Thaksin came to power under the 1997 " peoples constitution"
QuoteThe 1997 constitution was widely hailed as a landmark in democratic political reform. Promulgated on 11 October 1997, it was the first constitution to be drafted by an elected assembly

Thanks for the first hand information tahaan.
I still find it hard to believe they make UK riders pass a very strict test
but someone with a rather easy to pass Thai license can drive any size bike no problem !
Kwasaki was pointing out that the first ( 2 year ) Thai licence says "temporary" I think that can be compared to a provisional UK licence.

In Europe, not only do you have to be registered in a particular province but also you have to be registered at a specific polling station!.... So we can put away the tinfoil!
DO they also require thumb prints on ballot papers in Europe ?

And once you have your license you can return to England and ride any size bike you like for a year. With insurance of course.
Are you 100% sure about that ?? seems to make a mockery of the rather hard to pass UK bike tests.

Thanks for that waldroj I had seen that thread but mistakenly assumed it related to overseas Thais.
I think the 1% shows that not many people knew/know about this option.

Maybe they "double NATed" you.... I read on here that you can phone them and ask to be put back onto a "normal"
IP address.
Could be something messed up with your cable modem..if you have your login details try factory reset the modem
then re enter the login details.
3rd option call them and get them to send the "engineer" to fix it.

General Prem has a permanent residence in Nakhon Ratchasima but he exercised his right to vote outside his constituency by voting in Dusit district.
Hmmmmm everyone else has to go back to their "home" provinces to vote ??

Well, for some reason every person must put their fingerprint on the top of the voting form
the reason is
http://www.khaosodenglish.com/politics/2016/08/02/z-sundays-referendum-vote/
QuoteFor possibly the first time, voters will be required to affix a fingerprint to the top of their ballot, above their vote.
This is not to intimidate voters by linking their identity to their vote, Wanchai said, but was intended as a marketing maneuver. The commission hopes people will take selfies with their inked fingers, he said, and share them on social media, thus encouraging others to come out and vote.

Can anyone help with what I can buy to do the trick???
Yes you can buy your own internet connection so that you aren't sharing a "free" WIFI signal with all the others.
No amount of boosting WIFI signal will help the TV box because the problem is you are sharing a limited "pipe" with everyone else if you get your own "pipe" ( internet conection ) then you'll have much more success.

The final result will be announced 3 days after the vote.

Found the answer as to the fingerprint

In another report I read its illegal to take photos in the polling station or of the ballot paper..hope they tell all those sefie takers to only do it well away from the ballot box !!!

So you're in Bangkok now and changing names..did they require a certificate of residence ?
or did you use the work permit or yellow book method.
If they let you change the name there is no requirement for you to change number plates you can keep BKK plates
pay tax and insurance in any province.

Don't they add some stuff to the fuel to try and prevent the corrosion ??
if 20 % ethanol destroys aluminium I think there will be lots of problems and angry drivers !
with melted carbos, pistons and engine blocks

You might consider getting married before the child is born so that your name can go on the birth certificate..which will give you and your child better options later on.
