  1. if you've got a honda with a dealer installed alarm ....

is there some way to stop the blue light from blinking? i assume the idea is that it will ward off potential thieves, but IMO all it does is attract attention at night.

this is assuming that different dealers don't use different alarms...if that's not the case, i bought mine in chiang mai.

    thanks.

  2. i went into miguels today for a soft taco and quesadilla....whatever the problems may have been with the tortillas, they seem to have been solved.

no evidence of a 'floor show' with mike.

the staff, while disinterested, was courteous.

a bit over priced, but not absurdly.

the 'lowlight' of the meal was when some guy came in with a parrot and sat down next to me at the counter----fyi....just because you like to eat with your parrot, doesn't mean other people want to

  3. I would be happy to have a vegetarian option on the menu - vegetarians know what they like so fire away with some good recipes - but please definitely not the nut cutlet type.

i'm a veg and have never been to mikes burgers. if you had a veggie burger, i'd probably stop in for a meal once or twice a month....i miss onion rings, and milkshakes, etc...

i'd recommend not cooking your veg burgers on the grill, as this will put off more than a few vegetarians..... there was a restaurant i went to in the states that would put a skillet on the grill which was only for cooking veg products. failing that, heat them up in the microwave.

IMO most western vegetarians still enjoy eating traditional western meals (comfort food), just without the meat.

  4. Not according to my excellent field guide book, A photographic Guide to Snakes and Other Reptiles of Peninsula Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.

is that available here in chiang mai?

  5. i went to TAJ last night for dinner, but i'm not in a hurry to return as the food was just OK.

i also found it to be a bit pricey....

    2 mango lassis

    parkora appetizer

    two vegetarian main dishes

    2 plates of rice

    1 nan

    just under 600 baht.

chiang mai is a long way from penang in more ways than one.

  6. i don't teach children and can only speculate.....but i don't think i'd use thai in the classroom. as stated by tdsk it could result in a perceived loss of control, and may end up causing more trouble than it's worth.

i'd also like to think that a stern look and effectively meted out punishments for troublemakers would solve most discipline problems.....but as i said, i don't teach kids. am i living in a fantasy world?

  7. i don't know if this is the place cmfoxy is talking about, but on page 41 of this month's cm citylife there is an ad for 'TAJ Indian Curry House', and locates itself above mcdonalds.

from the photo in the ad, the place looks nice enough...has anyone tried it?

  8. have you ever taught hotel staff here in LOS? if so...

where? what city? what type of hotel?

for how long? if you're no longer working for the hotel, why did you leave?

in your opinion, what are the positive/negative aspects of teaching hotel staff?

how is the pay? contact hours? materials? dealing with management?

for international chains, is it better to contact corporate offices, or on site?

    thanks in advance.

    :o

  9. I'm contractually obligated to a university up north until September, but I'm seriously considering making a move to the south.

As far as I know, there aren't any universities in Krabi....is this correct?

Are there many hotels that take on farangs as full time staff? If a teacher didn't want to live at the hotel, what would the wage be for a teacher with above average qualifications?

    Thanks.
