  1. You can go see this "lighthouse" at any time day or night, there is no lighthouse keeper or entrance fee...Its not a real lighthouse just something the local government thought would make the place look picturesque ( I suppose ) :o

  2. My one and only pair of shoes are:....

A pair of DR. Martins shoes.

    Pro's.

Great for the uneven pavements ( no stubbed toes )

Nice and comfortable, almost as good as trainers ( but no horrible smell )

    Good for moterbike riding

Look nice when polished up ( for special occasions :D )

    Cons.

Not so easy to slip on and off when visting Thai style.

    Or

    Flip flops for the beach.

Barefoot at home and when asleep :o

  3. http://www.bangkokselfstorage.com/papersbangkokpost.htm

Darrel Lintott, Bangkok Self Storage's facility manager, said that since the the launch at the end of January, around 30% of the 169 available units have been rented. Sizes range from a tiny 1.5-square-metre cell all the way up to 18 square metres, with rents from 2,200 to 9,000 baht a month respectively _ payment at the start of the month _ plus a deposit equivalent to a one-month rental. The minimum rental period is a month

    11. Is there a certain storage period?

You are welcome to stay for as long as you need storage. However we do require our customers to store for a minimum of 4 weeks.

  4. I would venture to say that almost all Thai cities of any reasonable size now have affordable Internet service

you would only really have trouble " out in the sticks "

However you should be aware that the reliability and international speed can be quite bad.

Easy setup ? well not so easy but not impossible..might take 2-3 weeks.

If you must have internet at all times then have a backup connection ( maybe a dial up )

or CDMA or EDGE ( wireless ) but coverage on those are quite limited.

  5. Depends if you want TT&T or a TOT line.

TT&T normally are quicker to set up and have more lines available ( though someone recently said on here that he got a TOT line in 2 weeks )

TT&T 2-3 weeks... TOT longer ? with both it will depend if they have lines free in your area.

Price about 3,000 baht extra fee to run a cable from the box outside to where ever you want the phone.

If you want internet apply for it at the same time you apply for the line, should then in thoery arrive together :o

  6. A poem from ( some one who's name I can't remember )

posted long ago in the Soc.Culture.Thai newsgroup

As I sat in a Bangkok barbers,

I felt my todger grow harder

The girl with the comb offered to blow on my bone

and let me sail my ship in her harbour.

    :o:D

  7. There should be no problem to get IPcop working with an ethernet modem/router..AFAIK they will all work. It would be better to put the router into bridging mode so as to avoid a double NAT situation ( although double NAT works ok for most thngs )

The D-Link DSL210 USB modem ( Conexant chipset ) works perfectly fine for me here in Thailand ( Supplied by TT&T but I've seen it for sale in Tukcom Pattaya) ..and the Speedtouch USB " Green Frog" supplied by BT is still working fine on an IPcop I setup in England about 4 years ago.

  8. IPcop

    http://www.ipcop.org/

With the layer 7 blocker addon from here

    http://mh-lantech.css-hamburg.de/ipcop/download.php?view.151

    or P2P blocker

    http://mh-lantech.css-hamburg.de/ipcop/download.php?view.160

All free, you just need to supply your own low(ish ) spec pentium II or III PC

download and set it all up ( admitedly not so easy but Kerio isn't easy either IMHO )

But you'll have an industrial strength firewall for very little outlay.

  9. what's the consensus on these two providers?

They are both about the same ( pretty bad )

I would go for the TOT cybergold package ( if you can get a TOT line ) 1000 baht per month

    Speed 1024/256 kbps

But TT&T lines are easier and faster to get installed so you may have to settle for that I'm using thier Maxnet4home package and its Ok to poor.

Loxinfo expensive and belongs ( if I remember correctly ) to that bloke that didn't pay his taxes

    who now acts as PM.

Normaly the ADSL is enabled on your exisiting telephone line..you can use voice and data at the same time.

TOT also have a SDSL service that runs on a dedicated line ( no voice service )

    http://www.adslthailand.com/ for some more info.
