  1. Judging by everything else, I'm sure the money was allocated to weapons maintenance, but where it went is anyone's guess. Those yacht's in nice places are expensive to keep up
  2. It's hard to predict, but the same folks that do these war game scenarios also predicted that Ukraine would fall in the first week of invasion. Nobody knows untill it happens. That said the west and the rest of the world has seen first hand evidence this last six months of the utter ineptitude of the russian military. It is unbelievable to think that the great russian bear that terrorized the world during the cold war can't supply it soldiers in a battle zone that is about as far from moscow to Karkov as Bangkok is to Vientiane. The russian bear has been shown to be made of paper. Their army is substandard in terms of weapons, soldiers training, supplies, maintenance and command structure. Their artillery, which is the mainstay of their ground strategy has been seen to be up to WW2 standards They are sourcing drones from Iran because they have no ability to build their own In a war with a supposedly inferior opponent they cannot establish air superiority. Their airforce is a paper one only They cannot establish a naval blockade, their ships are antiquated and ill maintained due to the massive corruption. So In light of what has happened why would anyone think that russia has maintained their nuclear force? The USA spends 60 Billion dollars per year on upkeep just for nuclear missiles. A warhead that has sat for 20 years is useless due to degradation of the fissible material. putins threats are for russian public consumption, to show he's a hard man. I'm sure the US has every launch site targeted for many months if not years
  3. I'm off this morning to get my Moderna Bivalent Booster. Supposed to be the Omicron effective one. Just released here on Sept 21 Shot number 4 for me. In Alberta Canada FWIW
  4. It really depends. For my custody, I didn't know a lawyer so my nanny/housekeeper asked around and got a local Thai lawyer in Sakon Nakon for the grand total of 10,000 baht. All he had to do was file some papers after my deposition at Family social services. Uncontested so no drama. My divorce cost me 30,000 baht. I got off cheap lawyer wise but it doesn't serve as any guideline for others. Just that it can be done without costing an arm and a leg and getting the results that are favorable to you
  5. Yes quite often after reading your posts
  6. Take a picture from the links I provided to a local welder/fab shop and they can make you something
  7. https://www.powersportsid.com/polaris-sportsman-800-powersports-snow-plows/ https://www.powersportsid.com/farm-accessories.html How to get these in Thailand is another dilemma, You would have paid a premium for that kind of ATV, the attachments aren't cheap. As a former rubber grower/owner myself why not get a small Kubota tractor and the service and implements are readily available
  8. I kicked in 10K baht when my nephews daughter died. That covered renting some tents from the village tambon, food, casket service, DJ loud speaker system. The usual funeral stuff. This wasn't the total cost at all, There was also the village fund that got donated, and private donations at the funeral but they needed money up front to get things going.
  9. I found the Thai Family Courts System to be extremely fair You'll hear all kinds of falang can't win etc, you can if you just use the system correctly. Limit your interactions with her, don't react to her anger Document everything, get a good lawyer, if your in Issan DM me for a English speaking Thai lawyer in Udon Thani. I got full Parental Powers granted to me in 2013 in Sahkon Nahkon My case is not the norm as my ex-wife was in prison for dealing ya-ba so it was a clear cut case of her incompetence as a mother. But I travelled and now am moved out of Thailand and all times my custody paperwork was scrutinized at the airport and found to be in order. Funny thing is she contested our divorce while in prison, looking for a payday, she got nothing But she did nothing about my custody proceedings. Speaks volumes about her priorities.
  10. Wow, not all BLM member are unhinged is a good start. The rest of your comments veer into "throw a bunch of <deleted> at the wall and see what sticks"
  11. And somehow you can twist a horrible tragedy into a but what about BLM
  12. Hard to feel sorry for him, he spent 13 years in Canada living mostly in Whistler B.C. before be deported back to Thailand No hardship in living in Whistler In October 2009, he was deported to Thailand after fighting the longest extradition battle in Canadian history, which lasted 13 years
  13. Nordic walking machine, kind of a cyclic back and forth with your legs and arms. Good for low impact, never liked them myself, hard to get my heart rate up
  14. Not too surprising to see a fervent trump supporter also being a Putin supporter. Any other losing tips for the folks? Slava Ukraine
  15. They are padding the bill. My house in Udon Thani, hot season in April. 2 refrigerators, 3 TV's, multiple phone chargers. 2 computers, 25,000BTU air con running downstairs during the day. 3X 18,000 BTU air cons in the bedrooms running all night. The highest electrical bill I received was a little over 6,000 baht
  16. “Since the big floods of 2011, we have got the National Water Resources Act, the Office of the National Water Resources, the National River Basin Committee and many more such bodies,” Kasetsart University lecturer Sitang Pilailar told Thai PBS World. And all of these offices and committees will reduce the water by absolutely zero. I believe the Dutch offered there services after 2011 but were turned down. You need infrastructure, not endless talk and meetings
  17. Beat me to it. Had one for years, easy to open
  18. Well, 1 day into the straw poll and it's a dead heat 50/50 split. I would have thought that the majority of people had gotten covid. Just for interest I checked the small population country of Iceland. I thought they would have good data due to the small population. They come in at 59% Iceland Coronavirus Cases: 204,717 Iceland Population (LIVE) 346,123
  19. https://www.racechip.de/ I used a chip from these guys on my old Toyota 3.0L. Made a very noticeable difference in power with no change in fuel consumption easy to install.
  20. I'll start. 3 vaccinations, 2 Pfizer in Thailand and 1 Moderna in Canada Hospital tested for airline travel Oct of 21, negative Self tested twice at home with negative results
  21. https://thai-rest.com/luggage-storage-at-bangkok-airport-prices-and-rules/ You can store luggage with this bunch, I've done it myself. As @scubascuba3 says you have to clear customs, pick up your luggage and drop it off yourself, they can't pick it up for you
  22. Congratulations, long overdue. I've read your post previously over the years and you defiantly won't quit Well done to you and your daughter. Lots of happy years ahead I hope
  23. Tell her to go to the registration shop, get the transfer of ownership paper and send it to you. You can sign this and send it back along with a signed copy of your passport. Does she have the blue book in her possession? If not mail it to her She can also ask at the registration place what she needs. They do this every day That should get the ball rolling
  24. Tell her she gets a free car if she can figure out how to transfer it. She'll get if done in record time. I gave my 9 year old truck to my housekeeper/nanny as a bonus when I left last year. When I told her she would get the truck we were at the registration shop in about 2 minutes
  25. Generally on the 7th renewal they do a brake test, check if lights are working and honk the horn, and smog test on your vehicle. Where ever you get your annual sticker done will know when it's due. It's no big deal and adds about 10 minutes to the process
