  1. We were planning on going away right around the time of my WP renewal. Also Im awaiting for my replacement passport from the British consulate. I therefore wanted to know if its an issue to submit all documents a week or 2 after the expiry date of my current WP? Or should I just submit all docs to them before I go away using the old passport. Maybe they will not know or care if I later have a new replacement passport with a new PP number thanks
  2. if you are still financially helping her then do you really think she is going to grass you up at immigration? Is this thread for real?
  3. Just call Bumriungrad tomorrow morning and ask to be put through to the dental desk. Simple.
  4. My ext of stay based on marriage is due next month. I popped into the local immigration office here in Southern Thailand. They gave me a list of documents One of them says item 4: Memorandum of statement for clarity of wife. Number 5 says Certificate of marriage. What is item 4? Number 9. Is saying in the case of working must show WP and tax evidence. I think this is an annoying requirement that is out of scope for the immigration dept. The labor office approve the WP based on giving private tax information to them. Why does immigration need to see my wifes tax returns. Actually I think they will not even know that I have a WP. Should I just leave it out and see what happens? I suspect Thailand is too unsophisticated to have databases/ servers connected between Immigration and labor office. Surely theres no link? Overall, I suppose this is not going to take very long to photocopy all this but its basically tedious that we have to go through this every year. cheers
  5. We drove past a for sale sign and had a look at the 10 rai for an incredibly cheap price 1.4 million baht. They said it was a P.B.T.5 title and having looked it up: Por. Bor. Tor. 5 (P.B.T. 5), is an evidence showing that the occupier of a plot of land has been issued a tax number and has paid tax for using the benefit of the land. This confers no right at all but was formerly used to establish that the holder was occupying a plot of land and could apply for a Sor Kor 1. _______________ So does it mean that the holder of that title hasn't applied for Sor Kor 1. Or maybe she has and knows its impossible and thus trying to sell. Currently its just farming land and no electric/ water. But a neighbour has solar and tank water. It has stunning views. For the price Im tempted to buy it in the wifes name and put a cheap cabin or whatever on there. Go there once a week to get away from family life. Thoughts?
  6. actually its KTC that issues the credit cards for ktb. They require minimum 2 years work permit. Or put a deposit guarantee and the 2 year rule doesnt apply. You could consider citibank but they need you to show greater than 1 million savings for 6 months.
  7. Im not addicted to alcohol at all. Just bc I went out and had some fun for 3 nights doesnt mean Im addicted. I will have no problem not having any more alcohol at all. I do not have an addictive personality now.
  8. Wow. That is really low. I'm sure you have already been told this by your dr but doing any strenuous hard core exercise for you could be fatal. Do you mind if I ask what meds you are on?
  9. I just looked at AF on google and it seems quite similar to my issues actually. Quoting from Sheryls link: '' Drinking a large quantity of alcohol in a short period can also have toxic effects on your heart muscle. This can cause a disruption in your heart rhythm called “fibrillation.” This is when the chambers of your heart try to beat so quickly that they only twitch or quiver. When chambers of your heart do this, they don’t pump effectively. This happens in one of two ways: Atrial fibrillation. The upper chambers of your heart are the left atrium and right atrium (the plural term is “atria”). When they fibrillate, not all the blood inside them gets pumped to the next chamber of your heart. When blood pools in those chambers, a clot can form. If that clot leaves your heart and travels to your brain, it can get stuck there and cause a stroke.'' I had a 3 night in row drinking and wonder if what is described above happened to me at 2am in the morning. It scared the <deleted> out of me being woken up to this. No more alcohol for me that is for sure!!!! Im interested to take the medication for a while and see if things improve including my cognitive problems that have been in slow decline for at least 5 yrs.
  10. You're correct. Dr said I might have to take it forever. I was shocked by this actually. He said keep an eye on the BP. If my Systolic is ever less than 100 skip the dose of the pill (at that time) but always take it twice a day if its greater than 100. I had no idea in my 20's, 30's and some of the 40s that I was damaging my heart so much. I remember in my late 30's playing an intense game of netball. I suddenly felt on the verge of having a major heart problem. Never felt so bad. I speculate now that this heart issue has been manifesting itself for a long time... Also he said that bc my heart function is so low that I should not do any hard core exercise eg. run for 5km, fast cycling, sports etc- because I could have sudden heart failure and die. Anyways, its good to have found an excellent/ skilled dr and be given a chance to turn this around.
