing a mask, not even one of the crappy ones he was trying to force people to wear yesterday.

That is quite a statement to make. Current events are the sort of thing which are likely when the dust settles, to make people think much harder about where they are going to go, and identify potential dangers. If that does occur, Thailand may be lucky to get back half, let alone return to normal, or hit what would be a truly amazing doubling of numbers.

"anyone"? ????
My thought exactly? It is a little vague as to if foreigners can get such insurance. You would like to think that the public health need should come before deterring people from getting necessary treatment to avoid potentially nasty bills. The man makes mention that it "was no longer “a distant matter” for Thais." I suspect that any foreigner found to have caught it will get top treatment with a minimal bill, at least while the numbers of people infected are low anyway. Publicity demands they don't let people die for lack of money.

The last time I needed to purchase Tramadol for someone, the pharmacist informed me that without a prescription I was only allowed to buy a maximum of two strips of 10 at a time. She never said anything about the frequency between purchases. Maybe next time you find yourself in town visit a few places to boost your supply if your local shops are being difficult.

I disagree. Problems have been mounting for some time, with many staying away from Thailand for a number of reasons, mostly of a home grown nature. Strength of the Baht, greed, fraud, danger etc. And as most of the eggs had been put into one basket, the super storm for tourism has now arrived.

Shame he didn't throw a bag of flour over himself first. I reckon the world record for 100 metres would have been broken by several in the congregation.

One wonders how many would have panicked and run screaming into the jungle had he turned up a day or two after they thought they had cremated him?

Four year old dead - he was in the front of a car and grabbed the driver's steering wheel
in Central Thailand
Posted
That pretty much sums it up in a nutshell. Ignorance. Too stupid to understand the first thing about safety and what happens to anyone in a moving vehicle that is not restrained when it comes to an abrupt halt. The mother should be charged for causing the death, while the driver should also face charges for allowing it to happen in a vehicle he was driving. There are way too many unnecessary deaths caused here by ignorance, which is no defense under the law.
