  1. And use a proper USB data cable. This is important. The Android Auto in my new 22 4 Runner wouldn't work, I was on the verge of buying a new phone and I went on a tech site and was recommended to use the original USB cord from my samsung phone. That's long gone so I bought a high end cable and then everything worked. If you use a cheap gas station cord it will charge the phone but won't work for the Android Auto.
  2. What city are you from or close to? A consulate might be a better choice I found the Ottawa Thai embassy to be slow same as you I've used the thai consulate in Edmonton before, but I see that they've closed shop Vancouver and Toronto have them though
  3. You need to talk to a good accountant in Australia who is familiar with these matters. I did the same thing that you are thinking of. A similar amount FWIW I had a Interactive Broker investing account while living in Thailand and working internationally. In 2021 I moved permanently back to Canada. In the Canadian system I was deemed to have sold my assets the day I left Thailand and repurchased them in Canada at zero cost difference. I never used a bank to transfer these assets, I would not trust a bank to give proper advice about international tax matters I had to open a new IB account with a Canadian jurisdiction and the funds were transferred about a month later after a long vetting process. No cost for this, just a transfer from my original account to my new account Now my investment account is Canadian based and I pay taxes on any Capital gains made. I could have liquidated my stocks while held in Thailand and just transferred the money without any problem. This was option B, but I wanted to maintain my stock investments. I did have to show how the money was earned, much like a get to know your customer form at a brokerage. Not to difficult, worked offshore for XX years, sold a condo in Jomtien for a good amount of profit During my time in Thailand I had changed my status to the CRA as being a non resident citizen. I had to undo that process upon returning to Canada, and integrating back into the system here. After a year it's more or less done. Do your research and ask a good accountant is the most important Understanding Australian rules is a must.
  4. Just looking on the website I see the Legender is made in Japan. I also see a lot of similarities inside with my 22 4 Runner, also made in Japan. Congrats on your new truck. I bought the 4 runner in Canada for the same reasons as a lot of people buy Toyota. I've owned 3 in Thailand and had many at work and like the reliability. Mind you, if they sold the mini Raptor in Canada I would have gone for that.
  5. @nigelforbeshas it right You need the tax paid receipt from the land office, go to the bank and tell them you want to transfer that amount out of the country. You will have to provide your receiving bank name, address, IBAN number, and SWIFT number. You'll need your passport and bank book of course. Prepare to wait, I was there about 2.5 hours I transferred 8 figures out after my condo sale. Cost of 1350baht, done by SCB
  6. I would be hoping for a end of the war by year's end. But more realistic sometime next year. Much more Western munitions and especially anti air defense systems, plus 10s of thousands of properly Trained soldiers arriving from UK. Ukraine has the momentum and the backing of the world. russia has a paranoid delusional dictator Whichever commander puppet de jour putin puts in is in a loosing positions. https://minusrus.com/en Slava Ukraine

  8. I used Pacific Life Insurance when I lived in Udon Thani. I had my son added to my policy for 20K baht per year, healthy child never had a claim, but
  9. Not true. My ex-wife was sentenced to 25 years to life plus 2 millon baht fine for 1.4kg of yaba She has been released after serving 9.5 years. Sentence reduced for good behavior, having a family sponsor sign for responsibility, having a house to return to, wearing of a an ankle bracelet and for King's pardons The good behavior is a big one as they are always trying to reduce the prison population, which has exploded due to..........drug offences. The King's pardons are not a regular thing, it's up to him and they apply a 20% reduction of your remaining time to your sentence
  10. So how did this "special operation" get started in the first place? Was is Ukraine's fault for existing? How about this, Putin thought he could roll over the entire country like he did with Crimea and nobody would mind. Well to quote a phrase, he <deleted>***ed around and found out. Number one NATO salesman of the year Vladimir Putin. And now his front lines are collapsing on a daily basis, poor vlad SLAVA UKRAINE
  11. I've had my custody paperwork checked every time I flew out of Thailand with my son. The last time in October of 21 they went as far as copying my custody documents, his birth certificate and passport. Doesn't mean it will happen to everyone, just that it can
  12. Not me, I'm retired now
  13. After construction a cleaning pig is run through the pipeline, these are run at about 30 psi of air, if it should get stuck you just depressurize and put air on the other side to push it back to it's launcher During construction on the pipelay ship a cable is pulling a sizing plate inside the pipe that's several hundred meters behind the ship, if there is a buckle as it's called the ship can then start backing up cutting off the pipes its just welded to bring up the damaged section and replace it After the construction process a caliper or sizing pig through the pipeline prior to hydro testing. This ensures that there are no dents/buckles or size deformations. The client is paying for 48" of usable pipe and that what is they get, any pipe out of tolerances is up to the construction company to remedy. After construction when the pipeline is in service an electronic or "smart" pig is run through the pipe after several years of use to check and monitor things like coating continuity and pipe wall loss. Nordstream isn't old enough to require this yet though. These don't get stuck, the pipe is of the correct size. I've been reading on various websites about how a pig could have explosives on it to damage the pipe. To do this you have to have a flow of gas through the pipe, Nordstream wasn't in use so no gas flow and no way to move a pig
  14. The bigger car dealers will have bank account with all the major branches. My last truck, Got notification my truck was in. Go to the dealer tell them I deal with SCB bank, get there SCB bank account number Go to bank, transfer the amount of the truck from my account to the car dealers account. Return to the dealer with the transfer slip, they check there account Get keys to new truck.
