Thailand tipped to be removed from UK’s ‘red list’

Independent news sources have already cited the main reasons for Thailand being red ; Insufficient levels of testing , low levels of genomic sequencing and a lack of data provided. So in short , what the man said ! -

Yep , remaining on the red list would be certainly be an indicator. -

Frankly I see more honesty on this forum than coming out of Anutin's gobhole ! -

I reckon that unless Thailand ramps up its testing , its case numbers will still be considered suspect. -

Minimal data provided ( lack of testing ) and a low level of genomic sequencing. Seems the boffins are somewhat dubious of Thailand's claim that ' everything is under control '. -
CCSA Maintains Curfew, Dark Red Zone Provinces

Probably from a country that does NOT announce strict lockdowns until the end of September , and predicts a rush of international tourists from October 1st. Is that the type of joined up government thinking you applaud ? -
Seriously , is that all you have got ? Utterly pathetic ?

Eastbourne surely .

4 of the above are functioning democracies , if the leadership is toxic it can easily be removed in a free and fair election. As for the 5th......

Thailand to launch ‘Digital Health Pass’ for domestic flights

Vacinated = 2 shots ( or you are ,or know, somebody influential ) 1 shot = small brown envelope Zero shots = large jiffy bag. -
Which might just indicate that the virus is far more widespread than the government acknowledges. That would hardly be surprising given the meagre level of testing and the pathetic vaccine response. The point is actually moot anyway because what is relevant is ; A) How many of your vaccinated colleagues have been seriously ill , hospitalised or died ? B) How much more serious would the situation be if nobody in your workplace was suitably vaccinated ?
-
I suggest you let the following sink in ; Fully vaccinated persons are far less likely to get or spread the virus and are far , far less likely to be hospitalised or die as a consequence of catching the virus. Apart from a small minority who have genuine medical reasons for avoiding vaccination, refusal to conform is base stupidity. Those who spread disinformation about vaccines are , in my view , criminaly negligent and should face prosecution.
-
Im afraid your comparison is severely flawed. The UK is testing 10x the number of people that Thailand is , so the percentage of positives is in fact much lower. In addition a vaccinated population will generally generate less severe infections , leading to less hospitalisation , death and pressure on health resources.
-
I have not heard any Scientific expert talk in terms of eliminating infections , it is nigh on impossible. What a high rate of vaccination does , and that has always been the goal , is to lessen the severity of infection. Consequently hospitalisations and deaths fall , the pressure on health resources slacken and restrictions can be largely lifted. At that point infections are in effect manageable .
-
If one reads the article it is actually the government being blamed. Lowering restrictions will lead to a spike in infections , yes , but in heavily vaccinated countries the consequencies are manageable. In Thailand more infections mean deaths and unbearable further pressure on health resources and the economy. There is no comparison between nations with 70-80% of their citizens vaccinated and one with barely 10%.

That is their mentality certainly but eventually they will face reality; More restrictions = less visitors. -

You may be right , difficult to know how the current regime will swing. However in the real world , governments are learning to live with Covid , and if 70-80% of ones citizens are suitably vaccinated ,then infections are far less troublesome. The fact is that Thailand's economy cannot continue to take a huge hit indefinitely , and tourism is a major component of their GDP. Visitors will not return in adequate numbers unless the current restrictions are lifted , so quarantine will go eventually. As a betting man I would wager my ' around May ' is a far better guess than your ' never '.
