  1. I used to advertise with Chiang Mai Mail - Chiang Mai's only English language newspaper - until they went out of business.

They called recently to let us know that they will be starting up again soon but have raised prices for advertising. I pointed out that they never finished our previous contract and they gave us the same price as before.

and i'm sure they appreciate the free advertising. :o

  2. i went and saw dr. sudhee this afternoon, and was impressed by both his knowledge and professionalism.

he's no longer open M-F, so call ahead to confirm his schedule.

btw, i didn't have a referral, and wasn't asked for one.

thanks again to all of you who recommended him!

  3. it appears as if dr. sudhee sudasna is the man to see. thanks everyone.

i don't know if cmsally's friend is right, but there's no answer at the number provided above.....although it's still early.

  4. for some reason i've been spending a lot of time in restaurants recently...

my recent trip to miguel's mexican was a disappointment. maybe the cook was having a night off, but in the 20 odd times i've eaten there, it was the worst. what was even more troubling was the cheese used in the quesadilla....it seemed to be mozzarella. i'll certainly give it another try--everyone deserves a second chance.

i also finally made it to bonnissimo. we thought it was too late (9:15) for pasta, so we ordered a tomato and mozzarella salad and the pesto pizza. the salad left a lot to be desired, but i'd strongly recommend the pesto pizza.

i was also in tuskers.....i ordered hummus and pita bread with a side of fries. everything was good (particularly the fries) but the amount of hummus was laughably small. it's a great looking place.

khun churn never seems to disappoint. the gai tort grateeum (fakefried chicken with garlic) was fantastic. the worst thing about khun churn is the inattentiveness of the staff. they're all friendly kids, but they don't seem to have their minds on their jobs.

  5. List of Documents for Non-Immigration Visa type O

    at the EMBASSY / CONSULATE

    1. Copy of Household Registration of Thai Wife.

    2. Copy of Identification Card of Thai Wife.

    3. Copy of Marriage Certificate

Remark : Please Bring all Originals and copies

thanks for posting this info, but i have one thing i'd like to clarify...

you mention that i should bring originals and copies--should i bring my wife's ID card with me to america?

    thanks again

  6. I'm planning to get married and applying for a Non-O within the next six months or so, and was wondering if anyone had suggestions as to when would be the best time--considering my travel plans....

I'm going back to the states in about 6 weeks and could get married before I go, and then apply at a consulate in the US before i return to thailand.

However, soon after I come back to Thailand, I need to go to Cambodia for a few days. Will this affect my application in anyway?

Would it just make more sense to wait until I'm back from Cambodia and start from scratch by applying for a visa from Singapore or KL?

Also, is there a waiting period after the marriage date before someone can apply for a Non-O?

    Thanks.

  7. georgebkk and chiang mai

i drove around krabi for 3 days last week, and unfortunately didn't find what i was looking for. however, i'm going back later this month to try again.

there are multiple house for rent in several of the moo bahns surrounding krabi town. and there are also a lot of shop houses available....these wouldn't work for me becaue i've got two dogs and need some land.

    good luck

  8. Thanks for your reply PIA.

But i'd still like to know how you feel about a potential applicant that has expressed this point of view regarding graduate study.....

I could care less about the quality of the program. The easier the better. I just want to burn up those VA bennies. I do wish Payap had an international doctorate program though.
  9. Probably happily, as I believe people like that are the very people they target.

i don't have any first hand experience with payap, but i can't imagine that to be true.

in his post payapintladmissions stated his case well...but went a bit far when he claimed their degree is as 'good as any other bachelors degree'. i understand his point about govt. jobs and lesser known american universities but he admitted as much himself when he said that CMU was 'more reputable'.

  10. soon i'll be driving in the other direction (chiang mai to the south) with two dogs...has anyone done this before? any recommendations on where to stop? i'd like to drive past bkk on the first day.

my main concern is where to spend the night. right now, i'm leaning towards camping and putting them on a leash for the night.

  11. far too many agressive young tourists not really knowing what it's all about at all.

true, but young thais are also increasingly agressive.

i'm definitely leaving chiang mai for songkran.