  15. Safe to assume sabotage, But the kicker is who? Lots of finger pointing going on now. I worked on NordSteam 2 before it got sanctioned, the pipe is 48" diameter with wall thickness of 25mm and 4-6 inches of concrete coating. Even when doing controlled burst testing on land it takes quite a charge to set up a catastrophic failure So now you've got several hundred kms of pipeline that is equalizing to ambient pressure and will fill with seawater. How to wreck several billion dollars worth of infrastructure.
  16. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bucha_massacre https://www.state.gov/war-crimes-by-russias-forces-in-ukraine/ How anyone can make your claim above is beyond belief. None so blind as those who will not see indeed
  17. Thought I was well travelled around my country, never heard of King Edward Island
  18. He spent 13 years in Canada fighting deportation while living in Whistler B.C. A very nice, very high end ski resort
  19. Being up to date on vaccinations is a condition of my employment
  20. Judging by everything else, I'm sure the money was allocated to weapons maintenance, but where it went is anyone's guess. Those yacht's in nice places are expensive to keep up
  21. It's hard to predict, but the same folks that do these war game scenarios also predicted that Ukraine would fall in the first week of invasion. Nobody knows untill it happens. That said the west and the rest of the world has seen first hand evidence this last six months of the utter ineptitude of the russian military. It is unbelievable to think that the great russian bear that terrorized the world during the cold war can't supply it soldiers in a battle zone that is about as far from moscow to Karkov as Bangkok is to Vientiane. The russian bear has been shown to be made of paper. Their army is substandard in terms of weapons, soldiers training, supplies, maintenance and command structure. Their artillery, which is the mainstay of their ground strategy has been seen to be up to WW2 standards They are sourcing drones from Iran because they have no ability to build their own In a war with a supposedly inferior opponent they cannot establish air superiority. Their airforce is a paper one only They cannot establish a naval blockade, their ships are antiquated and ill maintained due to the massive corruption. So In light of what has happened why would anyone think that russia has maintained their nuclear force? The USA spends 60 Billion dollars per year on upkeep just for nuclear missiles. A warhead that has sat for 20 years is useless due to degradation of the fissible material. putins threats are for russian public consumption, to show he's a hard man. I'm sure the US has every launch site targeted for many months if not years
  22. I'm off this morning to get my Moderna Bivalent Booster. Supposed to be the Omicron effective one. Just released here on Sept 21 Shot number 4 for me. In Alberta Canada FWIW
  23. It really depends. For my custody, I didn't know a lawyer so my nanny/housekeeper asked around and got a local Thai lawyer in Sakon Nakon for the grand total of 10,000 baht. All he had to do was file some papers after my deposition at Family social services. Uncontested so no drama. My divorce cost me 30,000 baht. I got off cheap lawyer wise but it doesn't serve as any guideline for others. Just that it can be done without costing an arm and a leg and getting the results that are favorable to you
  24. Yes quite often after reading your posts
  25. Take a picture from the links I provided to a local welder/fab shop and they can make you something
