Really Ahbisit has nothing constructive to say and rarely has, he should shuffle of gracefully in to the night.
Its risible for him to bemoan populist policies damaging the economy when he and his party handed out 2000 baht (cost 18 billion in total) cash payments during his gerrymandered tenure.
I fail to see how this failed politician has any relevance in the current climate....
You didn't actually read what he said, did you? What is not constructive about it?
He must have had his red goggles on when he read it

Cleaner street food needed to draw tourists
There is no such thing as clean street food, it is prepared and cooked in a uncontrolled environment, with many variables involved, road dust, vehicle exhausts, stray animals hanging around.
So no one can guarantee cleaner street food unless it is removed from the street.
Visit Singapore and the hawkers food stalls. It may contest the first sentence.
I am picking up what you are laying down, however, the post is about Thailand not Singapore, you cant compare the two, it is like trying to compare chalk and cheese to put it nicely.
Most Singaporeans are well educated, law abiding, productive and efficient people and the laws there are jealously enforced and harsh.
for example chewing gum is outlawed in Singapore, throwing rubbish on the floor is punished with a fine and the rattan.

Cleaner street food needed to draw tourists
does that include the high quality tourists, who will replace all the others by year's end, according to the gospel of TAT?
That would mean to start printing asap Michelin Street Food Guides and Reviews with a star system...I can just see the couple in their evening finery sitting down on the plastic chair ordering som tam a la mode, while simultaneously getting belched at by a huge, black diesel cloud from the orange bus. This just won't do, the TAT won't stand for it!
som tam a la mode....Classic

dumbing tv, oh and don't forget the bells and whistles for effect.

TAT plans 'Thainess Year'
One time when on a river taxi on the Chao praya, the Thai man on the dock was blowing his whistle and waving his hands about, with no logic or reason to what he was doing.
I assume that he was to make sure the boat was not over loaded then blow his whistle to let the pilot know it was safe to go, this wasn’t happening and there was a lot of confusion between him the pilot
A family of five, mother, father and three kids walked up to the boat, the mother escorted the kids on the boat to make sure they got on safely she was still on the pier when the Thai whistle man, blew his whistle in her ear and pulled her back from the boat.
The boat took off and the lady said “stop the boat my children are on there”, whistle man blew the whistle as hard as he could at her and pushed her to the floor, she landed on her ass, the husband who was about 5 foot 5” and weighed no more than 60kgs ran up to his wife to help her up, when four Thai men pounced on him a started to give him a beating, the wife got up and started screaming “ help police help”
One of the Thai men gave her a Muay Thai kick to the leg and she was down again.
Westerners on the boat started shouting stop the boat stop the boat, the Thais acted if nothing was wrong and ignored the situation, by this time the kids were screaming for their mother and father who they saw getting beaten up.
A group of us took the kids to the police booth at the next ferry stop and gave a statement about what happened.
The police response to this was “Oh yes!, very bad parents, they shouldn’t leave the children alone on the boat and make trouble for other people like that!.
And for me whenever I hear or read the term “Thainess” I always think about that event.

These are the values and morals taught. Is this what Thainess is? Life is worth less than getting to sing a song first.

"TAT will promote new gimmicks"
Instead of thinking up new "gimmicks" which is a nice way of saying - scam, sham, con, cheat, rip off, which is nothing more than glorifying the dodgy jet ski operators, taxi mafia, seedy sex and drug tourism, the list goes on in dodgy seedy places like e.g. Pattaya, Samui, Patong, Patpong etc...
Why can't they focus on genuine tourism like advertising their beaches, national parks, museums, history etc... with out the need for the gimmicks of dodgy and seedy hangers on looking to rip you off.
Just my opinion

Coles and Woolworths have already started to ban the importing of food products from CP and other Thai food exports due to the issue of slave and child labour in Thailand, the rest of the world should follow suit.

Call for special lab to be built for viruses 'with no cure'
Am I missing something here?
If they can't be cured why would you build a lab for them? So some Thai <deleted> releases them on the public for a 20k bribe????
"Such a lab was necessary for Thailand and Asean countries in case of an outbreak and urgent need of microbiological culture and test confirmation, he said."
Did you not even read the article??
At present they already get supplies from Australia for FREE - CSL Labs - and the USA CDC. So there is absolutely NO NEED for any such lab here. The more we contain these potential threats the better. Pandoras box is opening.....
Exactly.....!

Necessary?? For what?? "Oh yes, you have ebola, but its not official until the Thais confirm it"
A lab is where you keep strains of it for testing and research, and I cant remember ever reading about any famous Thais from that field .
A lab is not where you quarantine infected people.
They cant even keep military weapons safely locked up, how the hell can these peanuts keep a lab full of deadly viruses under lock and key.
lets hope they never get any nuclear weapons.
The story is nothing but hot air.

how many suspects from bombing the South have been arrested by the police during the democratic government?
Now all that has to happen is that they are found hanging from bed sheets in their cells and when their mates come to collect the bodies, lock them up under suspicion of....... and repeat the process.

Kim K thought about adopting Thai orphan, she literally says on TV Tease: 'I would totally adopt her'
I thought about getting a hair cut today that wasn't reported in the local paper

DUBAI: -- A UAE national is still wanted in Thailand on suspicion of animal smuggling.
"He was one of six people booked on a first-class flight from the Thai capital to Dubai. Among their baggage authorities found two suitcases containing drugged rare animals( Also known as the Shinawatras) and four baby leopards, a sun bear, a monkey, a gibbon and a blow up sex toy.
"The arrested Emirati, then aged 36, was released on bail and his passport was returned. He failed to report to the police officer in charge, and left Bangkok on a flight to the UAE." allegedly on a rare flying pig.
"The case was transferred to Thailand’s nature crimes police and a warrant was issued for his arrest. The case attracted considerable public attention in Thailand." for about one hundredth of a second.
"Maj Gen Kiattipong Khawsamang of the Thai police said the case and the arrest warrant remained active, and the man would be detained if he tried to enter Thailand again." In the same way he was allowed to leave via flying pig.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abu Dhabi said it was aware of the case but had no further comment." But went on to sing the final score of the HMS pinafore to the sound of a standing ovation.

That was a donation from the victim, to make sure the cops turned a blind eye to what was really going on in that apartment
