  1. Interesting to note that Patpong, Cowboy and Nana take up a miniscule area considering the size of Bangkok.Plenty of other things to do in Bangkok if you want a change from or want to avoid the girlie bars.

Indeed. Although after reading this forum you'd be forgiven for concluding that no visitor had ever set foot in another part of the city.
When in the mood a good blow-out in one of the fleshpot areas is most welcome but when not in the mood plenty of other stimulating and fun things can be found to do. Variety is one thing Bangkok excels at.
  2. There are certified translators in the west who have professional accreditation. I have never seen any such thing in Thailand. However I understand some lawyers will guarantee the accuracy although what comeback there is I don't know.

  3. People are always in charge of their own destiny. It means planning your life.

    In your opinion.

But your statement is patently untrue and people are simply not in charge of their destiny

    Isn't there an old saying that goes something like ;

"The best laid plans of mice and men often go astray"?

Of course there are those whose lives will go according to "their! plan but whether this is good management or plain just good luck who knows, who can tell what is around the corner and what is in store for a person?

When it goes pear shaped there as it does from time to time there will be those who can weather the storm and then there will be those who are simply overwhelmed.

Let the person who has never made a mistake or taken a wrong road in his life throw the first stone or they can do what they usually do and make un-emphatic and critical posts on this thread.

    I

I agree we all make mistakes but there are many things we can do in order to control destiny. Manage risk, identify the problems or hazards one may encounter in life, unemployment, ill-health, relationship problems, financial hardship, bereavement etc etc and then plan what you do should these events occur. Learn different or complementary skills as a standby, purchase insurance for the unforeseen, ensure financial stability for a given period are just a few examples. I wasn't being "un-empathetic" or critical I was giving my point of view that it is possible to manage ones life by minimising risk and therefore controlling ones destiny.

  4. just who in their right mind would invest in pounds! after scotland succeeds and switches to euro, pound is gonna lose just how much of its value exactly? good riddance.

Your lack of knowledge is astounding !

Scotland cannot switch to the Euro. Because only countries in the European Union can use the Euro as their currency.

If Scotland becomes and independent nation and leaves the United Kingdom, then it is also leaving the EU as Scotland the new nation state will not automatically become a member of the European Community, it will have to Apply to Join in its own right.

Scotland cannot continue to use the Pound and the Pound is the currency of the United Kingdom which it is no longer part of. The taxpayers of the United Kingdom underwrite the value of the Pound, which Scotland would have just left.

Their third option, which they are not fond of is this:

Scotland issues its own currency, backed by Taxpayers in Scotland. Unfortunately for Scotland, they cannot make good on their promises made for a new Scottish future, if they have issue a currency.

In otherwords, they want to make a cake, but don't want to pay for the ingredients.

Maybe you should be informed that Scotland has it's own currency, the Scottish pound, for a looooong time already.

    You can't be serious Jesse.

If the Scottish do vote for independence, as I hope they do, then it will still be the English propping them up in subsidies for decades to come. Their shortfall in national income, even taking into account oil revenues, will mean their economy is unsustainable. The health services and welfare budget is already more than their tax revenues, add onto this the added revenue required for infrastructure, defence etc etc then financing from Edinburgh won't be possible. England can't afford to have a bankrupt country so close to its borders and will have to prop up the Scottish economy for far longer than anybody reading this forum will live.

  5. Europe isn't a country, it's made up of a number of different nations all with independent financial policies. This is the main reason the euro will never work. The UK is geographically separate from Europe but still part of the european continent and within the EC (sadly). You have to be more specific about your geography.

In a nutshell, the UK is part of the European Community and has undertaken QE. Is that clear enough?

countries which opted for the €UR cannot carry out individual and independent financial policies.

Members of the euro decide their own borrowing, interest rates, inflation targets etc etc. This is the reason the euro will never work. You are embarrassing yourself, I'd advise you to give up now.

i am giving up. it's a waste of time discussing the colours and the brushstroke of an old master's painting with a blind man.

i might have more success discussing quantum mechanics with my gardener.

You've given up on QE because of the misguided notion that it hadn't been used in Europe?

If you honestly think those borrowing interest rates are reasonable in comparison with Asian nation borrowing interest rates then you are comparing apples with oranges.

Try telling the Greeks they are getting a good deal.

  7. Many more like him in Thailand. Went after the dream, cut ties, failed business, skint - this is where the crossroads is, do I join the jumpers club or head home with nothing? Sure the UK will help him out, they help out half the dregs of Europe with housing, benefits etc. I can't say good luck to him due to his history but maybe some will see this as a lesson on how not to ruin your life.

  8. Just one of many scenario's.

You and the girlfriend decide to part and the girlfriend is sore about this. She decides to set you up by saying you've tampered with her daughter unless you pay her xxxx baht. You decline to pay. She goes to the police and they come to have a word with you. How can you deny you have slept with the daughter? You can't. You are off to the monkeyhouse to join the queue of other farangs set up in a similar way. Don't be a mug, put a stop to it.

  9. Your story stinks of bargirl Who has punters taking her away in short holidays and sending her money.

What to do is surprise her one day and do a "finger" check and sniff.

I said it already...bargirls don't make this kind of money, Yes, she's beautiful but she's not Ms Thailand. And why would she waste her time with me if I don't give her anything if she was working?

You are well on the road to becoming a casualty.

She travels to different places because some guy or a bunch of guys are sending her money to facilitate this travel. She is on the game. She is playing coy in order to snare you into the game and probably has any number of other sponsors in line along with you.

She is not making the money anywhere else.

As a matter of interest how much do you think bargirls make? They aren't all poverty-ridden put upon farmgirls, many are relatively wealthy by Thai standards. The farangs who think $1,000 a month is enough to make them stop work are living in a fantasy world. $1,000 off a dumb farang is enough to supplement the earnings, that's all.

  10. It sounds like you have never been to Thailand.

The chances are high she is not telling you the truth.

Take everything she has told you with a pinch of salt.

You don't need to ask a forum where she gets her money from, think about it.

Keep your wallet firmly fastened and in your pocket.
