  1. That's a trait throughout Thailand. I purchased a DeWalt planer and knowing it was going to be put to a lot of use, I requested a spare blade. We don't sell spare blades, came the reply. It's simple, when the blade is knackered, you just buy another planer 🤪
  2. I appear to be the only one that knows the difference between DIY tools v Professional tradesmen tools. You were the one being sarcastic, commenting in reply to my post, as if I was some dumb old Beverley Hillbilly, that didn't know the difference between a circular saw, table saw and a grinder. 🙄 I thought you bought a kit, such inconsistencies. "You can fool all the people some of the time and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all of the time,"
  3. I prefer professional tools and not the DIY type you posted. You obviously don't know the difference. I've used Bosch, DeWalt, Makita, none of which proved up to the job or were reliable. Once I discovered Hitachi professional tools, I never looked back. Another generic link to a tool site, but not a direct link to the products you posted. This is an example of what I mean by Professional tools, and it's a Bosch. That's equivalent to 32,000 BHT, probably more than the whole kit you posted.
  4. I assumed that to be the case, Jack, as he mentioned leaving without a 're-entry' permit. If he had a valid 0-A visa, which is multi entry, mentioning a 're-entry' permit would be a moot point.
  5. This is one of those questions when it's important to understand the difference between a 'visa' and a 'permit of stay', commonly referred to as an extension. You may have entered Thailand on a valid Non Imm O-A visa and have since been extending your 'permission of stay'. Your O-A visa expired on the 'enter before date. So yes, the answer to your question is if you have a 1-year extension of permission to stay (as I suspect) from your local Immigration office in Thailand, then if you leave Thailand without a re-entry permit that will immediately cancel your permission of stay. You can then re-enter VE (visa exempt) and immediately apply for the conversion to Non Imm (O) at Immigration. VE-TV to Non O Retirement.pdf That will grant you a stay of a further 90 days, then within the last 30 days of that 90 days, once again apply to extend your stay for 1 year based on retirement. You will also rid yourself of the requirement for the compulsory 3M BHT Health Insurance for any future extensions, following that procedure. If you actually had a valid Non Imm O-A visa, the answer would be totally different.
  6. Not from Thailand you didn't! From the webpage you posted the image, the price alone tells me that it is a DIY kit, not professional industrial tools. 'Botch' Tools.
  7. I suggest you contact your Embassy for advice. https://ambbangkok.esteri.it/it/chi-siamo/contatti/
  8. Jeez, 40 years in the trade with a garage full of 'Industrial' tools, and you've just enlightened me. 🙄 The point I was making is if you're going to be cutting, timber, steel, or brick/blocks outside the home a circular saw may be more versatile. If you're going to be doing jobs in and around the home, then an angle grinder will be more beneficial. In Thailand, I've found industrial quality tools hard to come by, all what I would rate as DIY stuff. Battery powered tools simply lack power or longevity here. I went through two 12v battery combi drills within 12 months, which were simply not up to the task. I then brought my Hitachi 18V 3A combi drill from the UK along with my Hitachi 18V 4A SDS drill, and after 10 years and being battered they're still going strong. Personally, after years of using various manufacturers power tools, I wouldn't purchase anything other than Hitachi, although Panasonic are also up there.
  9. After spending two years renovating an old rural village home, I ask yourself one simple question; Are you likely to be taking the material to the tool to cut, or the tool to the material to cut, in future? You then have the answer.
  10. No, a long overstay could land you in detention, an expired passport isn't an offence.
  11. His visa expired years ago, as did mine and probably yours, but let's not get off-topic. Not all Embassies issue passports, they outsource to the VFS. His Embassy is there to give him advice in just such situations, that would be my first port of call.
  12. Hi, I've just tried to report a post, only because it's quoting a derogatory post that has presumably been deleted by the mods, but get an onscreen message "The page you are trying to access is not available for your account" ??? Next step, I try to send a PM to the moderator of that forum and receive the message 'The moderator cannot receive messages'. How then are you supposed to report anything?
  13. OP, I recommend calling your Embassy for some advice on the matter. Theoretically, you can return to your home Country on an expired Passport if it's a direct flight, in which case, if not, an emergency travel document may be simpler to obtain. Your overstay will be none of their concern. Sorry for your loss.
  14. It may be unjust and unfair, but does it make it illegal?
  15. Friend regularly visits Europe with his Thai spouse. Always uses Kasikorn bank travel Insurance.
  16. I'm sure as you previously mentioned, it's a political move in response to the fees for Thais to visit NZ. Actions speak louder than words.
