So all those who refuse to pay come across as having no respect for the bride or her family in the eyes of any Thai.

What if the bride to be has been married before ??? what if she allready has children from another marriage ?? is it still expected that a dowry will be paid ??

Try taking the card to your local camera shop or photo print shop and ask them to try formating it in a different brand of camera not Fuji.

You could also buy a card reader, many of them come with a utility to format the card.

I have had this happen a few times but the card has never been unrecoverable.

It's seems mainly to be caused by pulling the card out while the camera is on or pulling the USB cable out without shutting the camera down first.

My girlfriend, is applying for visa in a few days, Tourist visa.

She has no regular income (apart from me) as i told her to pack her job in (shop) and go home.

She owns no land and no kids , basically no ties to thailand apart from family.

Is this really going to go against me on getiing the visa for her?

have kept all the usual stuff, records of relationship, photos, bills, etc......

What software are you using to access the news server.

If it's a subscription news server is the some problem with your payments ?

Have you checked that your firewall is allowing connections to the NNTP port typically port 119 ?

Where abouts in Thailand are you ?

What ISP are you using ?

If you provide this info then maybe someone can help.

Have you checked in tools-- internet --options-- general--- fonts that there is a Thai font associated with the the Thai language ?

You should be able to let your wife type directly into the compose window (on Yahoo web mail ) in Thai without all that fuffing about writing in word first. If a true type font doesn't work then try a proportional font instead.
