Its possible but escalation to the degree you suggest is extremely unlikely. Despite Putin's public bravado he is well aware that Russia is now hugely reliant on China , Beijing would be very hostile to any suggestion of the use of nukes. Of course Putin may become so delusional that reason desserts him completely . However there would still be calm minds in the Kremlin , an early retirement would be arranged methinks.

There are airport taxes in the UK but no specific tourist taxes. Indeed a zero rate of VAT for tourists has just been reintroduced. The basic principle of encouraging investment ( eg tourists) is enticement , NO level of additional taxation is enticing. -

As for the part attacking her majesties funeral , and the British royal family in general, the irony does not escape me. I would have thought after 40 years residence in Bangkok , you would be more aware of the scope of Thailands Les Majestes law.

Very few people in the world make decisions based on single issues , its rarely a zero sum game. You for example apparently seemed happy to do business with Russia whilst it was slaughtering Afghans , Chechens and Syrians ( amongst others). No doubt you had reasons to do so.

The war has global implications , Thailand is not exempt from the consequencies. Thailand likes to sit on the fence and play both sides , might not end well for them this time around.
