  3. There's a ship for them in Chanthaburi I suspect the lcoals would willingly donate; about 15 years ago HTMS Phosamton was towed from its mooring on the Chao Praya to Samet Ngam about 3km up the Chanthaburi river, plan was for restoration and for it to be used as a memorial for education purposes. Repairs, sandblasting and painting began but was abandoned due to, apparently, change of government and lack of funds. Now 10+ years later it's well settled into the riverbed, water flows through rusted holes in the hull, too late to tow it offshore as an artificial reef, an eyesore that will last the nest generation or two. History - the vessel was originally HMS Minstrel a WWII Algerine-class minesweeper in the British navy, sold to Thailand in 1947.
  4. And in Queenstown NZ Warning of Mpox outbreak for Winter Pride attendees September 07, 2024 Anyone who attended Winter Pride is being warned to watch out for symptoms of Mpox because suspected cases of the virus attended the events. The Winter Pride event took place in Queenstown in the last week of August. The Burnett Foundation (formerly NZ Aids Foundation and Ending HIV) said it was asking people to help contain the outbreak. Chief executive Joe Rich said anyone that was at Winter Pride with fever-like symptoms, lesions or spots in the genital area should refrain from sexual contact and get into a sexual health clinic to get tested. "In New Zealand, gay, bisexual men and other men who have sex with men (MSM) are at the greatest risk. That's where we've seen previous outbreaks spreading and the ones that are circulating in Australia are the same."

  22. I had an approx 15 minutes conversation with an expat in January and was concerned I might have a bad year as my 2023 total was five, all either at the beach or shops. But here we are in August and my tally remains at one. I don't need to go out of my way to avoid them, it's rare to meet one in Chanthaburi other than a walking-past nod of acknowledgement.

  24. We don't own one, but company my wife works for bought one in December 2022 and liked it so much they bought another one in June 2023 - more practical and far cheaper than the previous two Isuzu d-Max for their usage. Civil Engineering company the cars are used for engineers checking in on jobs from Chanthaburi to Rayong and south to Trat around 200km a day, 6-7 days per week, plus her round-town use when available. Staff cars - used and abused like many company vehicles but they haven't self-destructed just yet. Can't comment on the km per charge as they're left on charge each night.
