Some Thai friends of mine were complaining about exactly the same thing this morning. It seems Rimping has joined the govt scheme ! Not smart they should have them go through certain tills !! Rimping has a pretty loyal customer base, they would be stupid to <deleted> them off just for the govt freebie promotion.

My point exactly, Sally! The most regular customers are the ones being inconvenienced by a bunch of people many of whom probably dont shop regularly at Rimping. If you ve experienced the delays ( ignore the usual keyboard know it alls) it really is very irritating. Special paypoints for these people is the obvious answer but they havent thought about that.

    Shocking.

Put your shopping on the ground and walk out.

I did on one occasion when there were not one, not two, but three of these transactions in front of me. Two I tolerated patiently, but when the third started I gave up in frustration!

  3. I live at Mae Hia area, close to Canal Road and now we re suffering from an ever increasing number of power cuts. Many more than when I arrived here about twelve years ago. Then we got the kind of expected power cuts when there was a big storm, but now we get them on average two or three times a week, and at all hours of the day, sometimes only for 30 minutes or so, but more often lasting for between two to four hours at a time.

Does anybody have any idea whats going on and why? Can the infrastructure no longer cope as the city continues to grow, or is there some other explanation? Big road building project on the Canal Road ( Samoeng junction) but cant see why that should be causing all these power problems?

Wow - that is cheap.  I pay close to 75,000 at the age of 61 with Cigna.

Insurance rate table I was given shows 100K - 150K premiums for those over 70 (attached)

    Health Insurance comparison 06-09-2019.pdf 77.17 kB · 7 downloads

For the record, I dont even have the highest AETNA policy ( Platinum?). I only have the third tier policy, "Ruby" which gives partial coverage ( 400,000 + 40,000 accident)

  5. I just turned 70 last year an have had BUPA ( now AETNA) sine I was 59. Just had my first renewal since turning 70, and although I was expecting an increase...WOW! 50% inrease! Last year paid 37,000 baht, this years renewal 53,000 !!

Anyone with experience, is that the normal level of increase?

Looking forward to the matches.  Will they be on TV in Thailand? If so, how can I watch?

A few weeks ago Truevisions were contacted by someone on here and told that True "will be showing, wait for announcement".  Starts Friday, no announcement, no sign of any channel covering it, so the person contacted must have been lying, guessing, or had no idea. Take your choice!

Ah, obfuscation covering a sweeping generalisation from a TV troll.

Go away and find something useful to do with your time.

You ve posted quite a few more than me Shoeless One, so guess that makes you more of a troll than me. Also you clearly lack a sense of humour as its perfecctly obvious I was making a joke all along !!!

You can keep your World Cup champ.

We've won enough of those already.

    Speaking of your manboy captain.

Only averaged 32 for the series.

Has captained 10 Ashes tests for 2 wins.

The 2 best players in your side are a New Zealander and a West Indian.

We'll go home with the Ashes.

    See you in 4 years:biggrin:

Kerboom! Right on cue! All my best buddies are Aussies and I know exactly how to do the wind up, as do they to me! Player of the series? Ben Stokes. Bowler of the series? Stuart Broad. Cheat of the series? Weird little Stevie. Plonker of the series? Tim Paine ( in the ass!). The End!!

  10. Haha Australia, "targetted The Ashes" this season. Won nothing. England won The World Cup and drew the Ashes series but would have won the series 3-2 had the weather not intervened at Lords with Australia 6 down chasing over 300.

Australia a one man team, the rest <deleted>. "Retained The Ashes" I suppose someone will say, but a draws a draw and we have the World Cup, Australia has nothing ( apart from the usual nasty foul mouthed sledging of course) and Captain Paines hilarious incompetence using the DRS. 32 appeals made under DRS, 6 successful! What a plonker!

Simple fact of the matter is, the fact that you haven't been charged intermediary fees doesn't mean that others haven't. The fact that others have means that it's not 100% correct that HSBC have only ever charged £4 up to now. If you can't be bothered to check the facts or choose to ignore them, matter for you.

Quite correct. Sadly we have one of the usual "know it alls" here. The whole point of this thread is that UNTIL THIS MONTH I too was only charged £4 and no further charges at all from the UK end. My latest transfer was on 1st August and suddenly a further £35 has gone....I have asked HSBC WHY they suddenly need an "intermediary bank" but no reply of course. Still waiting. Will post reply if/ when received.

  12. Yesterday on 1st August I made my monthly remittance transfer as required for my Retirement Visa in excess of 65,000 baht. The charge for this transaction is £4, plus you pay a small fee at the Bangkok Bank end ( 200 baht) for receiving the funds.

To my great surprise, this morning, the amount received in baht was down by over 1000 baht. ( It arrives in pounds and converts here). On checking with Bangkok Bank, in fact, the amount transferred to Thailand was not the £1900 I authorised, but in fact was £1865, meaning that I have in fact been charged a total of £39,  the £4 fee plus a "mystery" extra fee of £35.

Obviously I have raised an email query already from my account, but am wondering, has anyone else come across this problem reccently with HSBC that can shed any light?

  13. Truevision the ONLY one that guarantees pretty much unbroken service.

EVERYTHING else is streaming and therefore relies on your internet speed. FACT.

Everyone I know who says that True is expensive, crap etc etc etc is also always moaning about buffering, freezing, programmes interrupted etc etc.

In this case 2 plus 2 does in fact equal 4! You get what you pay for! Go for the cheap option, it saves you money, yes, but it also gives you crap service a lot of the time! Anyone who says that its perfect is lying through their teeth. FACT!