  11. I was diagnosed 2 years ago with dilated Cardiomyopathy by a fine cardiologist in the city where I live. I was frequently waking up in the night and had fast palpitations. He gave me a beta blocker back then and told me to quit alcohol etc. I forgot to take it at the following subsequent times that it happened. Fast forward to this week. I had a 3 day pass away from the family and hit the grog a bit for 3 nights in a row. At 2am I suddenly woke up very worried. Pounding fast irregular palpitations. I sat up in the bed and went to the toilet. After a while everything was normal. I was very afraid at the time something bad was going to happen. I woke up and went to the heart dept of a hospital. An echo showed I had 45% heart function. As soon as he started the echo he said he noticed I had abnormal palpitations. I told him 2 to 3 yrs ago I had the CTA exam on the heart and normal results- no blockages etc. So he said I had heart muscle disease and essentially the goal is to get the heart function back up to normal levels 60% and find out what type of Arrhythmia problem I actually have. He put me on 25mg of Entresto which he says he hopes will raise my heart function. He says I might have to take them for a long time. I had alcohol issues in my 30s and 40's living the fast life in banking and it seems to have caught up with me. Also have family history of heart disease. If any other members have this same issue could you please comment on this? I know that its alcohol that triggers my issues as its happend severatl times in the past. It sucks if I cant drink again... I was later interested to read some of the typical symptoms which I relate to. In particular sleep being affected due to waking up cheers
  12. I came here 6 months ago and it was a real ghost town. Everything closed, dark streets, no one driving down beach road- it was so weird to see Pats like this. I remember seeing some guys fishing off the main beach opposite the hilton. I just visited Pats now and see many westerners drinking beers in the bars on beach road. Food available vinyl signs out the front. Bands playing at 2 venues (lisa on the beach). Busy in that bar- full of punters. Tree town area near Soi LK metro area has many bars full of old guys drinking tonight. Feels like things have got back to normal. Tree town restaurant area full of customers. If you think Pattaya is not going to return to its normal self soon you are misguided. If the govt allows P4P (pay for play) venues/ gogo bars on walking street and soi 6 to open mid Jan I think its going to be really busy and back to normal then. Come and enjoy pattaya now before plane loads of chinese/ russian/ indian tourists start to arrive...
  13. Ive read on this forum many times about people asking the village head to help resolve problems eg noisy issues near ones house etc. What else do they do? Do they have much authority or power? We are considering to buy land that has a small dirt road (public road) to access the land. The village head told us that we can only raise the soil on our land by 0.5m not 1m. If we ignore him can I safely assume he could cause us issues and grass us up to the local govt? What is their role exactly? thanks Jack
  14. I want to jump on the big bus from Pattaya bus station to Ekammai around midday. Does it depart every hour? Or is it reduced schedule now? If you know the departure times around midday / afternoon please list it for me. cheers Jack
  15. thanks for the info. I have heart issues and think that I cannot have an Mrna jab. I hope this doesnt ultimately doesnt mean I succumb to the dreaded chinese virus.
  16. we were quoted 1 million to raise 1m. Double that for 2m Im surprised to see the 1.2mill price for retainer walls. How high were they. do you have time to put a photo?
  17. Ive had 2 AZ and will get a booster AZ. Why risk anything. AZ has worked for me so far. I will NOT be mixing and matching
  18. Im looking to buy land. Next door a guy runs cows at his shed and theres rice padi fields also at the back and side. In the photos you will see neighbours land is green and the land I want to buy is brown. Actually the level of the land I want to buy is currently only just higher than the farmers land. And through the 4 rai that Im interested in, there are 2 long ditches from one side to the other. Its full of shrubs and tree waste as they sent the bulldosers in to clean up the land. I know that I would have to raise the land by 1 to 2m and put retainer walls around the edge. Would you agree without doing this its a huge risk as I think the land would be full of water for sure? Do you think the 2 existing ditches mean that there is evidence that the land is flood prone? I think at current land levels it all under water in heavy rain flooding weather events. thanks
  19. Are you saying that you just use the underground water and filter it? Pump it to the tanks and the house. You dont even need to hook up the govt water?
  20. no way would I ever do that. We rented a house for a yr in a gated village. Surrounded by middle class self entitled thais with their barking rats dogs in all directions. Nightmare. And VERY hard to sell a house in a gated village. Bad investment.
  21. so true. Or the advice computer store that plays loud music outside their shop with big speakers. Drive me nuts
  22. THanks for your comment but Im still a bit confused The land we are looking at is in a village / rural area. But the big metal pipe thing sticking out of the ground does have a PWA lable on it. Does this mean its a city line.? What ever it is I think I need to ascertain if we can connect to it with a meter and then run PVC or ask them to do the black rubber option. Am I correct about this. Then run it to the tank underground and pump it to the house? Is this all sounding correct?
  23. We are looking at land in a rural area. It has the PEA electric poles running down the road outside the land so no issue there. But I wanted to ask about water. Theres a PWA pipe sticking out of the land across the road. I forgot to take a photo. But its not hooked up to anything. Actually across the road they are developing land for what looks like a new gated village. I asked the seller about all this. He visited the PWA. He said they told him that we can apply for temporary water supply 8000 to 9000 baht. When we have a house then one can upgrade to permanent. He said they would come to assess the water pressure to see if its enough or not. If the water pressure is enough then we dont have to spend much money. But if the pressure is no good then they need to advise how much it will cost extra... If you have recently been in this situation I would like to hear your suggestions. It might be 100m from the road to the proposed house site actually. thanks