  17. Theoretically that is correct, however the new regulation specifically includes those with valid multi entry visa are also excluded from filing a new TM30 on re-entry. 1. Repeal the regulation of Royal Thai Police on notification of a householder, owner or possessor of a dwelling place or hotel manager, who takes in, as a resident, an alien permitted to temporary stay in the Kingdom dated May 25, 1979 (B.E. 2522); 2. Notification of a householder, owner or possessor of dwelling place or hotel manager, who takes in, as a resident, an alien permitted to temporary stay in the Kingdom must proceed as follows; 2.1 Notify a competent official at an Immigration office located in a locality in which the house, dwelling place or hotel is located within twenty four hours from the time an alien has taken residence. In case that house, dwelling place or hotel, where an alien has stayed, is located in Bangkok Metropolis locality, such notification shall be made to a competent official at Immigration Division 1 of Immigration Bureau. 2.2 After a householder, owner or possessor of dwelling place or hotel manager already made a notification according to 2.1, then the alien goes to occasionally stay somewhere else and return to stay at the original place within the notified period of stay tahat has not yet ended, such householder, owner or possessor of dwelling place or hotel manager is not required to make a notification again. The alien mentioned in paragraph 1 shall include any alien receiving a multiply entry visa who departs the Kingdom and returns within the validity of visa and any alien permitted to re-enter into the Kingdom with a valid re-entry permit. How long does it take to cross a border and re-enter again ................ an hour? So technically with a valid ME visa, your permission of stay could cease and start again on the same day. That is how it was probably viewed in the new regulations.
  18. New Zealanders can still enter Thailand without a visa for 30 days, which can be extended a further 30 days. 60 if you have a Thai spouse/family.
  19. Retirement Visa 🙄 Agreed. Extension issued June. July, Aug, Sept, maintained the 800k. Didn't dip below the 800K until October, which is permitted.
  20. Provided you maintained a balance of 800K for 3 months after the extension was granted (a permit, not a visa), it isn't an issue. You can withdraw up to 400K after that 3-month period as long as the minium balance remains at 400K. From the dates you specify, you're OK. Suggest you deposit that 800K into a Fixed Term account, better interest rate, no debit card, can only be accessed in branch.
  21. It's not just the TV that has inflated application fees. I just did a comparison with the Thai Embassy London fees against the listed NZ fees. London. TV £30 = 1383 BHT Non O SE £60 = 2767 BHT NZ. TV $300 = 6602 BHT Non O SE $800 = 17607 BHT. The NZ fees make no sense in comparison to other Thai Embassy fees. I'm sure they've been informed or questioned on the fees? For everything else there's Mastercard Visa exempt.
  22. Your Non Imm O visa expired a long time ago. That granted you permission of stay for 90 days, and it is that permission of stay you have been extending. @DrJack54 gave you the correct advice. Your current permission of stay expires on June 6th. You will require a single re-entry permit (1,000 BHT) to protect your current permission of stay until June 6th. Provided you return to Thailand before that date, on arrival you'll be stamped in again until that same date. You then have from May 27th (your intended date of return) to June 6th to submit your application for a further 1 year extension of stay. If you're organised, you can prepare all document copies in advance before departing Thailand, leaving only the KR2 and bank letter/statement required on your return. If, for any reason, your return is delayed, your current permission of stay will expire on June 6th. You would then have to start the procedure again, as you previously did once before by either applying for a new Non Imm O visa from the Thai Embassy in London based on Thai spouse to re-enter and be granted a stay of 90 days, which you then apply to extend for a further 365 days, or return VE (visa exempt) and then immediately submit an application at your local Immigration office to change your status to Non Immigrant and receive a stamp granting a stay of 90 days, which you then apply to extend again for 365 days.
  23. You've just made my point. To be clear, I'm talking about International flights into Thailand and if for chance refused entry, if that 'budget' outbound ticket wasn't departing from the same airport as where you landed, and by your own admission is 'lost' if not used, then you've wasted money and time because you'd now have to buy an alternative outbound ticket, or return to whence you first departed.
  24. The result of an incompetent official, as I previously suggested. Nothing new, the advice is always to check the stamps before walking away. I've had to correct an official on a 90-day report date when doing it in person. A couple of years ago, my extension due July but I always submit June, the IO informed me I had overstayed 1 month. Not until he checked his phone calendar did he believe me that the month of July came after June and not before. 🙄
