  1. No mention of the event at Bali Hai Pier here in the Pattaya forum.... no one went then ??...

There was some very good acrobatic performers on the first day 24th ( didn't take me camera )

25th was quite poor, much like the first day but without the good acrobatics.

26th was good lots of people turned up to watch the dragon shows.

    27th Joey Boy was good.

There where plenty of food and drink venders for refreshment.

Best of all it was free !!!

    ...so a few pictures

  2. Where abouts were they taken?

They where taken opposite Mcdonalds Walking street end of beach road.

the police had started closing beach road from 4pm...judging from Jimmyd's photos the parade must have got stuck

for a while trying to get out of Central as his where taken in daylight...dark by the time they reached Walking street.

    :o

  3. There is nothing in the article pertaining to issue of people owning their personal residences/land through a Thai corporation. The vast majority of these people are retirees and do not use the "dummy" Thai corporation route in onder to legally reside in Thailand. (They have retirement or marriage visa extensions.)

The whole point of the article is that they will be checking for bogus companies....

many people have gone via "the company" route to own land and houses in Thailand

most of them would in fact be bogus : ie not really doing any trading..

how will those people now stay in Thailand if they don't have a visa ? what will happen to those bogus companies ?

I was of the impression they were already enforcing this

Yes Monty but in the article it says " Pattaya immigration is now requiring compliance with the new visa regulations and is visiting every place of business to make sure the business is operating "

I read that ( maybe wrongly ) to mean that they will be making special visits just to keep the business on its toes.

  4. An article in Pattaya times ( Jan 1-15 2009 ) suggests that the new Pattaya immigration superintendent Anonnat Kamolrat

has said, officers will be visiting every place of busness ( in Pattaya ? ) to make sure that they are opperating

    within the law...

"when our inspectors go to the registered business address they find Thai relatives of the guys girlfriend instead of employess" :D

Might be bad news for those who "own" thier land by the company route :o

  5. There was definatley something going on, because the owner of the Cafe at front of our place asked me this morning if I knew what all the fire engines and ambulances where rushing to at 3am this morning..I was asleep and didn't hear them.

off course all the online news sites are on holiday so nothing on them. :o

  6. Went to Bali Hai Pier .. had 2 bottles of Leo,was dissapointed with the fireworks

(at Bali Hai they had a better show on 25-30th)

got stuck in horrendous traffic jam of poeple and moterbikes trying to leave the area.

    Happy New year :o

  7. Did this have anything to do with a factory worker protest which closed the Bang Na expressway?

Yes it was on Thai news last night at 5pm the Chonburi governer went down to talk to the factory workers and assured the news crew that it would be resolved by 5.30pm :o
